At the time, both of us told ourselves that the money was worth the hassle.
Spoiler alert: it wasn’t. She quit as soon as she found out she was pregnant because the stress of dealing with him was too much for the baby. I quit a few days later because I was tired of getting Discord messages that just read “(insert term for male genitalia)”.
That’s why I make soap now, lol.

I know I wasn’t supposed to, but this line made me chortle a little bit ROFL.
I’m glad you’re not in that environment anymore. That’s not a good place to work.

The discussion is whether a casual moba can be fun

Of course it can be, why wouldn’t it?
Most of the games I highly enjoy are some of the most casual games.

well, heroes of the storm would be interesting if it had a story mode too. imagine they could do something of a dna copy of all of the toughest heroes. some being who wanted to see a death match of all the toughest heroes summons them via copying their dna and putting them in the story mode. they force that hero to fight other heroes they summon (which would be an A.I. progression). So…for instance, they could summon arthas’s dna and then force him to fight through all of the characters created thus far. the entire story could be “you need to go through these missions and defeat these things in order to get back to your realm.” once you defeat everything, its revealed you are just a copy of the dna of which ever character and the summing being kills you. idk, i think they could do some story stuff with this game too. there is a lot they could have done with it.
i’d be interested in paying a couple bucks to complete a story mode and get some skins and mounts associated with that story mode.

The whole point of an esport is to be competitive. Competitive games bring in the views. If you want competitive e-monopoly then try it.

Ummm, I think you’re missing the point here.
You shouldn’t develop a game with having it be an e-sport as your focus. You make a fun, competitive game first, then an e-sport will develop from it organically.
If the game isn’t fun to play, it likely won’t be fun to watch either.

HOTS doesn’t want to be competitive. Out of the 3 mobas it’s the most simple one(yes I’ll get arguers saying that doesn’t mean non-competitive).

Competitive and casual are not mutually exclusive, Tooton.

Look at it this way. There are basically 3 levels of competition.
- Competition with one’s self.
- Basically beating your own records, overcoming a goal, beating a boss you’ve never beaten, etc.

- Competition within one’s inner circle.
- Competition with friends, guild / clan members, or a community.

- Competition against the world / region
- Competing against everyone, like a ladder, leaderboard, rank, or some other metric which you are judged against everyone else.

Competitive games need not even be multi-player. Take Donkey Kong for example. People still to this day compete for a high score. People compete in speed runs of many single player games.
The point is, the creators of Donkey Kong didn’t set out for it to be a competition, it just happened organically. Blizzard needs to step back, work on making great IPs like they used to, and let e-sports develop organically from good design.
You need people playing your game to get people interested in watching others play your game competitively.
