I think the reason HOTS failed is lack of immersion

That’s weird. Because one thing I do know about DotA (and LoL) is that players are always complaining about their team mates.

But why do you play HotS if it bothers you so much that ranged heroes should have more range?

For the same reason shotguns have less range than semi autos, despite being bigger. They’re scatter guns and just have less range in exchange for more close range power. And they’re better for crowd control.

But honestly, if something like D.Va’s mech not shooting as far as her pilot mode pistol bothers you. How can you stand any mechanics in any game? Pretty much none of them make logical sense.
I mean even if I go as far as Mario bros. Touching armless sentient mushrooms kills you, but jumping on them kills them. And eating a mushroom grows you to 3 times your size in less than a second. Wtf?

Actually, the majority of players of most games are perfectly immersed. You are part of a very small minority that sees an issue with these things. You are actually the first person to ever have a problem with this on the forum.

(But the bottom line is that HotS cannot have failed because of this, since most of those things were not always in the game. )
