1 defeat and 7 wins = stuck silver 2

I don’t understand what is going on with competitive.

At the beggining of season 1, I was stuck Bronze 5 for a month until they fix it.
Now, it looks like my account is broken.
How, being top healer each game, I can’t rank up with only one defeat on a serie ?
I made another account and I reached Silver 3. And then Gold 4.
What is wrong with my main account ?
I know it depends about statistics, healing, damage, death etc… But if I’m okay each time ?
I play with friends and they rank up too high (platinum) and I’m still silver while playing with them…

Firstly, new accounts get bigger early SR swings. So that test doesn’t really prove much. Play a few hundred games on it and see where it is.

Secondly, if you’ve gone 7-1, that’s a baseline gain of 150sr. If you’ve not gone up then you were clearly right at the start in SR for that division, and your MMR suggests you should be lower. So when you win you are gaining much less than 25sr.

This will be because (and sorry if this is a little harsh), they are better players than you. If you want to catch up with them, id suggest getting an independent player to vod review and maybe play alot of death match if you’re a DPS player.

Maybe you heal too much ?
Maybe you die too much ?

My experience of supports gets me the feel that its useless to focus on healing. If your team lifebars are full, you should go for aggressive stance.

Being “okay” ain’t enough. It seems the game will put you in higher ranks only if you dominate.

Since overbuff is working again, you could check there the average numbers for your heroes and compare it to your own stats. If your stats are close the average, then you won’t rank up.

As the blog about competitive OW2 system, it seems your MMR and SR are separated values and back in OW1, they were trying to compare each players stats to the average for ranking placements. If it’s still on in OW2 (and it seems it is), I think its the best way to know if the game misplaces you.

7-1 should be a rank up every time. No matter what stats the hardstuck gold devs think are good that you are not putting up. The bottom line is you are winning games and I’d rather have you as a teammate than someone who went 1-7 with amazing unknown arbitrary potg stats that the devs love circle jerking to.

I saw a Lucio get potg by punching another Lucio on youtube. This is what the game algorithm determined was the turning point that won the game. And the same algorithm being used to determine if you deserve to rank up or not.

I believe that when is the case like this the rank should go up by one, even if it would go down with the next rank reveal because it confuses people

The confusion arrives when you don’t understand how you’re “allowed” to rank up. Wins are required to actually rank up. But, the actual way to rank up is based entirely upon how you fair vs every other player in the world. They base your performance vs other players. It’s not fair but it’s how it works. Focus more on stats, not winning, sadly.

This is how I understand it to work.

Also, OP. Are you new to OW? People have been the same rank for 6+ years. I would not stress about staying the same rank for a season. Seriously.

0 defeat and 7 wins = stuck on silver 2 for ever.
I play this lvl over 6 times and I still on silver 2.
Why…

What rank were you in OW1?

This is extremely true. Unless you’re going for being part of the OWL or some kind of streamer/influencer, rank is pretty irrelevant. It’s entire purpose is to setup matches that have a 50% chance of winning for both sides. But, people’s ego takes over, and it’s a badge of imaginary honor.

Look at your avg / 10 min numbers.

Make sure you’re at or below your deaths / 10
Make sure you’re at or above the rest.

Just because you won, doesn’t mean you didn’t play like crap. (compared to your own avgs)

Winning record + below average stats = same rank
Losing record + at or above average stats = same rank

Or at least small enough changes that it will take several times for it to change.

I have a winning percent well below 50%, but i hit my numbers most matches, i’ve stayed the same rank 5 times now.
Combine hitting your numbers with a winning % and you should eventually climb.

Play of the game was determined by who got the most on fire points in a short period, not necessarily the play that won the game

Its odd that someone got it like that but it could have been from heals/assists or shields too
