This game has about a year left I bet

It’s lost a critical mass of users. People are now leaving just because the population is so low not because of the issues the game has.

I blame dabiri and the ranked/balance team for HoTS failure.

They cut the head off. All the veterans, people who have experience. That follow the game. Most of them left with the HGC.

Not really. Horrible matchmaking has been this game’s downfall.

If matches were actually fair, maybe more people would have stayed. The pro scene is such a small subset of the game that it’s laughable to think that it’s what caused the downfall of the game.

One year? Haha… I think most people here would have quit the game in less time than that.

People seriously underestimate the downwards spiraling effects of a low population multiplayer game

It just seems like a lot of new guys. My new account gets games pretty quick. Yet i read people are having trouble with ques. It makes sense that these may be older accounts. Nobody is playing TL. AI for me is a sure thing. QM is quick.

It would be hillarious if this game was still there after a year.

Shouldn’t you rename into “your mother” or “your senile grand mother” at this point naging the same thing 3 years in a row?

Geoxyx needs to find something better to do with his time lmao
It’s getting sorta pathetic now.

People have been making those ‘1 year left’ predictions for how many years now?

Came back to play a bit, wait 20 minutes in QUICK match. Leave again same day…

Admittedly it’s 4am currently, maybe shorter in day time but jesus. You can’t get 10 people to play at once in North America?

I don’t play HL because it’s awful. TL is great when enough friends are on.

But i must say, the unranked matches i’ve played lately have been really great. Even the losses have felt like close games. I mean, there’s a stomp now and then for sure (both us stomping and us getting stomped) but it’s not like they are common occurrences.

I think the match maker is doing a fine job in unranked. QM is what it is. HL is absolute trash, worse quality matches than unranked and TL is a bunch of fun when you have the bodies to do it.

Overall, i think the game is working pretty well.

Yeah, except for China where Netease is supporting the game, I think HoTS at global most likely will cease to exist after next year.

No. I stopped play this game because devs totally destroyed all things what i loved here.

Recap:
QM sucks, HL sucks, TL sucks unless you can stack a 5 man team, Unranked is fine. Therefore “I think the game is working pretty well”. Makes no sense.

No they didn’t, most of the actual HGC players still stream from time to time. Are most of these players playing other games? Of course, but that’s because they can’t focus on something that isn’t actively paying them. They’re still setting teams up for different tournaments and events.

Streamers an hgc guys themselves play from time to time. I was talking about the watchers. The players who thought the was gonna get there. They was going to HGC. was gonna get to the top. Changing the forums was like coffin nails. The guys on top or who wanted to compete on that level. Who took it serious for real are gone

Good recap.

I almost exclusively play unranked and it works great.

Expecting QM to be anything other than what it is is dumb.

TL is great cause you play with friends.

People that don’t know what the hell they’re doing seem to flock to HL so it is bad.

Yeah, i think the game is working pretty well. I think the consensus is that HL is a bad experience, but i’m not clear as to what they could do to fix it. If unranked works great, the problem isn’t their system, but the types of players that are drawn to HL.

EDIT: Just saw the new PTR notes. Looks like they’re on the right path.

I don’t know how much time is left, but I had some thoughts yesterday:

  • I don’t recall any substantial changes to the game engine, only massive additions of visual clutter (emojis, sprays) and visual fidelity improvements (e.g. the button bar) - abilities and heroes are by and large parameters and graphics
  • things cut out that made the game more versatile & special: ammo / Mule, some camp types, specialist gameplay (not a big deal), several early or characteristic maps (Grave Golem, Garden of Terror, Blackheart’s Bay, Hanamura, Warhead)

Thus apart from the habit and possible addiction, not sure what keeps people going. (Okay - new heroes. Shooting a red bolt instead of a blue bolt.)

Considering that the game was created over so many years (working demo in 2010 or so), I feel it was always low budget and frankly, it’s maintenance mode from the get go, just milking the SC2 engine a little further.

Also, for me it was interesting because I could play some cool characters from well known universes (Malfurion, Valla, Sylvanas, Li-Ming) in a different setting.

I’ll play it as long as I enjoy it, but I can see an issue with gaining new followers. Blizzard IP is getting old, not seeing anything new on the horizon. There are some mighty fine matches (Heroes Lounge et al.) but with some 1000 viewers, nobody will notice until specifically told.
