Let’s talk about Monty the Monstrosity

People in low leagues only want to deathball, which is why split pushers get so much more value. As you go up the ranks, people figure out how to respond to that. Monstrosity stops working when someone immediately goes to stop it, and brings a stun so it can’t Deep Tunnel out.

Then i’m sorry to say, that’s on you and the Aba player, not the quality of the Hero. Maybe you’re a bad Aba teammate? I know I often have teammates who expect me to hat them 24/7. Fact is, certain Heroes most people just cannot play with or against unless they are willing to adapt and the average joe or jane does not want to think or adapt. Reworking heroes that require them to do so will just make the game worse in the long run.

The heroes I play in QM don’t need a hat to function properly or gain significant advantages.

The majority of Abathur players I see are laning 24/7 the whole match and don’t care about objectives at all.

This has nothing to do how I consider the Abathur player. It’s just how the most Abathur players tick

Are you the player who goes to Braxis or Dragon Shire and suicides into the objective all game long even when its easier to just stall and push?

His popularity is through the roof compared to how hard he is to play.

I don’t understand how it came to this.

To be honest? Many people seem to be using him as a legitimate way to afk.
His popularity should be at Medivh levels. Instead he is present in almost every single QM.

And most Abathur players are completely dead weight, with lifetime ratios of 30-40% as him.

I think it becomes a problem if more & more Abathurs simply stay in base, hat something every 3 minutes, then alt tab back to Youtube. Something has to be done about those players. They aren’t technically AFK so that report wont work.

No I’m the kind of player who tries to play QM as coordinated as SL games with preparing camps before the objective, trying to protect my team mates when playing a tank or a bruiser.
Someone who is split pushing to gain an advantage or diminishing when levels behind. You get the point

The point of Monstrosity is afk soak/lane pressure while you hat heroes fighting objective.
That and rolling up on people when it’s fully stacked because it hits like a truck.

Making it piloted is just mirroring evolution.

But Hammer is about as uninteractive as they come. Either your team can close the gap effectively to shut her down or you just end up fighting inside her range and taking a lot of damage. Sure, skill always plays a part in it but for Hammer is almost completely about what your comp is capable of.
Probius is a zoning/combo mage whereas the majority of Hammer players just want to be a turret.

Trying to demean other posters isn’t a good way to reinforce your point.
It’s not very constructive to conversation when all you provide is theories over how the state of certain heroes would be if everyone was highly intelligent and skilled.

It’s 'cause he’s not actually that hard. He has a very high skill ceiling, but the skill floor is surprisingly approachable. You can just put your hat on a frontliner and get decent value that way. Or brainmash solo push with Monstro and not get punished because no one knows what they’re doing.

I know how good you are in playing hammer and I appreciate your knowledge about her. But can we please go back to the topic?

The problem isn’t Abathurs like you. Those can carry a match. It’s those zombies using him as a way to avoid playing the game while getting exp and gold for finishing it.

I think if we rework Monstrosity to be even more approachable to these players, it will make the problem worse. A team without a good user for Ultimate Evolution is already at a disadvantage in most teamfights. We need to encourage that ult more.

In general something has to be done so he doesn’t eventually go to 99% pick rate. This isn’t a hero you want to see in every match played by every random plebeian.

This might sound like a wierd “buff” but I’d like monstro’s movement speed nerfed so he walks as slow as a minion. However, that move speed jumps back up to 100% when aba hats him.

I hate the babysit aspect of monstro. Unhatted, he powers on ahead and eats damage from minions and towers. You constantly have to hat monty but not to do anything fun or productive, but to rein him in and walk him backwards. I dislike this playstyle.

And you are wrong. You are actually so set on this fallacious thinking that has proliferatd the community about certain Heroes that when those things cease to be true you cannot adapt. You don’t have to play like that and any Hammer who does deserves to lose. Try that with me, please. I can and have obliterated entire teams on my own with her and have seen people who main other heroes that the common player doesn’t understand do the same. You saying ‘uninteractive’ tells me you really know nothing at all.

As far as ‘demeaning’ by asking a question, I really don’t see how that’s demeaning or belittling anyone. Those players exist; either they are or are not that person. Asking the question is not implying anything. Stop deflecting and making moral judgements and stick to the topic.

Well said, though I think if we somehow make Abathur harder (let’s say, he must at least move or symbiote everything every 20 seconds or he gets kicked out, none of this 3 minutes bullcrap) this will weed out the zombie Abathur players.

Or if I had any say in it, I’d make it 10 seconds, so those players would actually have to think ahead a bit and not just stand idle like a bot.

No it wont. it’ll weed out Abathurs entirely, or at least people who enjoyed his unique style. I think a lot of it is bad players in general; we have all seen crap players swear it was everyone else’s fault while being terribad and basically throwing but refusing to take any criticism or change strategy.

But you can’t even report him for staying in base as long as he just symbs something every couple minutes and spikes a minion.

Makes me want to quit the game when I see them doing that.
And they have like 1/10 the stats of other players. They are doing that on purpose.

Good Abathur players carry the game. But most Abathurs in QM are trolls and AFK’s.

The solution is not ruining Abathur for good Aba players. The solution is making the HotS playerbase learn to effing play. If everything that the average braindead can’t handle gets made worse, there will soon be nothing left but ranged assassins chucking skillshots at each other in single-lane maps.

A good Aba is always symbioting something, placing mines, moving or just doing something.

Why can’t we kick out Abas who literally sit still 20-30 seconds at spawn doing nothing? If it was any other hero people would be spamming reports at him.

He is the 2nd most popular hero in QM in this patch for crying out loud. He is labeled Very Hard. He should be as low popularity as Probius or Medivh.

Same reason you can’t just report people who fail to finish their Blight quest as KTZ.

That KTZ may still be getting exp or kills despite being under 30 stacks. He’s not just standing idle at the respawn area doing literally nothing.

When your Aba had no exp contribution, no siege, no hero damage in the last two minutes, that’s a troll. They return to briefly symbiote a minion, then they afk for another two minutes. Every other hero at the end of the match had +10k exp and he has 850 exp.

Too bad trolls have finally figured out he is the perfect hero for afking while having immunity to reports.
