More XP for the mvp

Since the MVP calculation is largely dependent on kills + assists - deaths (in that order) and only then followed by other statistics to a smaller degree (you can find the formula by googling~) your greater chance and incentive is to always be with your team and present for every fight/push. Both your team would have to be doing terrible and the enemy team would have to be allowing the solo push and getting stomped by the tunnel vision laner in order for them to get MVP. :upside_down_face:

Frankly i find MVP does reflect the most active player most of the time in a solo setup.
Never saw a stick to my lane all day farmer and never go to TF player get one ever actually.

You also rarely see people vote on the mvp screen after self voting was removed. Before i could see people getting 8 upvotes for dominating the other team. Now i rarely see the same hero maybe get 3 upvotes as its highest.

Having fun should be its own reward and I can imagine this being abused in parties. What could be done would be to award players at the end score screen with an insignificant amount of lets say 2-3 shards (currency) for casting a vote so they don’t instinctively race their mouse towards the exit button. Over time it would slowly add up allowing you manually unlock something while at the same time having no significant impact on the amount of free stuff the game is already giving you.

It would only encourage players to play for getting MvP, not play for winning. Those are two different things!

So, the system will give points to people who got TOP NUMBERS in the match, and take points off of people who dies. That means even tho playing good often rewards you MVP, making good decisions/smart sacrifices don’t necessarily do. So giving more XP will end up encouraging people to get MVP the easy way which can be harmful to the matches by changing the objective from Winning to MVP’ing (specially touching the toxicity problem).

So… I’m not a fan. But talk about improving the MVP system? i’m with you!

in my experience you need well rounded stats to get MVP, not just high siege damage from laning all game like a potato.

You don’t need to play well to get MVP.

Play Fenix, Ragnaros or Deathwing.

Actually, it’s exactly right. If you rarely join teamfights, kill minions, and attack high health targets without ever killing them, you will have 0 death, high siege, high hero damage and high XP. Which will get you MVP.

Plus, healers rarely MVP, does that mean all healers are worse players?

Let me fix that for you.

Mvp is a joke. 9 times out of 10 its wrong.

I can play robo gaz and get mvp every game. Juat simply by pve most of the time amd fighting a bit. Same with abby, zag or azmo. Its boring and not what i want to do.

1st, i only play gaz for the wombo… the lulz is real setting up a 5 man wipe.

honestly they should just get rid of the vote screen to prevent this. they can assign the awards without having to keep you locked into the game. the whole voting thing has been pointless since it was put in.

I agree that it should just be completely removed, and perhaps vote during the score screen.

I keep advocating to record the outcome of the match the moment the match is over. As in when the core explodes. To Blizz’s eyes, the match is over when you click the Leave game button…Only then will you get your record.

MVP is just ā€œYou did the best in terms of this and thisā€ with some others sprinkled inside. While it can mean you played well, it’s not the best this to reward. The end screen shouldn’t really give rewards at all cause someone will definitely just farm merc camps for the merc bonus.

I could ā€œmaybeā€ see a reward for the person who gets the most votes, but not for the person the computer decides is the MVP.

And that would probably require them to force people to vote, which would piss people off, which makes this whole thing just a bad idea.

Lol tired of ppl saying MVP is meaningless because that’s false and they prob never play well enough to get MVP.

If you played well you’ll prob have good stats, and if you have good stats then chances are you played well and greatly helped your team.

Ppl saying they get MVP from just afk split pushing or just brain dead mercing are either lying or exaggerating. If you aren’t contributing any kills or assists there’s no way you’ll be getting MVP, not to mention you’ll be reported into the ground.

Yeah it ain’t perfect. On the odd occasion I’ve been awarded MVP when I didn’t deserve it but that’s a rarity. To call it meaningless or random and trash is wrong

yes.
Healer players are just the worst players who cannot understand to play complex heroes like raynor.

it kinda is thou. I try to find someone to upvote in every game…
Maybe 25% of the time the MVP is the one who deserves the vote.

If it is only accurate about 25% accurate… that is generally worthless.

if you’re an Assassin.
Because your tanks and frontline died for you and your healer.

While it is not brain-dead, I think i’ve got something like a 50% MVP rate going Locust Abathur.

I do some solid work on Abathur, even with the locust build. I’m willing to put myself in harms way for objectives or luring enemies away.

But the MVP rate is hilariously high.

you’re right.
It is not meaningless, it is just practically meaningless because most of the time it seems random.

My mvp is sitting at 27.2% trust me, it means nothing.

Edit. My last game aby got it, he had half of my siege, 3/4ths my exp, 0 kills 8 assists… but he did not die. There was 3 other players that shoyld have got it before him, but his perfect kda= he got it. Hard to die when you never go past the keep gate and we never lost a fort.
