Critical acclaim scoring record low these days, it seems. Anyhow, getting HotS on Steam would be nice but I don’t really see it happening as it would be compared to Dota 2 even more than it already is. And spinning the game having neither funding nor active development into selling point takes more than a fair bit of effort.
Anyone comparing it to DotA 2 is kinda being an elitist about it considering there’s many other MOBAs on Steam too, let people have more choices, not less.
Pretty much anyone I see comparing dota 2 to a lot of things end up sounding elitist because they end up mentioning mechanics that aren’t beginner friendly, and wether they intend to or not, turn their comment into more of a hidden flex.
I wasn’t comparing HotS to Dota 2 in any other than marketing sense. Just stating, MOBAs being something of a niche genre, how hard it will probably be to get new players if one product gets ample financial support and the other is abandonware with a Blizzard tag.
Some will come of course but if Blizzard truly were interested in those users, they wouldn’t have left the title to languish dead in the launcher without so much as a word for two years.
Apologies if I sounded like I’m claiming you were as I wasn’t, I’m just speaking from a broader perspective because its a very common trope to compare games from similar genres.
There’s almost no loss in sharing a title to different markets, and Blizzard is not losing anything of value dropping HotS on Steam other than expanding the community and giving me an excuse to get a bunch of HotS emoticons.
In the lawsuit FTC vs Microsoft, Activision/Blizzard the FTC has dropped their complaint against the acquisition. Only the British counterpart hasn’t decided yet to allow the acquisition, but has insinuated also to drop their complaint when Microsoft is willing to take some actions to diminish the market inequality
Well i guess Hots will be released on GOG soon
Just kidding, this is excellent news, my copium gauge is full !
Call me weird but I like the Battle.net client.
I like Steam but it is a bit of a clunker.
Both are serviceable, but battle.net always having the better resolution in beta mode and the HotS upgrade bug are comical. Appearance is everything nowadays, substance is nothing and Bzzzd can’t even get some appearance stuff right
At which part clunky.
Most of it is clunky. It works well enough for what it is but it has plenty of issues.
I also have a Steam Deck which I like a lot, which can bug out, requiring some know how to get it working again.
Also, as a developer, lets just say that Steamworks is less than user friendly.
Steam had become clunkier after the recent update. It will often completely skip pages to go all the way to whatever section was selected. Slightly annoying with Left 4 Dead 2’s workshop when I am browsing weaponry skins that catch my attention.
Same with browsing discussion pages. Have to go through post history rather than use the back button otherwise it goes back all the way to the video game’s store page as opposed to the discussion section. At least that is my experience with steam recently. Maybe Steam is just being passive/aggressive towards me for whatever reason. I did kinda trash talked Remnant 2 a bit. Definitely engaged in verbal abuse against Overwatch 2.
So OW2 is now finally available through Steam and it’s unexpectedly the most “told you so” thing in the history of things told to be so, and then some. Apparently even the DLC invasion missions aren’t working for Steam users.
Big Yikes!
Love overwatch 2 it’s a classic imo! It’s got real character, super fast and fun to play and looks great imo!
Cool fact : the voice actors recorded over 25,000 voice line for it!
Currently sitting at Overwhelmingly Negative with a 14% positive rating.
and starcraft has well over that number
plus 50
…
…
what you actually expect me to find a proper number for that game? you know how big it is?
good the lower the better
Luxurious handbags stop being so luxurious once every vendor on the street starts selling them. Seeing the negative reviews, it seems like they’ve finally lost control of the narrative as well.
It’s down to 10% now at the time of this post. They deserve all the negativity after all they did to make Overwatch into the abomination that it is now.
For comparison sake Command and Conquer 4: Tiberian Twilight is at 17%, had been unlisted by EA, and can no longer be purchased. It is that terrible of a game and is what many fans of the franchise believe, myself included, is the game that killed the legendary RTS.
Overwatch 2.lol has more than 10x the reviews and is 7% lower.
But it is all good. They got another season on the way to feel up everyones wallet.
Overwatch 2 is a critically acclaimed, team-based shooter game set in an optimistic future with an 15% of the 22,619 user reviews for this game are positive.
I don’t think that the game is bad but I’m not a hardcore zoomer shooter fan. I’m still playing boomer shooter Quake 3 Arena and having a blast.
I would play the original Overwatch now and then and thought that the formula was pretty solid for the game it was. When I paid for Overwatch 2 only to find out that I wasn’t buying the game, or even just an expansion, I asked for a refund (and got it about 2 weeks later). I have ZERO interest in buying into the seasonal pass progress bar junk. Why anyone thought this was a good business model is beyond my understanding. I also have no clue what kind of player would be stupid enough to pay for the privilege of pushing a progress bar in order to “earn” the very thing they are paying for. Someone must be paying for it though or they wouldn’t have thought this was a great idea.
