Here is the deal with zera. Until level 7 he is not even in the game. At 10 he is nothing more than an ult. At 16 he can actually kill something.
With him coming online so slowly, your team should always be a level or 2 up. Where people lose vs him is they dont capitalize on that level lead or they throw when zera hits 16. Normally its they let him get a pick, then do something stupid like 4v5. Which happens because up until that point the game was at best a 4.5v5.
It’s literally not the same.
First off, Zeratul is statistically balanced. He’s just immensely frustrating to deal with. That’s what we’re trying to deal with.
Second, the reason he’s so frustrating now is because he’s so hard to counter. Making him easier to counter means he’d need compensatory buffs to make sure he remains viable.
Therefore, nerfs to his mobility, which makes him difficult to counter, would need to be compensated by buffs to his staying power, as he would now need to commit more to fights.
So he’s doing the same job as Nova and Valeera, only safer. We’re trying to reduce how safe it is for him to do that without making him garbage tier.
Zeratul is not OP. And heroes who are not OP should not get straight nerfs.
But the first levels are early game. He is a very safe soak who has a lot of waveclear.
Early game is not about kills but not dying and xp farming
What can we nerf mobility wise ?
- Shadow hunter (reducing the cdr after full stack)
- twilight falls (most likely give it a 30 - 40 sec cd )
VP build and AA build are garbage already so is nerfing baseline vorpal , E and W even fathomable?
You still have to wait for level 16 for him to be a hero. You really need to be bad if he kills you 1v1 before that unless he has abathur.
As soon as you start team fights is where you get you lead. Which is levels 4-6 you should hit 7 1st. Means you win the 1st and possible the second objective.

Just a edit: you dont have to kill to be effective just haras the backline a lot. Fear is a powerful weapon

So nerf what makes him OP (Sorry “hard to counter” and then we buff as needed, they should NOT happen in the same patch
But he is not that hard to counter. Its litterely the same counter to any diver. Stick with your team.
And then he gets away becasue unlike EVERY other assassin in this game his dash escape is an instant teleport

He has 1 base line blink everything else is conditional . He cant just blink around like most people make it sound. If you think he is that op, draft him for a week. Learn to play him and you will know just how hamstrung he is
DTs arent a problem if you are prepared.

Back to the topic, zeratul is an opportunists killer , if you dont leave oppening and cover each other, he cannot go in .
and you would be wrong plain and simple, There is more to being an OP peic of garbage then just the ability to kill most non tanks in under 2 seconds with perfect escape and never even getting touched though he can do that at 20 too.
Because that’s at all viable in A Solo Que and B during an otherwise equal team fight.

He has 1 uncondtional blink. Every thing else is condtional.
