What bout bw r? It use to be a stun, now its a daze. You clearly are air born.
Then there are thinga like dianas e, which is a small knock up, would kerris pull be the same? What about her spikes. Those should be a knock up.
One of the iasues is hots is a 2d game. Thata why until they changed it, falstad flying over abby mines still took damage. Same with thinga like junka traps, you took the damage, but not the cc.
While there are many things in hots that are conditional, i dont think making a new form of cc and inserting addional codomg is the right thing to do. What about cleanse? Do we treat it like lol where the stun is gone and you can use flash to get out or do we make it instantly ground them?
No, I already established that ground-level pushes and pulls such as E.T.C.'s Facemelt, Lucioâs Q, Hammerâs knockback, (Most likely) Tychusâs grenade, are not knock-ups. Just displacements.
I am not saying I know what design is best or what I say is right. But the whole idea is that âknock-upâ means the hero is actually airborne. The characters I mentioned in my original post are ones who can specifically knock enemies off the ground.
And Illidan should be blind. Brightwing and Flastad should not be affected by the slowing sands in Alterac Pass. Ragnaros should require 25 players to kill him. Medivh should be one-shotting basically everyone in the game, etcâŚ
Fair point.
Cleanse makes you unstoppable, there is no reason to argue about that. The request is to add a new mechanic not turn the game into League of Legends.
Yasuo is one of the worst designed, toxic and unbalanced characters in the history of MOBAs. His ult is certainly a major contributing factor to his atrocious design.
So no, god forbid lets keep that stupidity out of HOTS.
In lol you use cleanse, but you still can not move unless you have a blink. So kat for example can Use cleanse them e out. Out side of bolt, only zera and tracer have blinks. Bolt is still a level 20 talent. The question still remains if you are in the air, do they telport to the ground? Or is it like in lol. I can assure you telporting too the ground is going to cuase all kinds of issues.
out side of " i think thia is cool" what does it bring to the game?
Yas, is a case study in how not to build a champ. He gets 2k+ worth in gold in crits, has a shield from just walking, how a wall that stops some things but not others( with classic lol hit boxs, in other words complete trash), and has a q that applys all on hit effects, including healing which can be nuts from rh and bt.
Currently in Hots you never leave the ground. You just visually do. Cleanse just remove the stun. They have an animation of you going back down, but you are cleansed instantly. You actually want them to leave the ground.
You can completely avoid altering the physics of the game by using a smart coding trick where you tag certain abilities that clearly knock enemies in the air with additional âairborneâ status. This will simply make knock-ups a glorified stun that allows for certain abilities to be cast during its duration.
Whether you can cleanse the target ally while the enemy is casting their conditional ability or not is up to the developers. However, you most certainly can cleanse the knock-up just like you cleanse any other stun.
What new game play would that be? The only thing i can see it beimg uaed for is like a yas ult where he needs it too ult. That really ia mot a good mechanic
Iâve played League of Legends, and I canât say that Iâm a big fan of knock-ups in that game.
It doesnât really add that much to the game in my eyes, and if we brought it over to HotS, I think it would just feel like a new mechanic added for the sake of having a new mechanic, and it would add a needless layer of complexity to the game.
Every new player would have to ask, âWhatâs the difference between being stunned and being knocked up?â and the answer would be âTheyâre basically the same, but a couple of abilities interact differently with knock-upsâ. Thatâs just bad game design, in my opinion.
Not a bad idea, I previously have an idea on a hero that instantly fores 3 arros when he is airborne for whatever reason. Only issue os that most blizzard characters dont have knockups., we might nred to resort to nexus originals which is a lot ppl dont like, I am fine with it though.
P/S: Sorry for the typos and spelling errors, fat fingers on phone.
Because currently, Yasuo is one of the very few characters that can capitalize on such mechanics. This is why more innovation on it can bring interesting outcomes if done well.
For example (might not be the best but I am sure a game developer can think of something better), we can bring a tank who has a knock-up built-in and then one of its heroics does something like clump up all airborne heroes [does not have to be from its own knock-up just any airborne hero in the radius of the heroic] in to the center of the skillshot which allows for other heroes to land their abilities in a wombo combo. It does not necessarily stun them like Mosh pit but just clumps them up while they are in the air so that they become close and susceptible to AOE damage.
This is not a broken idea because Zarya and E.T.C. have similar abilities but they do not require knock-ups and stuff like that.
Not an issue tbh. So many characters in HotS has new abilities that do not exist in their original game. I could easily see people like Doomfist, Zerg hero, or demon/male barbarian from Diablo to have knock-ups. WoW has a massive range of characters to choose from as well.
So lets juat say there is a hero that can capitalize on them. If you are the only one with a knock up, you will not be able to use your ult effectivly. Where as if you have a team built around it you can. Ever played yas in aram with out another knock up? Hots fights around objectives can be just like aram in lol. Long duration poke fights/ heavy engage then zoning. So unless you build a team around said new hero, you will be up. Lets not forget that yas ult increase the knock up duration by 1 second.
