Basically Wrathion freed Garrosh with the help of some rascal Bronze Dragons to create a big and strong army against the Burning Legion, but Garrosh chose otherwise, WoD (Warlords of Draenor) happened, which lead to AT (Alternate Timeline) Gul’dan to come to MainTimeline Azeroth and killed Varian.

Neltharion (Aspect of Earth) was really close to Old God influence and couldn’t withstand it for eternity.
So they made him mad, and created Deathwing from him, so basically the Old Gods killed his father.

Was neltharion good before becoming deathwing? Also , i know it has “gods” in their names but how strong were/are those gods ? I mean neltharion was a pretty big dragon , im guessing just some regular mind control wouldnt cut it.

Dunno, I read and watch/listen to its lore, cuz I’m not a fan of MMOs.
Tho ai did play the Worgen and Death Knight starters and planning to do the same with Demon Hunters.

Several weeks, as much of the lore isn’t in game (which irks me), but are in the books and stuff associated with the game. Warcraft/WoW is notorious for retconning lore as well, so be prepared for a ton of contradictions. Warlords of Draenor made it even more problematic as there ended up being two different time lines, with different characters, as well as some characters who were good in Warcraft being the bad guys in that expansion (at least for a little while).

There are two books that “summarize” WoW lore with lots of pictures and maps: World of Warcraft Chronicle: Volumes 1 and 2. Although some of the information in the book contradicts what was in the older games (no surprise), they are entertaining and give a good overview of the lore. I would start there if you are interested.

Given the sheer number of expansions, and the fact that the franchise is well over 20 years old, playing through everything would be a bit daunting!
