Please remove all the same hero ARAM

Even if mirrors are gone it wont stop people from complaining about normal ARAM games.

People will start complaining about you not picking the only tank/healer option.
Or complain about enemy team got a much better team comp then yours.

Toxic people will always find something new to complain about so it wont help a thing.

This disgusting feature should have never been added.

Yeah, all this mode does is just create a very obvious wall between good players and not the best players… whoever has the best players win… can never have an oh dang, comeback moment in these…

In fact, right now, its all about whatever team has the most alt f4 players… the other one wins by default lol

+1. Confine this terrible experience to custom game lobbies.

I was thinking the very same. Most people complaining about mirror games, won’t be happy until MM are completely removed and when that happens, they will just go back to complaining about heroes like Azmdoan, who can feel too oppressive in ARAM.

To be fair to me, I was speaking to Cpat, who said:

If you have an exisiting account, there is no reason to “make a fourm account.” That still makes no sense to me.

I feel like this statement groups all complaints in one big pile. A sort of, there will always be some complaining, so why bother address it type of philosophy.

At the end of the day, I don’t think it’s a bad idea. I just personally really really don’t like it, but do enjoy playing standard ARMA. And if the experience is really that jarring, just ringfence it out.

This wasn’t my intention. To clarify, there are about four regular posters who make new MM complaint threads on a weekly basis. Prior to the MM change to ARAM, these same posters would routinely make threads requesting that Azmodan, Li-Ming and other heroes they didn’t like, be removed from ARAM.

Like you, I also don’t like MM in ARAM, and complaints such as yours are in good faith, unlike some others here.

I like MM. Really gives people no excuses on why they lost. Whoever is the best wins and that’s how it should be.

Because there will always be people complaining no matter what happens. Remove mirror games and you will be back to what people were complaining about 5 years ago.
Then they will be back asking to remove Li-Ming/Zuljin or just any oppressive range hero that can stack dmg or get easy kills while being safe.

And dont forget about people that will flame you for not picking the only tank or healer option your team had or leaves the game cause opponents team comp is much better than yours. People will always complain.

If the players just relaxed abit and did not act like ARAM was a serious game mode like they act it is then it would become 10x more fun. Why do people need to quit out mirrros when its just a clown mode you can have fun in ?

Thats becasue people take every game mode seriously and always want meta comps or els you are just wasting his time. Like have some creativity with the heroes you got. Pick some talents that are not usually picked and see how it ends up. Winning should not be your 1 prio when you play ARAM.

Thats why you see so many who want mirrors gone. Cause they got no creativity and always want meta comps.

My last mirror was an all Raynor game and no one surpricely left. We all played the game out and had the map spammed with Hyperions. That was the most fun I have ever seen. Nothing to be mad about.

Instead of asking for everything to be removed why not give it a try ? If you end up hating it then its ok. You can still play something els then. If you love it then ARAM will be alot more fun then it already is.

Most people you see here who just alt f4 out right away out of every mirror game dont even gave it a try. They saw a mirror and left on the spot.

If people just stopped being a quitter then they might find mirrors fun like this one.

Ok I changed my mind, ASAM fenix is hilarious. : r/heroesofthestorm (reddit.com)

Embrace the chaos instead of always only want meta comps.

I agree with a lot of those things that you’re saying, but my objection is that it’s a fundamentally different dynamic than ARAM. The same reason that ARAM is separate and distinct from QM, and Rank, is that they are not interchangeable.

My proposition is that the same distinction be made between ARAM and All Mirror (AM), as it is fundamentally different enough that it shouldn’t be grouped in with ARAM.

If it were just a matter of embracing the chaos, or not caring about the meta, it’d be fine. It’s the genuinely painful experience it forces me into for 15-20 minutes, assuming I don’t want to be a jerk to my teammates. It’s an experience I didn’t want to sign up for. There’s zero reason to subject a player to this, given they can fix this with something as simple as an ‘opt-in to AM’ on the matchmaking screen.

If you wanted to play QM and you suddenly got thrown into ARAM randomly, I’m sure you’d be annoyed (if not, many others would be). This would be especially annoying if it were done by design.

Some complaints are inherent in the very mechanics of the game - those will be tough to solve, and it’s almost always going to an endless level of subjective complaints. It’s just that picking something as simple as a game mode shouldn’t be.

