Thanks for a GG - Deposit your joy here! (Part 1)

I had one game where 4 people chased him half way through the map and Murky would spam them with sprays cause it was so dumb. And yea we lost that game.

I see your Spiel guys - leave the Murky alone, let him win solo
Part of the issue was that our Illidan was losing to Murky, and I guess in the 4 man, too, on top of having forced teamfights for the Immortal. Plus, 1+1, we had Stitches, Leoric, Illidan, KT and Li Li. Not exactly a race comp with all of that cleave. But they had Zarya, so again I wasn’t fond of going AA. In fact, I absolutely never am in SL. Not because winrates, but it’s a recurring experience, being cornered like that. Double mage sounds better.

Today’s match wasn’t stellar but I’ve cleaned some windows and installed Windows 10.
The windows are pretty but Windows has no sound due to missing some drivers.
In any event, I’m happy enough with the progress and hope to resolve this. I really don’t like the boot time of this installation, it’s about 5 minutes until everything settles. Win10 is like 3 seconds. Not bad from an 8 years old PC, now is it?

Uh-oh, this thread might turn into my blog!

Had a nice day yesterday. First, I played Ragnaros and finally I won two matches. I would say I was slightly carried but after 1:5 or so lifetime, it makes some sense. (And then the loss on 3rd.)

Anyway. After a break I move on to SL, I get to play Jaina. B2+440, I should be able to do this, right, let’s roll! So as soon as the game starts, it crashes. I rush over to my laptop, it starts quick but then it wants to update WoW, of course there is a Windows Update slowing things, basically it is as slow as my 8 years HDD installation.

I make it back by level 6, team kept it together. My AI didn’t die. I still can pick talents. Good. I proceed to die 4 times, because I really try to make up for dropping. But then! We’re behind so I default to roaming, clearing waves, rotating into random teamfights, also get comfy with this other mouse and screen. Eventually a steady victory.

(And another one, and then a bad loss on Anub. That was an absolute nonsense comp on our end: Deathwing, Maiev, Valeera, Li Li, Anub. Chances are I should have considered my team tanky enough and taken a comfy mage, though I wasn’t 5th pick.)

I enjoy reading your posts, Aphandra, so I’m fine with that outcome. This thread and “The Salt Mines” do sometimes feel a little like a “dear diary” format, but Hots centric.

I think the more honest reason why I don’t write about many of my Salt matches in TSM anymore, is probably because I don’t want to have a written record I can look back on, those matches are usually just better forgotten.

alright bestie boos
I have just had three of the most thrilling aram matches
so after being absolutely crushed against a 5 stack and a ect that refused to accept he was the problem (see salt post) I matched again and got
Jaina
zeratul
nazeboo
I recently snowballed with naz and I was feeling rather angry and agressive so I picked jaina.
now originally I only play q build
but for some reason I cant ever pull the shots off so I went full shotgun build plus a little blizzard on the side
and my god I never felt so go walking into the enemy team with the blaze W and E again and again and again watching them scatter and panic as I wiltled there health down
now at first i didn’t think I’d be able to pull it off I did die about three times including a team wipe mainly due to the li mings… questionably accurate aim
oh but then we hit lv 13… i had numbing cold… and most of them were melee save an anduin and that li ming
a little ring of frost at the back, a sprinkle of blizards there, and a WHOLE lot of snow cones and the had to retreat pretty quickly but it was too late

next up
Jaina
tyrael
mal’ganis
three guesses who I immediately went for
now it was harder to access the back line sylvanas and Naz were pokey (not powerful, kerrigan was my main fear)
but once again my cone of absolute hatred twwards them was very effective
granted we lost a fort but it was null at the end

and to finish off I had
chromie
zeratul
malganis
we were heavy in melee department so chromie did the trick. MY GOD I CARRIED THEIR BUTTS
while I had the highest siege and hero damage they all had 7-8 deaths
you’re welcome because any sane person would of said “nah” and afk
oh and this was against an alarak that fancied a little bronze steak

Kind of pointless and ruins the whole multiplayer experience. I will agree that the game is best played with no chat being utilized because it is nothing more than a distraction. If absolutely necessary, you should use it only to ask your team about future talent choices or for sharing a key observation on the enemy team, everything else can be pinged.

