Maybe don’t try to charge them when people are ready to interrupt you?
Plenty of stun Heroes might not let you charge an ability in their face, but you can usually still easily safely charge E or W from a distance, walk or jump in, smack with fully charged ability, use D for another fully charged hit, then walk out again. Step out if needed, wait 6s, do it again.
Yrel isn’t about straight up running in with all guns blazing, then trading blows until someone dies. She’s got her own ‘combat rhythm’ that you need (learn how) to play with.

You’re absolutely correct. Every hero can shine in certain situations.

If you’re interested, look up Iksir playing Probius. He is a Pro-Player in the CCL that is usually a Healer-Main. But sometimes he can play Probius and he’s wrecking his opponents!
I get the feeling you were fighting a malganis. May have been a good idea to save your trait and knockback for him. Especially sense he can be weak to CC aswell.
I don’t understand the hate on Yrel when Orphea is so popular tbh. They both have wind ups with their abilities.

Yrel gets full effect only when the abilities are fully charged.
Orphea has a bit of delay, but most heroes do. But she doesn’t need to charge her abilities.
The only difference charging makes to her E is the distance, not the damage, so you rarely need to charge that up fully.

I agree she is risky to play, but that does not mean she is the worst hero because of it. In fact I would say she is a very stronger bruiser.
A good Yrel cannot be moved out of a line or even killed.

Correct me if I’m wrong but, I would assume it is safer to cast stuff from a range with Orphea, while Yrel puts her in danger. I would also hazard, Orphea’s skills come out much quicker.
You have obviously not seen a player playing Yrel good.
She needs to be mastered just like any other hero… atleast if you’re trying to pick it in Platinum+
Your animations can be canceled but you can also observe to avoid any hero that CAN cancel it.
YOU can cancel animations too… alot of various heroes.

When you’re escaping, the uncharged version doesn’t do much for you.
Hence the word “rarely” in that post.

Oh no my character can’t wipe out the team 1v5 and actually requires a little bit of forethought to use, waaaaaaaa
edit: I think OP literally just looked at the worst characters according to winrate according to Heroes Profile, saw Yrel, and made this point. There’s more a character’s viabilty than raw winrate. After all, we can ALL agree that Hanzo is a good character, yet due to his technical and difficult gameplay has a winrate of 47%.

Same goes for Medivh, Genji and many others who req high skill and cordination to get value of. Also for OP goes for I bet he dont even have a single game played on Yrel or only played her once and found her bad in that one game.
Just look at master league. Maiev has 56% winrate, Hanzo on 51% Genji at 49% Yrel 48% Medivh at 50%. Normal winrates in master league but drops the lower league you get cause skill lvl drops.

Meanwhile, TheNeedle, Pepper, TheGhost and myself included have around 60% WR this season in master solo queue. And, she’s highly contested in the CCL by Daykwaza, Slughunter/Zergling, Kure, Liam and berghult.
Some picks are stronger like Rexxar, Hogger and Dehaka, but they have a high chance of getting banned. Yrel sits in a comfortable spot if she’s not playing on heavy macro maps like Garden and Warhead. Her biggest power spike is Templar’s Verdict (lvl 16 W), so to take Holy Wrath just to cover the macro would cost her too much.
nope, ‘we’ all can’t agree: Hanzo is a terrible character.
Hiskit has the wrong sort of power balance for his role. Hanzo stagnation is arguable one of the worst things to have happened not only to this game (shimada hgc) but to other ones as well. While some attempts to adress those issues have happened, unfortunately time-travel is not one of the things to have happened

I would rarely give much credit to the in game label descriptions of heroes, but for Yrel it’s pretty accurate:
A deliberate melee Bruiser whose heavyweight abilities reward investment and careful timing.
Of course that doesn’t cover everything, but unlike some other hero descriptions it does a decent job at pointing out some of her complexities. Her trait and use of abilities do need to be deliberate, she’s hardly a hero you can spam abilities (if there is such a hero) and achieve even average results with. If you want a starter bruiser it’s best you just load up as Sonya.

Funny you say that, I had an ARAM game where my ally Junk constantly kept using his Mine to knock the enemy to safety off my skill shots and ULTs and Jaina. In a different game a Mei player was practically pulling her fingernails out (her words) because our ally Junk was doing the same with his mine.
