0 mention of matchmaking in patch notes

Upon review of the patch notes, anyone else notice absolutely 0 mentioning of addressing matchmaking issues…

There is a possibility it was just left off, though i have my doubts

They can’t “fix” the matchmaker without significantly increasing queue times. They will prioritize bad games as long as you get in them faster.

about a month and a half ago they acknowledged there was a problem and said they were going to fix it. So that must have been a lie then

Ngl it might be about time for a community boycott… see how there queue times look when people refuse to play enmasse

Matchmaking feels like it’s the worst it’s ever been.

My silver 4 DPS friend got placed in a Diamond lobby. How?

Your silver 4 friend is probably lying or the diamond is diamond in another role and probably silver in the role he’s playing your friend.

I’ve seen this happen on a few occasions but it wouldn’t be that far apart. There is an inherent issue with matchmaking because Blizzard does want to cut queue time, which I appreciate. But, I’d rather just them give me a 15 minute queue than bad matchmaking. Skirmish in between matches is quite fun. I get to play Ball, Lucio, Sombra and run around trolling everyone for a bit.

Matchmaking always felt fine to me, and usually everyone is in the same rank unless it’s a stack, then the rankings are usually 2 tiers at the very most off from each other. Besides it even says that since day 1 in the rank menu that it’s 2 tiers apart from each other.

So your Silver 4 friend can only play against at the very highest, a Plat 4. Just because they have the title doesn’t mean they’re diamond in every rank. I seen GM supports with Gold damage.

You forget that all you need to do now to derank on an offrolle is to just not play it or simply just not climb. Then consider alt accounts.
2 seasons unplayed on 1 role means you fall 4 entire ranks. That’s absolute insanity.
And if you play that offrole on an alt? Or even just stay brushed up in QP?

Well they can, all they need is a lot more Support players.

It’s almost like these issues are complicated, and not easily resolved.

Like not only would they have to plan out a new model for player distribution. But also do the coding work and put it through it’s passes to test it out over large data pools that can take a while to process.

And if it doesn’t give them the result their looking for, then from their either patch out any issues it might have. And take the time to have the patch processed and approved for each console, which is a week in it’s self.

And thats with one model, their most likely testing several.

You guys didn’t read the blog very closely.

Players are now matched directly against their enemy counterparts per role in MMR.

Que times are not an issue at the moment, at least on the east coast of the US.

So this is more so an isolated issue for your region.

It’s about addressing the bottleneck it’s currently support, yet the patch is nerfing the most popular support.

Queue Times and Matchmaker Quality are direct tradeoffs of each other, with the same root cause.

And we absolutely have Matchmaker Quality issues.

No they are preventing q time issue by loose matchmaking.

It won’t change much of anything lmao. Idk why people think it will when they can’t calibrate off role players sr. I’ve gotten way too many masters off role players in my gold games who simply dominate in the past week alone.

Off role means nothing, they got their MMRs in each role the same way everybody else did.

Don’t make me laugh man. You’re absolutely trolling if you don’t see anything wrong. I can get bronze lobbies on DPS by simply queing with someone in bronze on my offrole and pub stomp. Idk why you’re shilling so hard for this matchmaker.
I don’t even want to climb DPS anymore because climbing sucks so much. Even if I KNOW I’ll win for queing the role.
The only people getting decent mm are those no lifing the game, not off roling, and out of metal ranks. even then it’s wildly inconsistent.
Maybe check some profiles once in awhile after you get steamrolled. Unless you barely play, I guess you wouldn’t notice.

Don’t know where this bottle neck is, as at the moment I have no issues getting a game in any role or gamemode within a minute or two of play.

Were as before hand in OW1, in gold/plat I was waiting ten minutes plus for any role that wasn’t support.

I am well adverse in these systems, I was studying and talking about on forums two to three years ago when OW1 ques started having issues.

meh this is more so do to lack of information, and that the system is made for players to climb now instead of plopping them in their actual rank were most players are static. (Keep in mind there was a soft mmr reset)

I went from bronze to gold again this season on open que and support and silver in the other two roles. An improvement over season 1 were I got mad that I ranked into bronze.

But I’m getting closer to plat were I used to be.

doesn’t help people are adjusting to the new play space. So many players just curled up next to the tank like they did in 5v5 and are getting spammed left and for standing out in the open for no real advantage.

Now it’s more about the corner game and the splitting agro into smaller 1~3v1~23 engagements.

Match making is all over the place partial do to us being also being all over the place. As the skillsets of old are the not the same as today.

That’s cause people of varying skills are. Matched , game quality vs q times.

Which is why we are getting lopsided matches.
