Because that’s factually incorrect
Because misconceptions such as that should not go unaddressed.
Enlighten me then. What do I do as a tank first, support second, player to help the DPS players get shorter queue times?
Same question I asked Socrates then. Please tell me what I can do to fix “their” issue?
How about I start with the devs, eh?
They can revert the implementation of 2-2-2, they can make enjoyable tanks, they can balance out “tank busters”, they can add more tanks, etc.
This is a problem created by Blizzard and they can fix it.
No it wouldn’t
This would directly impair me from having a round or match I enjoy.
I have agreed with this assessment since people started saying it.
As a tank, I enjoy playing against Reaper. I do not enjoy playing against Mei. Some tank busters make sense, others not so much.
This takes time, unless Blizzard decides to transfer DPS heroes to the tank roster.
You disagree with the direction Blizzard is moving, and I agree with it. Had Blizzard went in the direction of allowing the game to remain in the state where people could select heroes how ever and when ever they wanted to I would have just stopped playing the game. My opinion has been, and always will be, if Blizzard wanted to go that direction, fine by me.
They didn’t go in that direction. So why now is it somehow, based on the reading of the forums, the responsibility for tank and support players to come to the aid of damage dealer players?
Just give people who complete games on in-demand roles (ie, tank, support) priority when they queue for other roles. This will encourage people to play tank/support more, also bringing the dps queue time down until you reach an equilibrium.
Damage dealer players will tell you this is unfair. It is unfair for them to play a hero in a game that they do not want to play. Since they don’t want to play tanks and supports, they shouldn’t have to, even if it is why the queue is so over saturated.
Too bad. This should be part of playing the game.
1-2 hours queue for dps in my rank.
20-30 minutes queue for tank and support.
Everyday.
Since role queue i m a support Main lol.
PD: the solution is play using smurfs accounts.
2-2-2 directly impairs me from having a round or match I enjoy
You may enjoy it, but tanks busters are a big deterrent for potential tank players.
I’m just listing possibilities
I mean, in the scenario of queue times, it would greatly help if all the roles helped fix the problem that drives so many players away.
No one is obligated by any means, but the more the merrier.
Like I said. If supporting Blizzard change the game to make my experience worse that is a no sale.
As far as getting things back on track so everyone has better queue times then count me in. My biggest issue, right now, is that the forums is bound and determined to place the blame on each side of the coin;
DPS player: Tanks and supports forced Blizzard to make things 2/2/2
Tank/Support: You brought this upon yourself you selfish brat
Neither of these stances makes the problem go away. Honestly I want to play the game less and less with all this bickering.
Without tank busters, of some sort, tanks at the moment would be too strong. If you got rid of tank busters, you would also have to reduce tank damage to next to nothing. I am not against that, but I would assume most people are.
I can agree with them, for the most part. Another issue I see is, until Blizzard can get new heroes out, or change some of the current ones around, then queueing as tank or support in 1/4 or 1/3 of all your games will lower the queue time for all DPS players. This though, seems to be absolutely out of the question.
“Don’t give Blizzard time to iron out all the problems, FIX IT NOW!”
Allowing up to 3 from any role but no less than 1 would help fix it. Other than that the only quick fix would be to increase the spread of ranks that can play together. This would be especially helpful for higher ranks.
Long term make supports and tanks more enjoyable to play, but can it last long enough for that?
I fail to see how decreasing DPS queue times would make your experience worse.
I agree with both statements
I personally find the people who caused it to be partially everyone to an extent but I find Blizzard mostly at fault.
Agreed, I think people would be more accepting if tank busters were tuned down a bit so they can’t just feed off of tanks, especially since you can’t switch off of tank due to Role Lock.
It is possible for DPS to go to other roles, but this would ruin one of the main selling points of 2-2-2, which is that you can play the role you want.
A fix like this, thought helping queue times, will ultimately hurt Blizzard’s balance formula. If Blizzard is looking to balance the game on 2/2/2 and wants that to be the end all be all, then having a temporary 3 role establishment, which come on now that only means 3 DPS, would make all data collected null and void.
Or, increase the amount of players per rank at the higher end.
With all the arguing currently, it probably won’t last that long.
The level of abuse on the AU Overwatch servers is completely and utterly insane. I actually wonder what would happen if the devs/product managers forcibly put themselves on to the AU Comp servers - they might be in for a rude shock. This is the crap we have to put up with every single day. Compared to what I see on Twitch, the AU servers are utterly insane for this - even though the individual skill level is stupidly higher on AU at the same rank.
The GOATS changes, let me remind you I am a tank player with 1000 hours under my belt (for what its worth), have made tanking a very unprofitable role. You take vast amounts of damage, mitigated or not, from ALL sources. Not just DPS. The damage dealer buffs and tank/support nerfs to get GOATS under control placed too much strain on the solo tank or support.
Now, Blizzard could tweak the stats a bit and make the system more bearable for 3/2/1 or 4/1/1 scenario. Thing is, Blizzard won’t do that. Because I don’t believe Blizzard will do that, I cannot in good conscience, recommend Blizzard open more slots to DPS players.
As a DPS player yourself, I assume, test that option. Tell more DPS players to queue as tank and support and see what kind or response you get, even if just to see what its like.
I know the pain all too well as I am a tank main as well.
My problem with 1/2/3 or 4/1/1 is the same with one of the biggest problems with Role Q/Lock which is how flexibility is limited.
If I had my way, I would have had the devs fix tanks instead of implementing 2-2-2. The main reason I blame the devs is that they could have fixed this all if they stopped their blatant disregard to the balance of tanks and stopped concentrating so much on OW.
I am a flex player myself (tank is my favorite role which is odd considering how I feel about it). I refuse to play DPS in RQ currently since the meta is atrocious and stale.
I dare not tell people to just play different roles as I hate it when people say that.
We seem to agree on many things, and things we disagree upon are more in line with what Blizzard can, or will do.
I want everyone to have “bearable” queue times. Even saying that though, bearable to one may not be bearable to another. As a tank player right now, today, my queue times are not long. I can read all day about queue times I don’t have to deal with. Truth be told, I have queued as a damage dealer 6 times since role queue. My longest wait was 2:30. I am not disputing that there are people who have longer queue times, I have just never seen it.
The other aspect, more to talk about the different composition make up and my own anecdotal data.
Have I;
won a game as a solo tank with 5 DPS? - Yes
won a game as a solo support with 5 DPS? - Yes
won a game as the solo tank with 2 supports and 3 DPS? - Yes
won a game as the solo support with 2 tanks and 3 DPS? - Yes
won a game as the second tank with 1 support and 3 DPS? - Yes
won a game as the second support with 1 tank and 3 DPS? - Yes
won a game with a composition with fewer then 3 DPS? - Yes
All of these wins have a variable to which I cannot ignore. Purely anecdotal, I have won with these compositions because the enemy team was so much worse then my team that it didn’t matter who, or what composition we played. We would have won regardless.
Having a composition with 2/2/2 being the static formula allows for each team to have identical numbers of role, and the opportunity to queue as such is fair across the board.
Queue times will go down for damage dealers, but it is up to them to fix the problem today, and it is up to Blizzard to fix it long term. Besides Blizzard knee jerk changing the role queue, which will have problems of its own, we are forced to wait, and I guess bicker incessantly to whose fault it is, for Blizzard to come up with a solution.
I hope it comes sooner then later, because at this point I don’t want to launch Overwatch as long as everyone is at each others throats.
