Thanks for a GG - Deposit your joy here! (Part 1)

I wish to commend the F2P Nova player for restoring my faith in the hero after a week of playing with the worst, most terrible Nova players I’ve ever seen. This Nova didn’t just sit mid and not rotate lanes for obvious ganks. Indeed this Nova was friendly and responded to me when I asked her to gank the over-extended Sylvanas top and got an early kill.

You’re probably thinking, “of course a Nova should rotate and pick off a squishy hero that is literally sitting on enemy towers”, well grats, you didn’t play with the other Nova’s I have this week who thought either lanning solo or just sitting mid hoping for any kill was the way to go.

She even took bribe (smart move on Sky Temple) and Precision Strike rather than a wasted pick of Triple Tap vs a team with multiple stasis and high HP’s (2 tanks, 1 Bruiser, one Naz with Iceblock.) She also took armor reduction on her AA and Pinning Shot and she told jokes too, so thank you Nova player for repairing my faith in Nova’s everywhere.

This is totally sincere. I could have made 10 Salt Mines posts due to the terrible and toxic Nova players I’ve had to play with in the past few days.

The last few days of matches were in decent quality I’d say. It’s not that the quality of players on my team have been improving, nor that I’ve had a significant boost in winrate all is normal, but overall I’ve been less and less on the opposite side of a stomp, and the games felt “fair” for lack of a better term. Is good. 7/10

Looks like I’m getting on the easier side of MM today which I’m grateful after all the scourging.

I’m often joking around about 0 damage wins. This was clearly easy because reasons, but the point is about this (competent) Illidan. 53% winrate across 120 matches, I trust that.

I also got the undead horse in the reward chest.

The actual best game (so far) is the 4th.
It started really nasty, the enemies had a rotation blowup comp and they really tried to execute, picking me twice in the first minute or two. But! They should have kept this strategy past mid-game, because we had to get smart and just 4 man the entire thing. Our Murky left mid game, so I had a trusty follower. Was a tough match, but it felt good to outsmart the outsmart. We had random opportunities, pounced on them, one settlement at a time, and at one point the opponents also got desperate which didn’t help them.

Played with a group of friends last night, and had a decent run in both SL and QM (Anub is busted). But I have to admit, my favorite game was the last one, where a few of us were just having fun in QM. We had lost the previous match on ToD (bad random Orphea kept insisting on trying to 1v5 them, even my Johanna couldn’t save her), so when one of my friends switched to Abathur for our last game, I couldn’t resist. It was time to break out my favorite Hierarch.

I didn’t go PoA, even with a pocket Abby, because it was Infernal Shrines and I never trust randoms to do camps and things properly. Given the map and the fact they had an Illidan, I went AO and Q build. Even without AA talents, Artanis with a hat is a blender in the typical QM no tank match.

As my friend who was playing the Abby said in voice chat, “Hoku is having too much fun right now.”

But I do have to give credit to the random Anduin on our team, his Lightbomb timing was delicious.

Bump!
My Valla day is being inverse repeated on Ming, it’s 15:1 so far. My rule of two losses kind of simplifies my day. HotS in the morning, HotS in the afternoon, F1, HotS in the evening.

Mini feedback - the How fair was the last match question is a bit ambiguous. The way I understand it, it caps out when it was difficult, ideally won. Sure, the system tends to ask it more when the takedown score is very unfair (30:8). Yet, How easy was the last match would be better for me. Sometimes I wonder after responding 3 for a snowball in our favor, whether the system thinks it wasn’t easy enough.

ps.: Forced 52% kappa
ps2: It actually fits my theory described in the Mines
ps3: There were some easy matches but maybe sleeping 19 hours over the last few nights did wonders. I’m not feeling different but I might be.

ps4: Quit jinx worked. Had a 4v1 core option around level 22 but team decided to scatter and I was too… committed to it. Then we didn’t gain our momentum back. Still, can’t complain about a 15:2 day!

Just had an afk, but in draft. So at least this time I don’t auto lose a game.

Enemy five stack starts the game with 4 kills, things are looking grim
The moment we managed to kill the Nova one time though we steamrolled the rest of the match despite teamfighting 4v5 without heroics.

5 stacks allways got a weak link. Its just a matter of time before you figure it out and take advantage of it. Then the premade team will fall and start splitting apart and start making stacker deaths.

never has a character made me go “Wait, we won? and I got MVP? what did I do???” than Chen

Went in ARAM as my least favorite hero because nobody wanted to be healer. I hate malfurion so much. I’m pretty awful with him as a result. But anyway we won. Enemies overextended all died in our base. We just marched in theirs and ended. We were losing the entire match it was a miracle. I had half the healing the enemy stukov had. And only mid game did I realize moonfire or whatever its called renewed the regrowth all my allies have on them if I cast it on enemy heroes. Which probably helped in the comeback.

Think I found myself a new hero I love to play now. Yep Zarya. She protect with shields and I love to protect with shields just like I did with Old Tass.

That feeling when it is the enemy team that first picks Nova.

Who goes Triple Tap.

On Braxis.

As Nova would say “Gotta love that!” The proviso being of course that kind of Nova is on the enemy team. Since the last Nova balance patch I’ve seen more Nova players taking Precision Strike in QM. I still see Triple Tap taken more often and usually when there is almost no chance it will get value.

The buffs to PS are a little bonkers, especially so at 20, I don’t know how much they need to buff it to make it more attractive to your average Nova player over TT. I guess TT being a point and click ability rather than a skill shot might mean Triple Tap will always be the more popular pick.

I think it tilted the enemy team hard, as they ended up not drafting any tank at all. Their front line was Deathwing, but he was up in top lane against me most of the match (I will give you three guesses which hero I drafted! :stuck_out_tongue: )

I wouldn’t exactly say it was a fun game, stomps, even when you are winning, just don’t feel all that satisfying. But I was absolutely stupified she took that heroic.

And used it on a full health Artanis.

Speaking of Novas. She is not even on free rotation but I had her in my games in like 70% of my games the past 4 days now.

Is TT meme-bad or really bad?
There are (too) many ults (including PS) that feel so ineffective to me. Sometimes the hero is balanced without it, but.

Almost felt sorry for enemy team.

Junkrat only one doing anything while Butcher/Zera/Whitemane/Hanzo instant leave the game after first object lose and game ends after only 7 min and 40-0 in score on Towers of Doom.

In QM, it’s not bad bad, no. Problem is, some Nova(s) don’t know when not to pick it nor when to use it, which can be detrimental as it has 100 sec cd, one of the longest in HotS. In larger maps, when used decently, it can be hell to enemy team (I once picked it against Medivh-Zeratul comp in Alterac. they were super aggressive, wrecking havoc. figured TT will be deadly at later game when both sides front structures were down, enemy more spread out trying to macro).

PS can be iffy to hit without CC. But in a full on teamfight with the right CC, AoE ult with that much dmg can inflict a lot of pain. Plus, I’m pretty sure Rewind is the default choice for the on-demand burst combo to delete enemy hero, but I like PS ult upgrade so much. 25 sec (30 before) cd means you can use it very liberally. The longer the game drags on, top siege dmg Nova isn’t something special to achieve.