Please elaborate

AGREED. Please remove, separate or make optional “All Same”, which is not ALL random.

Might I remind people that they’re perfectly okay with one team getting three of the same while the other only gets one/none of that same character.
three mephistos are horrible to deal with
three Li-mings are one hellish game of dodge ball
and don’t get me started on multiple Kel’thuzads

Yea its stange is it not ? They all rage quit from 5v5 mirror games but are perfectly fine staying around if his team is a standard comp vs a team with 3 Mephistos. The irony. Just more reason why Blizzard should not cater to the crying minority.

Sure, so the few that come to mind:

  1. Composition Selection - in ARAM you get to choose one of three heroes; you generally make a selection in relation to the general team. You don’t always get ideal picks, but you choose in some way what strengths and weaknesses the overall team will play with. In Mirrored there really isn’t even a point to that screen, everyone is already pre-selected.

  2. Hero Alternatives - if a player really doesn’t like a specific hero, they can pick one of the other two. In Mirrored, they’re stuck with that, period. No room for negotiation. No option to pick the least of the worst.

  3. Talent Dispersion - ARAM is great for having a broad set of skills, similar to QM in this sense, versus Mirrored which locks the entire game into one hero’s talent selection, really limiting game dynamics.

  4. Gameplay Dynamics - this is probably the biggest one for me personally. You don’t (on average) have people really playing roles, everyone just tends to pile into the same thing. There is room for some dynamic play, like have one Zeratul jump into the middle trying to bait out other talents, so that the rest of the team can jump in, but this is a completely different dynamic that that played for the role selection game setup. Not to say it’s objectively worse or better, only that it is fundamentally different given the player base history (almost like a mini or custom game).

The thing with this is that you could be someone who genuinely loves those things about mirrored, and there’s nothing wrong with that. But should they really be considered interchangeable within a given type? And if someone thinks that they are similar enough to be interchangeable, how do they explain the level of frustration from other players on this point?

All of your 4 points are the same.

  1. Composition selection: the ability to select one of three Heroes
  2. Hero alternatives: having different Hero options
  3. Talent dispersion: everyone has the same Hero so same talent tree
  4. Gameplay Dynamics: same Hero, so same function in the team

Imo, Arams fundamentals:

  • All random (allows duplicates)
  • All on a single lane

True, that Aram in HotS is only semi random, because you can choose from 3 randoms instead of just getting 1 and period, but fundamentally you still got a random Hero after all. Random can mean more ppl get the same, which can mean everyone getting the same once in the blue moon.
Even with 3 random picks, you can get Heroes who you don’t want to/can’t play, making it so you don’t have real options. After all, most players have a fairly limited Hero pool they’re confident with and from 90 (less in aram but still most), it’s possible to have multiple disliked ones.
Since players could get 3 of the same Hero even without the readdition of All Same, more than half of the team picked from the same talentree. But the good thing is, having 6 tiers with 3 options and 1 tier with 2 is enough for diversity. On random Heroes most ppl don’t even know the best builds or agree upon on.
Just because not everyone got the same Hero, they can all still have the same role and purpose/function in the match. And just because everyone has the same role (even if as the same Hero), they can fulfill different roles (as you kinda mentioned). Talents are really good for that in most cases.

So overall, thank you for the answer but I’m far from convinced from the fundamentally different thing because:

  • Compositions and Gameplay Dynamics can be just as “limited” and one dimensional with 5 different Heroes as with 1.
  • Hero alternatives can often be just as none existant in practice with 3 options as with 1 forced, but the same Heroes can still get talented into a fairly big diversity.

But I know the (on paper) perfect solution to all the issues (too few players for separate queues, too rare mirrors for those who love it, too many for those who hate even 1 in the blue moon):
All Same triggeres as an option. 1 row of the 5 same Hero, 2 others with diverse random picks. Anyone can hopp into the fun and create a mirror match as a team (two teams), and every single individual can just choose to make it a non All Same match.
(Tho I can already see and hear the complains about this, and there are certain Heroes that are only allowed into Aram if all 10 are that Hero, so there are some obstacles with this great solution as well.)
I hope now you won’t demand the gamemode’s removal, just that you have options to avoid it (and realised there are others unlike your experience, who like it).
