Its against the rules because we don’t know which and which isn’t really until people check the replay or use a replay from years ago doing specific action as revenge posting.
No, from what we know, it’s pretty much exclusively an automated system with very little interaction from Game Masters UNLESS you happen to get ahold of a developer on the HOTS reddit and get them to look at a replay or something. Although I haven’t been suspended from HOTS in years (I think I got a 24 hour suspension for “toxic chat” once maybe a year and a half ago?), my last interaction was me asking for chat logs or at least a point in a replay proving that I was toxic and I basically got told to kick rocks, they weren’t going to provide me with evidence of anything (probably because they didn’t want to look at a replay or chat logs or it was simply an automated response). Other members have echoed similar issues with “Game Masters” over the past 2 years or so.
They CAN watch games but they often don’t and in many cases, the process+ appeal process seems to be totally automated. Having a system where you can basically force the staff member who “looks” at the report to see the replay and even mention certain behaviors to look out for would be a better system.
Right now the report system is basically us sending a message into the void and hoping it’s read by someone and not some automated algorithm, which it probably is considering how many people have been suspended for “toxic chat” and how few have been suspended for feeding and afking.
If you leave once in a blue moon, there is no punishment.
Maybe the leaver queue runs from -1 or -2 and decreases once per month / resets after a long period.
If you leave, your team at least has an AI. Whether it’s a plus (contribution) or minus (feeding), depends.
Not sure how AFK detection could work.
Sometimes the only thing you can do is passive soaking, so judging by stats isn’t useful. Late game teamfight going wrong, being suddenly 1v5 on a pushed out map, you should just recall and wait those 60 seconds.
Griefing with vote kick is also possible - hence that should result in no penalties, hence it could be abused (“please kick me”).
Report these players. If they keep doing it, they shall get punished. Otherwise, well, not much to do. There are false reports and you might end up banned just because you met the wrong team or didn’t want to flex into X hero. Welcome to middle ground.
What that means is that the reporting system itself needs a complete overhaul. I don’t deny that. But that should be the target and not the addition of yet another system on top. Thanks for the explanation though, I wanted to know if I got you right.
Maybe they shouldnt have fired all those CS reps >_>
I mean, what would it solve? It’s not like you get a choice on who you get matched with unless you were in a 5 man group but if that was the case, you’d have no reason to name and shame in the first place.
If you had the option to alienate someone because they’re known trolls, sure, it could work but simply naming and shaming would change nothing. They don’t read your reports, and they won’t read your whine posts about X player doing A, B, and C.
In WoW, scrubs like that would have to change servers back in Vanilla because no one would group with an identified troll. Trade chat was filled with alerts about a specific player until they changed realms and unless they wanted to continue to spend money on realm xfers, they’d eventually clean up their act without losing their account.
When there’s less player agency and more ambiguity (easier access to name changes, boosts, etc) then naming and shaming has zero effect aside from saving you money to vent to a therapist.
Get a therapist.
If I’m not wrong, they already commented on improved afk detection, option to anchor the bots to the spawn area and some other adjustments so you don’t fall too farm behind in the first minutes of the game. I guess we could expect some of these with the next content patch.
This I can stand behind for ranked games. Wouldn’t make too much sense with QM or brawls, but could be introduced as well with a bit less severe punishment.
lol that is a smart move hahaha
I do agree and I do not
This Wednesday Grubby had some rough times…
In one match he spawned, ran directly into the enemy team (supposedly to defend, Battlefield of Eternity), got killed 1v5. On team chat he explained, but to the 5th player it probably did look like a tilted move (obvious feed).
In the other, he was a bit tryharding and managed to die twice in unnecessary fashion, clearly overextending, one could say he was feeding. (Unconscious overconfidence, hello friend.)
Do you provide the 30 seconds of spawn to feed?
Do you provide the match?
Do you provide the stream, including Discord voice chat?
(Do you provide the entire 190 minutes of the stream?)
It correlates with:
Enforcing this is tricky.
Hats off to those without a bad moment, ever, though!
My current record is 8 games in a row where I get players that do this, Side record of 3 games in a row with the exact same player.
Afking in this game is just out of control, ive seen stuff where players will just afk behind turrets, attack 1 minon then run back to avoid the afk timer. Like wtf
Holy hell, I would say the same!
I’m not getting such shenanigans for a while in my matches. Disconnects are fairly frequent, but no griefing. Maybe the EU playerbase is on the healthy side?
Maybe QM players are better at being sane? But why would anyone ruin SL? Is rank tanking so rampant?
I swear people que for SL to lose games and troll people on purpose. I should start my own streaming/ youtube channel to show how many trolls I get matched with in this game.
That’s fine because I never said I was opposed to it that:
yes this is what I suggested: Being able to attach a full replay, not just 30 seconds of a match. I’m aware that people can abuse reports by simply uploading parts of a match they want to but if you require Full Replays only, that potential abuse goes away.
There are a lot of players who simply do not care, hence OP’s entire post complaining about people constantly afking.
pretty sure if you saw “random player” doing the same as he did you would say he’s feeding. not because he’s a streamer = he don’t deserve getting reported for that. why would you go 1v5 to defend the objective all by yourself to begin with? you should only poke / if you were johanna blind them and pull them to you / stun them with ult if you were 10+ etc but stay there and die why? and why you shouldn’t be blamed for it? a streamer or not you cannot do something and get off with it.
I had a SL game like that recently. There was this player who first picked Murky simply because the person banning didn’t ban what he felt should be banned.
This Murky died 10 times (so actually 40) on TOTSQ on purpose giving the enemy team endless gems to pick up, had the lowest siege and XP and more than twice the deaths of anyone on the team.
When one person on the team said people should report him, the two others said “why, reports for AFK/Feeding do nothing”… I couldn’t really argue with them on that and the abusive chat report shouldn’t be used as a substitute.
However this person had been extremely abusive, yet nobody wanted to report him for that either.
Just had another game, this time in ARAM, where we had an AFKer who rejoined every time they got booted. It was a game we easily could have won if this piece of trash had actually tried participating (we held them off 4v5 for over 15 minutes against 2 Azmodans), but apparently they were salty about the comps and wanted to sandbag.
Honestly, with how useless the AFK/feeding reports are, I think abusive chat is a fine substitute. These people deserve to be punished for AFKing/feeding, and if those won’t do as official reasons but abusive chat will, then that’s fine by me. Even if it’s a lighter punishment like a silence, as long as it signals to them that this is not acceptable it will have to do.
Welcome to HOTS 2020, either play in a five stack or don’t que at all
The trouble with this is none of my friends will play SL anymore.
Yeah it reminds me of some eighties or nineties sitcom where a character has a cringe one-liner they have to say in every episode. cue canned laughter
I’m pretty sure that’s the point. He’s just trolling, feel free to donate a report to him.
It reminds of a 7 year old child who knows how to swear but his mother in the next room and it listens and reads everything on his phone.
