Look guys. I’ve been very patient and understanding toward the Heroes of the Storm team and developers. I totally get it. The Diablo II: Resurrected and Diablo IV projects take all the man power that Activision Blizzard has right now. Even Diablo Immortal has been all hands on deck.
I love Diablo so much! Don’t get me wrong… Diablo has been a big part of my life since the 1990’s. I truly hope that Baal: The Lord of Destruction is the next hero coming to the Nexus in June for the 20-year anniversary of Diablo II: The Lord of Destruction expansion pack. Hopefully we’ll get a teaser sometime next month for that. We’re nearly two months away from the historical anniversary.
But all that being said when is the next event coming to Heroes of the Storm? Please tell me! And no more excuses. I don’t want to hear that this fine MOBA doesn’t make any money. I myself continue to pump good money into this game. I just bought $50 dollars worth of gems last night. I now have 12,655 gems saved up. I’ll probably buy $100 dollars worth of gems for my birthday in August as well.
If I can spend a lot of money on this game. Surely more of you are also doing the same. They make enough money, in my opinion, to warrant more effort on their seasonal in-game events. Now maybe they’ve been hit hard by the pandemic. I understand. I had just gotten my second vaccines last Friday. But sooner or later the excuses have to stop and the results have to show up.
We want a lot more in-game events! Even a recycled event from a past season would’ve been a lot better than nothing to me. Please Devs! Surely somebody from the Heroes of the Storm team is reading my topic. Preferably the community manager, who can then relate my concerns to the higher ups. What more can we do? What more can I do besides spending more money and being patient?
Spring items will come and Winter items will go when the Ranked Season ends (time visible ingame, around 4 weeks atm).
New event is not guaranteed, but since they delayed the Season end it’s probably because we’ll get an event. (Some are leaked.)
You should stop spending your money. The company hasn’t done well by its customers for a long time. They want your money, yet they continously fail to deliver. Stop spending until they start delivering good product. This game was put on the bookshelf to collect dust. They’re not coming back to get it. They’ll just patch it and add content once in a blue moon.
Honestly, I think devs should completely get rid of events and make all event skins available the whole year. With such low frequency of updates, all those events are just pointless.
The HotS team have nothing to do with those, and it is unlikely that Actblizz will put any “unnecessary effort” into the game even if they end up having some free workforce. Don’t use your money to “help the game”, use it if you like the benefits it brings you.
I used to spend money on stim packs to keep up with hero releases and skins. Now that content is slow i have enough gold / shards to get whatever i want.
I don’t think people realize how skeleton is the HOTS team at this point. Even Carbot made a reference to it in one of his HeroStorm episode, saying that the HOTS team consists of one pair of legs. The irony is I’m sure, 100% convinced that the individual (maybe plural? we’re not even sure there’s more than 1 single person in the HOTS team at this point) working on the game is absolutely passionate about it, but he or she (or they?) need reinforcement.
The problem is that HOTS is a “failed” product in the eyes of Blizzard (or rather, Activision). They stopped HOTS eSports and proceeded to starve this product. Now the actual dev team is a skeleton screw and that’s because Activision does not see this game as financially viable as ‘the others’ (of course, mainly Overwatch and WoW). I think that StarCraft 2 as well is starting to fall into the “Meh, we don’t care anymore” train.
So it’s not just the lack of Seasonal / Special Events. It’s the lack of everything really. We don’t get new maps, or reworks of maps (where is Haunted Mines? How long ago did they talk about reworking it again? I can’t even remember), but the game modes are stagnant as well and obviously new Heroes releases will probably get even worse than it already is over time (“worse” in terms of release frequency). I mean, we don’t even have some basic Announcers in this game, of characters that are icons of the very company itself, like Sarah Kerrigan (who actually made it as an Announcer in SC2… go figure).
Sadly, HOTS’ future only depends on how much Activision is merely willing to let it survive as it does right now. If they REALLY wanted to, they COULD pull the plug on this whole game without a moment of hesitation. It’s like they just let it breath because ‘whatever’. It’s a very sad situation. Because, in my opinion, Heroes of the Storm is the 2nd best game under the name “Blizzard” (right after Diablo 2, for me anyway).
I had used Shards/Golds slowly without Boosts even I had to keep Lootboxes last year had no Winter event at all.
Spring event still unknown but had to recovered with Overwatch cosplay pack which seen during BlizzConline.
Winter event in later this year have possible using TNC-Themed (based from Overwatch) called Winter Wonderland with some of outside OW heroes joined this celebration with contents from Overwatch reference.
The only people probably spending are the smurfs to get new toons.
If they recycled the old gem mounts I’d probably spend the money to get them.
I do mostly enjoy this game and would love to help them out but hard to justify it for the limited content/care.
All of this is a good point. At least on the forums the only communication we get is when someone resigns, or the Autobot posting Patch Notes.
It was a smart idea giving out those mounts with any gem purchase. If they actually want to make money, a little care like that gives many the incentive to put down some money.
Who would spend money on a failed business model? I would like to spend money on my favorite game, but this game has no incentives to spend money, everything can be obtained by playing the game. The only way to support my favorite game currently is by supporting the company’s other franchises like HS or WoW.
For me it’s the best and I would stop to support HS, if they would shutdown this game. I pay for HS-preorders, because there is no really other useful choices to invest in this game. I don’t want boosters.
Just my lukewarm take, I think the business model they had in mind, was players buying boosts. Not everyone plays all that often, so boosts would be an option for them to get the cosmetics/gold etc., that they wanted. Not all of us are veteran players here at or before launch.
I once saw many established accounts running boosts, but as new content has become so slow, I don’t think there is the demand or confidence for people to buy boosts.
