1 thing Marvel Rivals did better than OW about Healers

Making Supports/Strategists that arent free kills from day 1. This way they already let the players know that healers can dish out good dmg on their own (even tho Spiderman and BP can delete you in 1 second)

The OG support cast in OW had Mercy, Lucio, Sym and Zen, they were literally all free kills without a single fighting chance, no wonder DPS players cry so much about current Supports being able to duel: they need their free kills to boost their egos, or at least the amount of effort that a Support needs to put into fighting back should be 3 times harder than their DPS ability to kill, only then its fair.

Dunno how any support was a free kill except zen at 150 hp(lol). Which lasted how long now? Right.

Oh mercy? Yea she was attached to a dps protecting her. Kinda her design.

Just a weird take. Also the amount of healing output has nothing to do with a supports lethality. Clearly what people take issue with is their ability too sustain a team in modern day OW not their lethality. Thou when they have both - like current ow - that means you can not possibly stand a chance at easily cutting that endless supply of sustain out by taking out the support → toxic design.

It was a very legitimate issue at the onset of OW. Supports are THE number one character to kill in the entire game. They have all the responsibility to try to keep up the team because its baked into their kit, its the DPS/tank job to not have to care about your own supports. Especially for someone behind you and you have no ability to assist beyond add extra damage.

Suiciding a DPS into a support is actually incredibly high value provided there is no way to reverse or potentially stop the suicide attempt such as Suzu, Rez, Pull, or Lamp. Beyond those moves its always worth while to suicide a DPS into a support since its insanely easy to kill a team with no supports.

If DPS and tanks want to have fun pressing the W key because they might feel immortal with healing, then supports kind of need some self autonomy unless all the DPS/tanks want to be playing chaperone all game. The people in DPS are not very teammate oriented for a reason. All of those people are in the support/tank category. With dead supports, those players will be pressing the S key trying to avoid dying for moving 5ft from the ranged spam in the game.

I resent that. I protect all of my subjects, even if they are not Wakandan.

I see you more as a tank player. The ThiccBuddha. The roadhog pfp. The reinhardt talk. The tank talk. You seem like a tank at heart.

Healers with high damage and speed like Mantis, I live for this…

Edit : her sleep is too easy to land and might need some tuning, imo.

if that stupid game is so great why is it already on a downfall

being the priority =/= free kills

What downfall they’re steady. Heck they’re steady on Christmas Eve. It’s a holiday so many shouldn’t be playing anyways and they still have 250,000 playing currently.

That’s my whole point. You are agreeing with my point. Since supports are the number one priority target, they need to be defensible and self reliable. Especially since any tank or dps can get double support pocket. Supports can only get 1 support pocket.

Who said it was… ?

it doesn’t even come close to reading like that

there ar epeople on here that have seen that game is already starting to see its downfall it makes me wonder if they hired some previous blizzard employees

You do understand the correlation between a supports value and their ability to sustain right?

Coz sustain exceeds the value of damage support > dps. When that equation instead reaches equilibrium you’ll have people targeting much more freely and focusing more on punishing mistakes rather than trying to take out the support as it garners the highest chance of winning.

There are certain people that want to interpret anything and everything as signs of the game going down the drain Tracer. I wouldn’t pay them much mind, it’s a hefty amount of deep deep cope.

Most of the community doesn’t have the education or experience to understand or interpret much of anything and they display this on an almost constant basis.

Supports never were free kills in Overwatch 1.

Again, Lucio was doing 80 damage per round, and 25 damage area effect damage every 4 seconds with a knockback effect. He did that 80 damage per round more often than Genji could fire off his LMB; Genji’s RMB was only slightly faster (at the time) than Lucio’s.

And Zenyatta still has higher burst headshots than Hanzo.

Symmetra, wasn’t really a Support.

Mercy’s damage from her pistol, though was hitting harder than Soldier’s shots, though she failed to keep up with his kind of burst damage or damage per second.

The problem was, the perception, Overwatch wasn’t very intuitive with its design (it still really isn’t). There were serious problems with passive Tanking coming from Reinhardt players, and Tanking in general. For a lot of players, the appearance of the Supports in Overwatch, generally meant healing your team and being focused entirely on that. When the first appearance for a lot fo players is Reinhardt, Soldier and Mercy (who basically channeled healing compared to Lucio and Zen who are more “set-and-forget”); the perception came about with that idea that Supports were free-kills or easy kills; when it wasn’t really true.

Right now, Spider-Man has a 15% buff in his damage output, which is allowing him to cap kills with two to three button presses. Black Panther is a bit more difficult and involved in his killing streaks, and you actually have to be pretty good in terms of aiming and timing with both to really nail those kills.

This is false. Lucio had a higher damage per second than Genji for comparable damage (80 to 84). Zenyatta’s RMB bursts back then totaled over 300 damage, and his damage per second was comparatively higher than many Damage-role and Tank-role heroes at the time.

Symmetra was slowing targets by up to 60% and doing at least 100+ damage per second with 6 sentries, and about 200 damage per second with a fully charged primary lock-on beam combined.

Kinda the whole point of Zenyatta’s design was being a glass-cannon Support. The smaller health pool didn’t really help him, but he still dominated.

205 healing with just one right-click and I get to hit as hard as Hela? Sure, why not!

Pretty short range, overall. Plus the illusion can be killed.

Basically, healing is too frequent and too valuable, because everything (outside of Tanks) is too easy to remove or eliminate as a threat.

And because that damage needs to be high in order to kill tanks at a decent clip, and you need to remove the sustaining element from play to remove that threat to the tank. Because Tanks are your most valuable units.

Lacking critical thinking skills isn’t really the result of a lack of education or experience; rather it is bias coloring the views in order to lead to a confirmation.

I’d argue lacking critical thinking skills is most definitely brought on by a lack of education and to a degree experience, but mostly education. Not book learning, but if you’re never raised to look beyond your point of view and ask yourself the same question from the other side of the argument, that’s a failure of education or upbringing.

Always felt that there was a difference between being educated and being smart. You can be pretty smart, but not very well educated; and the reverse is true too.

The idea is building experience and pattern of successes to help build confidence and that in turn, can improve one’s ability to think, evaluate, and encourage further education… or rather self-researching and improving oneself through education.

I gotta say, during OWC if I found myself playing support, it would invariably play Zen and even at 150 hp I was far from a free kill.

What downfall are you talking about lmao?
Consistently it’s hitting peaks of 380-370k players everyday.
