10 min queue is a problem

First of all this is my opinion. Not everyone will agree and that’s ok. Hopefully some good can come from this post. It’s hopefully not just a rant.

10 min queue for DPS. This is a pretty big problem. Now before you immediately jump on the defensive and type “don’t one trick DPS” or “play a healer then” you are going to miss the whole point of what I am Trying to say.

I think 10 minutes to play the game I enjoy isn’t much, but 8-10 min PER match is excessive. This is a sign of a few major problems. For me personally, some days I just want to DPS for a change. I queue healers about 60% of the time. 10-20 tank. And 20-30 DPS.

There are days where healing just gets old. Today is one of those days.

Oh jumped into a map 20 sec from completion. 10 more minutes. /sigh

This more than an annoyance. It’s a problem.

Make more interesting tanks. Even if it shakes up the meta. Be bold once again instead of walking on egg shells and worrying too much about how people will take it. Let’s face it the most interesting tank rn is wrecking ball. And he is more of an annoyance than a tank. That should say a lot about the state of tanks. They are so boring. What makes them boring is they all feel the same. Same stuff different wrapper so to speak. You have one turret (ish) tank. And one off tank like an anti flanker, Flanker, or a self healing meat shield. Or god forbid a double shield.

We’ve played 3 years of shields, we need more substance. We need more. Period.

Secondly, ( most importantly, since what can realllly be done about tanks?) please stop giving slaps on the wrist for leaving matches. Give them a 15 min debuff before they can queue again. PLEASE!!

First team fight we win, half their team leaves. Such an abysmal shell of what this community used to be. This happens literally every match. Every match.

Third. If I queue as all 3 roles, please once in a while throw me a bone and let me DPS.

Try it. 60% of the time you will get tank, 39% healer, 1% DPS.

Layer the queues so it should be a 33% per role.

Or if you queue as tank you get 2 min off your DPS queue next map.

Queue all 3 you might as well not even check DPS at all. Such a flawed queue system in that reguard. Instead of being rewarded for being versatile you are funneled into roles less people wanna play. This feels horrible.

Lastly, make the meta interesting again plz. Shake it up. Do new things. There is a lot of time between overwatch 2 and now. Let’s not make it bland. Throw us a curveball or two. We beg you.

Until they fix the tanks so that it’s fair and not throwing to pick something without a barrier, this is only going to get worse. A lot of tank players are tired. I’ve dropped to like one game a week, it’s all I can stand. I get to play a little Sigma and a little Zarya and then I stop. Then I remember why I’m not playing much, have a fond flashback to that dead hero D.Va I once got to play every day, and exit the game.

It’s sad. But this is where we’re at.

It’s really bad. Was trying to play with my Dps duo last night and got multiple 20 minute ques :woman_shrugging:
They have to fix Tank or this game will die.

I’ve noticed the queues rising to like 15 minutes recently. It has been insane.

They need to stop with these horrible patches which make tank/support unfun.

Yeah, they just don’t seem to care about keeping and possibly bringing in new tank/supp players. This obviously affect DPS players in q time but now also support players as the second most populated role, sometimes the times are matched to DPS.

I just want D.VA not to be trash anymore. I want Zen to be playable without having to be babysat. But buff Genji, I guess.

I’ll stand corrected about 10 min actually being good. Admittedly I haven’t been playing much. The anniversary event was nice cause worst case scenario I was unlocking a few skins that slipped through my fingers even if what was mentioned above was the case.

Maybe we can rally some more support to make some moves here.

My open queue time is 3 minutes on average. For lowrank lol

Either everyone avoid me, or game is not in best condition

I queued all three yesterday and after a few hours, got a DPS match after a thirty second queue and thought I was in the twilight zone lmao.

My big issue is backfill. Don’t backfill a missing position for like 15-30 seconds (unless it’s the player that just left that requeues, toss 'em back in where they left, cause screw 'em.) That simple change will stop a lot of entering games just to see the defeat screen before you can even select a hero.

Buffing non barrier tanks and reworking barrier tanks would go a long way to improving dps queues. Or add another tank into the game that enables non barrier comps that work with ball/hog/zarya/dva.

Unpopular opinion: at literally any rank above gold, tank is the most impactful role, unless you can completely dafran hard carry on dps.

I am interested in people’s thoughts on the idea and maybe Blizzard will see it and get better ideas to fix the game.

I know it’s an old issue, but I also think the que times are in part due to hero diversity.

There’s just not as many different tank or support experiences as there are dps experiences.

We don’t have any kind of flanking support, no kind of sniper tank, no kind of free flight tank, no builders in either support or tank, no trap-setting tanks or support, few non-dps heroes who are even capable of landing clutch headshots, etc…
The dps catagory offers so many unique experiences that aren’t emulated in the other roles. Not enough niches for players to settle into.

The current concept for a support is get out of my way but still heal me gud

The current concept of a tank is W, feed enemies and your supports ult charge, w more, block shatter/bomb…die

If Blizzard wanted to make the roles feel less like jobs…or rather heroes be less like jobs then it’d be a different story. But Overwatch’s problem has to be tackled from its design

Oh no this is true, but while Tank is the most impactful role, it is somehow the most miserable to play :slight_smile:
How Blizzard pulled that one off? No idea.

I feel you, if you are under diamond feel free to play hog without hard throwing, hes pretty fun. Zarya is good at any rank. Rein is surprisingly fun if you just understand that you win some you lose some, rein is also way better with some groupies

Well tbh there are more people in DPS role so it can’t really be fixed easily plus the balancing being done around OWL is resulting in more and more nerfs for tanks and supports and more people are changing roles from tanks or supports to DPS. Until they make more heroes in each role, stop balancing around OWL, or take feedback from ladder players and not from streamers present on a private discord server, I don’t think it can be fixed easily

owl dictates what we get most of the time.
and fixing this bad dps queue time require tank and support to be really fun to play or doesnt feel being suppressed at the very least, which will never happen due to it will just has to rework almost every existing tank and support from core.

or they can just make tanks and support op. but owl players will riot.