I won’t talk with you, say gg to you and if I notice anyone slightly annoying who might help me earn a permanent ban, I’ll just silence them before I get provoked into replying back.

Having read this solidifies my opinion of the whole “social contract” even further. It can be reverted sure, but I’d entirely rather avoid finding myself in the same position where I have to bother explaining how I may have been wronged. Two of my appeals in the past have resulted with abandoning the whole process because customer support has reading comprehension of a six year old, if you even get lucky enough to run into a warm body that is.

At last
I have finally found a whitemane that matches my level of expertise.
you are worthy of the whitemane
but considering I don’t remember who you are, this status is revoked.

Yeah, one reason I like the solo in competitive games, is that you can easily tell the skill of your opponet. Whereas in 5, vs 5 fight, you don’t really notice someone playig particularly well.

Often, in the first 10 seconds I think to myself. “Ok, this guy knows what he’s doing” and I know which strategies won’t work.

Sounds like your sub could become a regular. Well done

Nicely done Phase. I tip my hat to you for joining an amateur league, that would be far too much pressure for me.

I remember Hoku had joined one of the Hots amateur leagues not long before she stopped posting here. She mentioned that participating in this format was not only fun, but improved her overall performance and skill level.

Oh, I played with NGS before. I was even Captain at some point. But I don’t have the time to do it full time anymore.

Yeah, that actually made her agree with a lot of the things she disagreed with me on before lol. Especially about XP.

And btw, I took my loot box number down to a nice clean number just for you. Even opened 3 Tracer boxes.

I hate posting in here. What could have been a complete disaster against pretty much all teams turned our opponents completely impotent. I’m surprised how calm everyone was and how fast it took us to realize we can’t lose. Uther casts 50 armor on disabled ally, 25% dmg reduction against burst with his hammer and Whitemane becoming unkillable with her own 50% debuff.

more proof that QM is utterly terrible, when a competitively top of the league team compliments you yet your record is filled with losses

Will try to keep this short. This was such a fun match in ARAM with a premade group of 4 as Tychus:

I am an average player and a very average Tychus player, Ty is a good hero, but sometimes I just forget he exists. The point of this post is not to say “Wow, didn’t I do great”, but rather “Wow, look how that team elevated my game.”

That is what they did, I was “carried” to that performance, I lost count of how many times Andiun saved me with a clutch use of his trait, my deaths should be much higher than 1. This is also a good example of how Tyrael isn’t in a need of a rework (I will concede this player took too much advantage of Tyrael’s trait!), it’s just he isn’t a generalist and works best with coordinated groups.

Thanks again to that team who made me feel welcome and made me play far better than I had any rights to.

I don’t always play Alarak, but when I do, I end up 14 - 0 with 25 assists.

There is no proof that you were even in that game

i had actual human beings on my team once instead of nova nazeebo asmodan sgt hammer it made the game fun for me

That’s true and fair Phase. I have very good reasons for not sharing my main account name here.

I don’t want to go into details, some regulars here already know, but after I was stupid and shared personal information here, this account was compromised by a troll poster, who is still posting on various alts to this day. That is why I even had to set this posting account to private.

As I know people can’t look up my matches, I refrain from posting in The Salt Mines or even here. I did want to share that game, though, because so many players aren’t aware when a team is elevating their skill, and that was exactly what happened in that match.

Rewatching the replay, I gave even less credit to Andiun than I should. He was basically pocketing me the entire match. So as I said, this was not really about me, but about how skilled players/teams can support an average player and make you seem far more skilled with a hero than you really are.