Ya I guess if Groundbreaker exist then blizzard can do similar stuffs.
I also have an idea that this new hots Yasuo have ability to make his allies knockup, that would be win win situation since he can synergize with any random ally
Yes, that is actually perfect. Not every hero should be strong in every single situation. Having drawbacks to selecting certain characters is fine, especially if they shine hard in the situations where they can.
This brings us to my original point. Cassia is a really good hero on her own, yet, put her in a team full of blinds and she will become a whole different monster with much more damage than she would normally do.
The same thing applies to Raynor with Ace in the Whole if paired with Arthas, Jaina, and maybe even Lunara.
Additionally, if a player can land a 3 man or 4 man knock-up using only their basic abilities then capitalize on it; that is a true expression of skill.
I have landed and seen people land, countless 3-man stuns with Kaelâthas and Malâganis during team fights and those are supposed to actually be knock-ups.
That is OK, it is part of the mechanic of the ultimate. Yasuoâs ultimate is a while different ability that the knock-up that came before it. Therefore, once it is cast it should function accordingly.
Cassia is not strong becuase of blinds, her trait is what makes her strong. Blinds have been in the game since techincal alpha. Do you know why they changed knock backs from a stun to a daze?
If not, please go read the patch notes for that patch.
If you do, you may understand why some of us are worried about unintended consequences. A perfect example of how changes made to make a " hero work" can make thinga like late alpha/ closed beta illidan a very scary thing. If you were not around for that, he had unstopable added to his q. He also had i framea on both hia w and q. All becuase the game could not handle him in the air.
I do not disagree, but you cannot ignore the fact that when paired with multiple heroes who can blind enemies she becomes a lot stronger than what she would normally be.
And sleeps, fears, and taunts were only in the game after its official release.
Whether I knew or not is irrelevant because people already mentioned it a few days ago in this thread, so this is technically out of topic.
So you fear new mechanics?
Because new things should not be scary, they should be innovative.
This is not a perfect example at all.
Firstly, alpha and closed beta stages of almost any game in history are floppy, contain multiple bugs, and are extremely unbalanced; this happens due to experimentation and/ inexperiences on part of the developers.
Secondly, if a hero who capitalizes on knock-ups is added, and that said hero has to channel or preform certain animations to cast the ability that benefits from and/or requires the target to be airborne, then there is absolutely no reason they must be unstoppable.
Lastly,
So you are telling me a game that is still being built and programmed cannot handle certain actions until it is finalized and ready to release?
Actually closed and open Beta were theleast buggy times that I can remember in this game. They also had the best balance. You really need to go back and read the patch notes of why they changed it from a stun to a daze, what was brought up in this thread was only half of it. Same with the illy unstoppable and i frames. More so why they were added.
I dont fear new mechaincs, i fear spaghetti code. Fear was already in the game before guldan, so was sleep before ana. You have to understand some heroes have been deaigned since alpha and have only been added recently. Sammy for example was one of the og heroes from all the techincal alpha stuff just never made it in. Hobestly up until. Tracer, and later the scaling changes this game was pretty balanced. The scaling changes were a good thing over all, but took a lot of work to get it right. After tracer the mechaincs flood gates were open.
Either you are remembering incorrectly or you did not encounter the huge bugs that existed back then. It is not the quantity of bugs but rather the magnitude of their effect on the game itself.
During alpha we had a bug where every single allied structure would turn into a healing fountain and the stupid thing is that in some games it would share the cool down globally and in some others every structure would have its own healing fountain cooldown.
Another bug back then would cause the mini-map to just go pitch black if you clicked on the dark areas outside of the map itself.
Let us not forget the bug where the tool tip for certain abilities would just not appear.
Oh, and the flying buildings after disconnecting (which return again in early 2019)
Or the bug where smart cast would simply not register and you basically ended up having to click an ability 3-4 times before it castsâŚ
Kerrigan being basically a 1 v 1 machine? (right now she is strong in 1 v 1s but at least requires skill).
Zeratul killing the core using Singularity Spike from stealth?
Kaelâthas one-shotting 5 enemy team members within 3 secs? Hello?
People who think Tracer, Genji, and Li-ming were overpowered on their release have no clue what Kaelâthas used to be like back in the days.
All of the above is extremely out of topic anyway.
And I believe that the programming team in HotS knows better than to make a poor function for their game. It seems you just hate Yasuo in League of Legends and thus you do not want knock-ups in HotS because it reminds you of him. My request is not to copy-paste League, but rather to make stuns with special animations that change the position of your character/character model on the y-plane actually special and interestingâŚ
Lol???
It does not matter. Until a character is added into the main game the mechanic is not in the game. I have no clue what this paragraph is even referring to.
Even if the developers decided to add knock-ups are their own thing, it is not like they will just read a thread on the forums and be like âhey next patch Johnny.â
Implementing a new mechanic takes weeks and months of work and preparation to get it right.
