Guy Montag, because we need more fire.
Q skill: smokes the ennemy heroes out with very thick and potent marij**na fumes that blind them and slow them. At some high level talent, can even put them out to sleep.
Taunt ult: by calling an ennemy hero “My brother” with his slow, constant and pissing tone, leads that hero to attack him.
It’s called Terrazine and it’s a gateway drug.
Thanks for the “secret” info… and so much for the joke.
Matt Horner, a specialized mage that brings support utility and long range poke to the team, with a variety of striker fighter bomber formations, support air drops for allies and his fleet admiral status, as he dominates the nexus!
Rory Swann, a mechanical engineer with a pension for his perdition turrets, Rory Swann comes with a specialized marauder powersuit and a case of his finest mixed tool bag of CC, sustained damage and area control as a ranged bruiser.
Tosh, a spooky specter with a knack for voodoo and psionic disruption, comes into the nexus as a stealthed ranged assassin as a specter. Using mind blast and void armor, he makes any fight a…yea Idk what tosh would do without being a ghost clone or overshadowing valeera by being ranged. Which is unfortunate because tosh was cool.
Mensk…tf would mensk do. His entire lore is basically conscripting and throwing bodies at a problem, like, literally all macro no tactics, his coop revolves abusing civilians and empowering royal guards and a battlecruiser hero as some people suggested seems cliche as we already have deathwing, or if its scaled down (which would be a travesty because battlecruisers are awesome and should be full size) then we’d have another hammer situation in which he just looks laughably puny. Plus, why would you have mensk in a battlecruiser instead of Matt???
Maybe, but we can’t give Ulrezaj every psionic ability in existence, so why not give him the abilities Tosh doesn’t have?
Meanwhile, we can give Tosh the abilities he gets from technology and weaponry that Ulrezaj doesn’t have?
Also, Tosh has psionic Voodoo. Ulrezaj doesn’t.
Nothing about Ulrezaj would ever entirely preclude Tosh.
Leave it to the troll icon to like the voodoo man.
Tosh has more personality than most these OC heroes they jammed in for unit representation.
Plus Spectre’s are cool and dev team seemed to have had a crush on them from all the spectre skins in the game (Nova, Illidan, Tracer) and some tints that mirror them too (ETC, Zarya, D.va, KT) as well as some mounts.
Tosh could be a meatier stealth-type that just uses the ability to engage/escape instead of wholly relying on it for survivability, which I never thought was healthy take a look at how people treated old stealth. We’ve seen it work well on Samuro, too well even, and to good effect on Valeera, but it could be interesting on a ranged hero.
And there’s so many ways you can spin psionic voodoo powers to give him unique abilities and traits.
Dota has had good success with heroes like Lycan, Enchantress, Chen, and more on the fringe, Meepo.
We have very few summoners in game, and a lot of minions are laughable even when properly talented.
We have Abathur but locust build is more about cheesing down lanes than fighting people. Mengsk could be the hero that summons minions meant for PvP.
My Dominion, right or wrong.
That’s what I’m saying, I just wanna see Mengsk throw troopers at the enemy that make pew pew pew noises, and we NEED a Terran summoner and he’s perfect for that role. Also I love the cheeky trooper quote.
Go ahead.
Explain what makes him important/unique/cool.
Important?
Storyline, he’s not important.
Less important than Dehaka even.
Unique?
In game all I remember seeing from Spectres in general was altered Maelstrom, and altered Snipe.
Tosh specifically? Altered Malestrom, altered Consume, a shield.
There’s nothing here that stands out.
They could make something up, but they’d be designing to make him unique, not because he is.
His silhouette is similar enough to Nova’s because Spectres are just alternate Ghosts.
Cool?
All I see is voodoo themed Ghost.
It could be kind of cool I guess, but so could a Viking pilot hero or the techno-zerg madman.
I’m not saying he couldn’t be a decent hero, I just don’t see it happening, and I don’t see the priority.
Could, but their instability caused by Terrazine use might have been an influence in making Spectres out as more fragile glass cannon Ghosts in campaign.
He did have a shield though, so it could happen.
I had a different impression, non-gameplay wise. Their models are a lot stockier (their prisoner models are ripped, pretty much a repurposed Tychus model) and their guns aren’t as snipery.
Plus having an AoE stun screams frontliner to me.
That’s as cool as it gets.
If you don’t understand Tosh’s significance in lore, don’t pretend he has none. Your ignorance does not define reality.
Tosh wasn’t a main character, but he absolutely was a major side-character because he had so much influence on Nova’s character development.
Tosh was Nova’s squad leader when they were at the Ghost Academy. He’s also her former boyfriend.
He went AWOL and faked his own death when he realized how the dominion was manipulating its Ghosts with memory wipes to cover up the horrible things it was having them do. This occurred right after a training mission gone-wrong in which Nova’s squad rescued some of her childhood Old Family friends from a Zerg attack, only for Mengsk to have them “disappeared” for being political liabilities.
He was one of the recruits for the illegally revived Project Shadowblade, and attempted (and very nearly succeeded) to kill Mengsk at the height of his power. He then went on to try to recruit Nova, exposing her to Terrazine. The events of Nova: Ghost: Spectre are the literally the reason Nova had any clue what Terrazine was and what it did when she ran into Alarak in Covert Ops.
She eventually began turning down the memory wipes (once they became optional) and went AWOL herself when she realized she needed to stop running from her past, like Tosh and been trying to help her realize all along.
Tosh was also a fairly important side-character to Raynor in WoL. He actually warned Raynor about Tychus, and because Raynor canonically chose to side with Tosh and break his Spectre buddies out of New Folsom, Nova arrested him at the beginning of Heart of the Swarm, kicking off Kerrigan’s renewed rampage against the Dominion.
Those are not the only abilities Spectres have at their disposal, canonically, nor would a Spectre hero in HotS need to be limited to some version of those.
Tosh could have a silencing skillshot, Hallucinations, a shield that depletes his mana instead of its own health when damaged, etc, etc. We have a lot of room to work with here.
You realize this applies to probably a good quarter of the heroes in the game, right?
Heroes aren’t ported over 1-for-1 because there’d be too much overlap and they wouldn’t be interesting.
I see no reason this would be an issue for Tosh if it wasn’t one for Murky, Tyrande, etc.
Tosh’s voice actor is awesome, Spectres are awesome, and Tosh himself is a total bad- in a way fundamentally different than Ghosts like Nova.
If you don’t think Tosh is cool, then, my dude, you just have bad taste.
I only remember two things.
- The mission where you control pretty much only him, which was cool enough.
- Him screwing up his voodoo and trying to torture Raynor comically unsuccessfully before being murdered.
If he had importance in books or something, I guess I missed it.
Fine, fair enough.
Maybe it’s just frustration that they’re just releasing like one hero a year.
No I don’t.
I just don’t have your tastes I guess.
