I’ve only used the whisper with one or two individuals, both of whom always go afk or simply do not contribute, at all, during a match.
Speaking of which:
VS A.I with A.I teammates exists, or just do not play any multiplayer games that you cannot immediately drop if life comes up. There are so many gaming options for an unpredictable and busy life that disrupting other players online is borderline intolerable in this day and age.
You will become persona non grata if you keep disappearing in multiplayer games where teammates need you present and will start getting reported, blacklisted, and otherwise FORCED to move onto another game if you continue to be unreliable. Or if you still are able to play the game you keep ghosting in online friends will do gymnastics to avoid being in the same group as you. Either way, you will get alienated even if the system does not punish you for going afk. People will get creative in their means of avoiding you.
Once in a blue moon is fine so long as you tell your teammates depending on the game, but if it becomes a frequent occurrence whatever tolerance others have for you will dry up fast.
A couple people who frequently do such a thing I will immediately warn my teammates of their behavior at the start of a vs A.I match. One will complain about being “called out” (does not change their behavior) while another does not react at all.
Granted, it is A.I, so their non-participation is often not that impactful but is still highly annoying.
