90% guaranteed to have been plat in season 2. Only people i see using them are people who want to show off they hit GM. Ie. People who dont belong there. People who are just normally GM dont need a title to brag they are in GM they are just used to being there

The OW2 rank system is so bad it’s inflated so many ppl’s SR which the Devs have openly admitted. So many people in GM now who have no business being anywhere near there lol.
At this point we need a new rank above GM.

Ive been a GM player for years, I just like the title since we no longer get emblems anymore. I lost my motivation to even play for top 500 anymore since I’ve been top 500 over 6 times and the titles are also temporary. Ill happily stay at GM, I don’t see how someone rocking a title means they are plat lol.

Because 90% of the people who use it are doing so because they think theyve earned it. They wear it like a badge of honour. When they are just plats who have been boosted to GM

No you cant see your teammates rank.
No you cant see what people play.
If they dont deserve GM take it away from them ffs. Stop leading them into a false sense of security.
You know what will happen? They will eventually get put back to plat and start complaining that they were GM all along. Then the devs are damned if they do, damned if they dont. They reset everyone and loads of people complain theyve fallen 1000+ sr back to plat because they ‘earned’ GM or they do nothing and comp is a dead mode forever.
Right now ranked is literally unplayable because the entire GM rank is full of plat and diamonds who have been massively boosted. So those people either get pushed back down and start complaining that they should be GM or ranked is meaningless and is just another quickplay. 6 months into ow2 and your ranked mode is already a joke

Bro you sound bitter as heck, at the end of the day overwatch is just a freaking video game. No one here is gonna go pro, comp is currently pointless and a complete waste of time. This game is old already, even if you are top 500 now, it doesn’t hold a candle to saying you were top 500 in season 1-10. Its not about catering to players, its just meaningless to even care anymore. Im literally a GM player and I play comp and treat it like its quickplay. I stopped caring a long time ago and I stay in GM or get top 500 for simply playing the game.

I mean its percentage based. More gms means more people playing. There are many reasons people would want care or use the title, just like so many cared about the icon. But by all means dont let that stop the gatekeeping. Your a REAL gm 
it’s so irritating seeing people flaunt it in game especially when they play horribly or use it as an “im better” card when in reality theyre awful and have no idea what theyre doing

Im not bitter, it is literally also ruining matchmaking which is the bigger issue at hand. It doesnt matter if you tighten the matchmaking ranges if you will still get plat players boosted to GM in your GM games.
You can make it only match you with people within your division and it will still not work well while there are plats in Gm
Its not all about the title. That is just the visual indicator of the larger problem. Play for a couple hours and count how many people in your games were GM before last season. It will be the vast minority, I already know. I do it everyday

Matchmaking issues has been used as a crutch ever since gamers found out about matchmaking years ago. There is no such thing as a perfect matchmaking, its literally impossible. You are playing a multiplayer game where people have good and bad days, good and bad games all split between millions of people across different skill levels. Then you have games where you see smurfs and other games where people throw and others get disconnected. There is no such thing a perfect matchmaking. So who cares anymore at this point what people want to do? I could care any less what people do, you shouldn’t either. Its all meaningless
