Depends how you play him.

The best Murkys understand that he can be a very strong teamfighter and know how to play him as one when it matters.

TLV and Murky do have a couple of things in common, but Murky fits much better as a melee assassin than he does as a Support.

Even the weakest viking, Eric, isn’t that much squishier then, say, Tracer. Olaf and Baelog both have range assassin lvl HP. 1v1, only a few heroes can kill a damage speced Vking before they kill you, and they can pretty easily rez themselves and do it all over again.

Tracer is extremely squishy though, and Olaf/Baelog have ranged assassin HP on people with like Tychus and melee range.

Unlike Murky, they can’t really fight until very late in the game and all together where if they die they are gone for a long time.

Murky works because his death doesn’t matter at all without Egg gone, Vikings work because even if you kill one they have others.

Now that last bit doesn’t have much to do with support vs assassin, but since Murky’s assets to the team is less supporting everyone else and more being an asset himself. Vikings are almost entirely about enabling your team to fight as 4 without worrying about lanes too much.

Not if you’re good with them.

They are great team fighters in the late game, early game not so much but once they unlock Jump and pretty much ANY of the level 16 talents, they can be good team fighters.

Sometimes I forget that games exist without Li Ming when I play Vikings. Point about them being 3 low HP with 2 meh range characters and spending the majority of the game unable to fight with the team stands though.

Pssh.

Whenever I queue as murky into li ming, or pick murky against li ming (yes, I’ve done that multiple times) I get a grin on my face.

Because I know their Li Ming is thinking it’s gonna be a great game for them… And it’s not!

Granted, Vikings aren’t quite as good as dealing with Ming as Murky is.

Honestly ming ain’t an issue as long as you don’t have to teamfight, but when you do oof.
