What part of ASAM ARAM is it that bothers people?

I’ll paraphrase some of the commonly found issues repeated in other topics:

  • Since there’s a ‘fixed chance’ of all players having the same hero, some players think the asam is antithetical to a “random” mode.
  • The removal of choice in same-mirrors.
  • Something lacking from the composition; lacking siege, or durability or heals. Select heroes aren’t as suited for the mode by ‘normal’ conventions.
  • The length of the games. For heroes that can’t survive a single ability rotation, it’s harder for them to take structures and end the game when everyone is just dying to burst combos mid.
  • Lacking talent variety: some heroes aren’t as suited for the mode and fall into stagnant builds that out perform other options. This is doubled on the ‘lack of choice’ at hero selection.
  • “Forced to play” heroes the player isn’t good at using.
  • Key talent breakpoints: one some heroes, a specific talent tier gives them a huge power jump (all tracer matches, first to get ricochet)
  • Lack of ‘normal’ comps. Some people play aram because it’s more prone to getting tank/healer picks than qm.
  • Lack of adaptability. Some players refuse to change build or play style and are overly reliant on someone else to tank/heal for them to barely function in the game.
  • “everyone” leaves. Being down at least one person skews the game balance worse than standard games, so if one person leaves, it can incentivize someone else to leave.
  • It’s easy to blame.
  • “Nobody asked for this” despite people clearly requesting it.
  • It doesn’t play the same as dota/lol/whatever’s version.
  • No weekly chest for enduring the option.
