Twin blades varian is meme tier anyways. Just annoying in quick match. It really does not stand a chance against a team that drafts proper CC.
The only heroes that should be even remotely judged on their damage throughput is sustained damage and even then it still only accounts for a small portion of what makes a good player.
What matters more is your ability to play as a strong opportunist maximizing your impact every second of the match.
What wins games is when a core dies, everything else should be pushing you toward that goal. Nothing else is a higher priority, especially not stat padding.

Not only that - but valeera number goal is to shut down opponents. Which you cannot shut down certain heroes without wound poison. Valeera doesnât need to be the main damage dealer and can let other assassins get the kill while valeera just makes sure they canât escape or heal up.
Of course if you played competitively and with a team who knows what theyâre doing and working together⌠you would understand that hailfail.

Right, her job is to disable the backline and finish off stragglers. She puts pressure on the healer / mages forcing the tank to peel giving up the frontline in the process.
Itâs equally silly to pick Genji for his âdamage.â You pick Genji to harass the backline and secure kills.
Itâs the sustainâs job to apply fight pressure to the frontline and itâs Valeeraâs job to end the fight.
Also lol @ blinding Varian to deal with him, you want the poisons to offset his self heal forcing him to retreat, all blinding him will do is force him to use a Parry / Shield Wall cooldown while the poison applies massive pressure on him and forces him to either back off or commit and die.

Dealing damage matters. Killing things matters. Obviously getting meaningless damage isnt taht valuable. But getting elims vs not getting elims is a big deal.
and make you NOT useless against the whole rest of the team because you didnt pick relentless.
No, dealing effective damage in the context of it furthering your goal toward ending the core matters. Again, the game is decided when one core falls.

Not only this. But there is such thing has having too much damage and not enough utility. As well having too much utility but not enough damage.
You want to avoid overkill damage where it doesnât even matter.
Thatâs why valeera is so good. She can talent into either sustain or burst. She can talent into slows and healing reduction and AoE damage.
If your team already has slows. You can pick the energy talents.
Theres no point stacking utility on top of utility if your other team brings that to the table.
And thereâs no point in stacking damage upon damage if your team already does enough damage. Otherwise damage is wasted and useless which can bite you in the butt by not having enough utility.
You see hailfail this game isnt about you. Itâs about working with a team.
