Opinion: I prefer the stability / having no updates

We have a small community here and while I won’t speak for Froggy (QueenBW) I was interested to know what classic games you played.

It’s been acknowledged that the core player demographic for most Blizzard games tends to skew older. This has probably changed a little due to the success of Diablo Immortal, but it’s never wise to assume someones age based on a few anonymous forum interactions. From many years speaking with Froggy I already was aware he played (plays) many classic games that never received updates.

There are so few regular posters here and the majority are open to friendly and civil discussion, I see little reason to do any gatekeeping around perceived age of a poster or some kind of cred associated with playing vintage or classic video games.

I totally agree, I’m very much against the subscription model that is being pushed not only with video games, but software and most mass media in general.

I’ve had this conversation with @Mumrah and a few others in the past. Many people aren’t fans of “leasing” their software and entertainment, but many times there is no alternative, other than to simply not use a product. It’s a pernicious business model that’s become quite pervasive and often impossible to opt out of.

TLDR: I love this thread and welcome any discussion around all video games and ownership/subscription models. This is so much more preferable than the usual “Hots is ded” and “Remove Blackheart’s Bay!” threads. No matter what age people are, we can all have reasonable discussions without diminishing any individuals opinion based on their (perceived) youth/age.
