It works fine in league and definitely doesn’t create toxicity though. But maybe the playerbase in hots is just so extremely toxic that anything can drive people to be hipertoxic? Idk…

I sincerely doubted that, so I used about 10 seconds to google it and came up with a few hits where one person states that “The never surrender mentality is toxic”, as well as some other stuff like this

In addition, Riot Games will seek to better understand the context of players reported by others. For example, if a player disconnects immediately after their team refuses to surrender, Riot Games should be able to understand that this is a voluntary disconnection, especially if they have threatened to “AFK” in the chat.

It’s such a common thing in LoL to afk or ragequit if a surrender doesn’t go through, apparently, that Riot is updating their report system to combat it and their surrender system.

But it doesn’t cause toxicity, you say?

It really seems like everything that is a really good QoL addition in other mobas are just “really good tools for toxicity” in hots. Maybe the playerbase here is just that bad.

My previous statements pretty much voided this… Both games has toxic people or people inclined towards toxicity.
I don’t know if you’re under an unusual lucky star that only works in LoL since every single one of your LoL games has had unanimous surrender votes.

Well, I like pizza too. But I wouldn’t like it if somebody had used razor blades as a topping.

And personally I’ve seen very little difference before and after HGC. It seems weird to me to blame everything on HGC cancelling.

Do you guys never really have these games where the enemy is very far ahead but they are unable to end because they just don’t know? Or games where your team is very far ahead and they never right click core cause people think they can’t/they need to get camps/more keeps/more forts etc? Idk

There is a huge difference between “intentional prolonging” and “people who wasted a chance”, either because they prefer playing safe or because they didn’t know they had a chance.
