Damage per shotgun pellet reduced to 5, down from 6.
Number of shotgun pellets increased to 35, up from 25.
Rate of fire reduced from Recovery increased to 1.00 seconds, from 0.85 seconds.
So if the devs wanted to make it so that Roadhog was less effective at destroying Tanks, they could keep the overall damage. But then lower the effective damage against Armored Tanks.
Alliance already broke out the math on this.
Then all they gotta do is lower his shotgun rate of fire, to a level that isn’t punching holes through barriers as much. Somewhere between -15% and -20%.
This would feel horrible… I appreciate the effort, but tbh hog as a hero who literally is just straight garbage unless he has hook off cooldown just does not feel good. That’s how he is now, and this would push him even more in that direction.
One must also consider though the impact more pellets have on non-hook shots, his gun could feel very wattered down and “unprecise” because pellets keep missing regardless of aim/distance, but it’s something to test I reckon.
It would lower his effective range a bit. Because there’s falloff.
That said 5*35 = 175, which would be more than 150, so it probably is either better or no worse.
Also the additional pellets would be packed into the center ring, which would be better for accuracy.
With the damage in the center ring going up from 96 to 130
And the damage on the outer ring going down from 54 to 45.
