varian is a meta pick atm
he is not a troll pick
also roll with a morales and she will fix all the things u complain about
If I remember correctly it was as high as 40-50% but when Varian was released he would get slapped with an attack speed penalty if Taunt was taken.
maybe when you play him use parry to block attacks and pick shield wall at 10
