“Kill yourself in real life.” Is UNACCEPTABLE, INTOLERABLE

I don’t care if you need to let out your frustration, anxiety and/or stress, but to say something like “kill your self in real life” and then spelling it out and saying you’re for real in voice chat (and text chat) is UNACCEPTABLE AND INTOLERABLE BEHAVIOR for ANY FR IK IN REASON.

I DONT GIVE TWO S HTt S ABOUT YOUR PROBLEMS IN REAL LIFE. I HAVE ZERO TOLERANCE FOR THAT.

That level of behavior and attitude is truly egregious and should not be tolerated.

I was absolutely disturbed at the fact some Player would even say something like that just because a Player wouldn’t swap off a hero.

I imagined my niece that’s 8 years old playing this game who only plays Mercy, because she loves her, hearing that sort of stupid and intolerable rhetoric in voice chat or reading something that stupid in text chat.

The Overwatch Community is better than that and should be better than that.

Overwatch needs to be a respectable game and eSports with true sportsmanship.

The only way to uphold a high standard of that level is to make the consequences severe enough to mean business, to mean YOU’RE for real Blizzard.

I get it. Trash talk is a part of competition. That’s fine, but there are lines drawn in the sand and if you cross them, you deserve to lose the privilege of engaging in such a wonderful game.

We, as the Overwatch Community, need to stand up for a higher standard of attitude, behavior and sportsmanship.

Sure, we all come from different backgrounds, ethnicity, philosophy, beliefs, politics, values, etc., but what makes this game absolutely wonderful is the simple fact that we can still compete with one another and engage in this wonderful game. We can still say GG or GLHF with every match.

The Player that said that in voice chat (and any of you saying this stupid rhetoric) needs to be taught a lesson.

You’re lucky I’m not your father because somebody getting a hurting real bad.

Spread the word.

M.O.G.A.

Make Overwatch Great Again.

I do think a crackdown on both text and VC is long overdue. This AI they falsely promised really hasn’t amounted to anything, which is a shame as it would have been an automated system that could have regulated the comms.

Overwatch 2 is rated PEGI 12. So I hope your niece is not playing Overwatch at the age of 8!

This is false. It is working, it just doesn’t act harshly enough on such things. But it’s learning.

What sort of parent allow an 8 year old to play OW or any fps game???

Toxicity is wrong I agree but parenting too.

Stop talking Roku, we don’t need another unproductive confrontational spammer on these forums.

Don’t lie about what they systems are or are not doing then. Simple.

You were spot on a crackdown is needed. But saying the system is doing nothing is false, if anything it’s a little over protective in some cases, and not fast enough to deal with thinks like Bro has experienced.

And having played with Bro, I know he’s one of the nicest guys out there. If he’s this annoyed, there’s a problem.

This is a problem with the younger generations. I’ve got a 13-year-old son who I’ve heard say this to someone while playing Fortnite and immediately laid into him about this. We were told that this is something that the younger generations are just saying. It’s their way of telling someone to go F’ themselves.

Parents need to step in and be more mindful on how their children are interreacting on these types of games. Take action!!! These words are never acceptable to be said to anyone.

Dare I say this, and before I “type” this just know I never typed or said this nor would allow my children to type or say this, but…. Just shy of a racial slur or hate speech… wouldn’t this be protected under right to free speech?

Sensitivity to death is an individual preference. We all have different views and history and some have touched death more than others, so to go to say “this statement” is unacceptable, is a slippery slope unfortunately.

Probably I have experienced it more than most. Does it bother me? Nope grew up in the 80’s when you needed a spine to survive, should it be said? probably not. Solution? grow thicker skin, report & move on with your life.

Factually, no since Blizzard isn’t your government

But this thread is yet another classic example of why the internet and video games are in a state they are. “I left my toddler play video games all day and at some point someone said mean things to them!!! Censor everything!”

By all means if blizzard wants to start filtering on “negative” phrases then go for it. We can take what governs what on another thread.

I’m just playing devils advocate to free speech.

This is a free to play game with easy free accounts. Abusers will just make another account, then another one, then another one, and abuse this game without an end.

Meanwhile good players who had a bad day at work, or simply leave a toxic match for their peace of mind, must wait for 20 minutes or 4 hours, because they have only one account.

Now who is more toxic: the game for allowing abusers with infinite free accounts, or the honest players who simply get punished for being upset at the state of the game or the matches?

Man, if you think the OW community can be better, you’re one hell of an optimist. This game’s community is hell.

bro, look, im not saying its good, but its not that bad. Its overwatch, its not real life. “ky*” is a common phrase, wether you like it or not. I personally think that one should never report for language, cause if your taking offense to something over a videogame? thats kinda sad.

Isn’t that the problem. That it’s become “common” because there is zero self discipline, and limited repercussions for people’s actions on the internet now.

Bad people + bad parenting+ bad enforcement = terrible times for people.
