Whats with all the silences?

Has anyone noticed that there has been a TON of Silenced players recently?

I’ve played moderately consistently over the last year (few times a week for 2-3 games at a time).

Recently I’ve noticed a massive SPIKE in silences where there seems to be one and sometimes (rarely) two silenced players per game (obviously only known to be on my side since you cant see if the other team has them).

I’ve also seen two friends come back to the game who have legit never been silenced and have now gotten silenced 2-3 times in the span of just a few weeks. I obviously cant vouch for them not ragging in games I wasn’t in with them, but they aren’t the type to rage at people in game from my experience.

I’m wondering if anyone else is noticing these trends. If silences are getting doled out too frequently for little reason, I’m fearful that the already small population is going to see a sharp decline that might make the game nigh unplayable.

Probably they shouldn’t talk then.

Cant claim I know it’s fact, but the claims from said friends I know who have been silenced claimed he never spoke outside of party after his first silence.

He’s been silenced twice in three weeks after only returning to the game about a month ago.

I’ve known this guy since Alpha and he’s just not a rager. I’ve also seen his silence email (forwarded, not screenshot) and they dont specify the specific offense.

Again, I’m largely proding the topic to see if anyone else is noticing this trend.

As countless people have said on the forum.

There is no downside for salty players to literally press abusive chat on everyone. It’s automated, there doesn’t seem to be any punishment for overusing it, and it costs nothing.

The more time passes the more trolls and griefers will understand this.

You can appeal them, but it’s frustrating.

Watch out for Ping spam. You can get reported for that too

Are you sure that’s a thing? I find that extremely questionable when you can just mute their pings in-game.

Yes being punished for ping spam is a thing. A few people posted their tickets with GM’s about it on Reddit.

Maybe the random potatoe team generator is on the loose…

People use report button to vent their own frustration, mistakes or anything. They don’t bother changing the report reason and because abusive chat is offered by default, everything falls into that category.

AFK guy in nexus? abusive chat. Xul double soaking and team feeds constantly? abusive chat report. And do not dare defend yourself when somebody insults you, or say anything at all.

Once again, I’ve played this game for 6 years, and never got sileneced, not even once. Thus, I don’t believe those silenced players are unguilty at all.

This tells us absolutely nothing. How many games per day? I can play 6 years too few games in week and flex i never got silenced, yet my average account lifespan is 6 months as i play a lot and actually try to win.

I play around 4 to 6 hours per day. Is it enough?

I hope it satisfies you enough, yes?

What mode? If you only play AI and ARAM practically nobody will report you ever.

If you play 6 hours of Storm League a day that risk goes up exponentially.

Account created october 18 - not 6 years. Stop defending flawed system because you are the anomally.

You can easily prove you’ve been reported for chat by trying to whispering those who reported you. “report murky” for soaking - chat blocked because the reason used was abusive chat.

Just post my screenshot above, feel free to take a look.

Your screen only shows games played though, not where they were played.

Nobody reports people in AI or ARAM games. There isn’t even a post-game screen for some ARAMs.

Mass reports are a big problem in SL and to a lesser extent Quick Match.
(Can be circumvented though: People who only play 1-2 SL a day greatly reduce their risk)

I play mostly Quickmatch and ARAM because I’m not allowed to pick Abathur in ranked. And you dismiss the reports in those modes without any proof, while I see people report the fastest in ARAM because of being salty for not picking tank and support and trash talking.

I can create new account, play mostly aram or qm where people do not care about anything, turn my chat off because i’m antisocial and do not care as well and then i can last 6 years as well.

There is no way you can last even a year without silence in SL playing 6 hours a day provided you play the game as was intended by designers - as a team game.

Sure, when you can’t dismiss my proof, just go on “but your modes are not counted”. Why? Because I say so. The end. Yup.

People are about 100x more likely to report you during the course of a Storm League match (even inside the lobby) compared to an ARAM.

The worst part was losing enemies being able to report you in SL as well, thank god this got patched so their Abusive Chat reports don’t count.
