Isn’t this just another, “I want completely fair matches in QM in a dwindling playerbase, and it had better give me a match in under 30 seconds, give me meta teammates that know exactly how to play the game in a mode that is open to new players/accounts, or I’ll ruin the game by inting, feeding, trolling, afking, and cursing people out in chat. Oh and don’t you DARE mention that QM doesn’t use MMR! I am ignoring this crucial piece of data.” thread?
Why? Is the system somehow different in South America?
Cause whatever you’re experiencing there, the rest of the world is also experiencing, and you can bet your shoes (don’t know why one would bet their shoes) on that.
SA/SEA/ANZ, those servers were already small when Hots was in active development, now they are so underpopulated that on most of these servers, you can’t even find ARAM games, where it’s 5 human players, vs 5 human players, it will usually add AI to both teams.
Gaurda might be exaggerating the problems slightly, but only by a little bit. I’ve played with friends on ANZ, and it is much worse than NA, you will be frequently matched with the same players game after consecutive game.
When SL was launched and Hots was not yet retired, they had to remove the rule that prevented rainbow lobbies in Ranked from ANZ and other small servers, as most ranks could not find a match, this change is outlined in old patch notes somewhere. It’s not uncommon on those servers that in SL Master players will be matched with Bronze (this can’t yet happen on US/EU unless you wait over an hour in queue), so they have a point.
If you want to know exactly how bad those servers are, ask Hasher or WhyDaRunGone, I think both of them have moved over to the US server, despite the often unfavorable latency.
That might help, but since they allowed players to group 2 ranks apart in Ranked games, I’ve encountered many people who dismiss the person banning as being “trash”, even if their own rank (not division, rank) is gold and the person banning is Diamond.
I’m mostly happy with the state of Hots. I’m often impressed by the fact that a game long since put on the shelf, has such a dedicated fanbase. What I won’t do is pretend that old adage of “If you rank up you will play with people of your own skill”, as that’s no longer true for SL due to it allowing people to group 2 ranks apart, and MMR averaging for QM is just another variation of this.
I’m not exaggerating, that’s why I’m asking the paladins here to go there and learn it by themselves, somehow they believe all other servers playerbase are like the US.
Interesting thing is, in the beginning all matchs were fair, playing with people on same skill level. Since Blizzard introduced MMR and made changes to MM, things started to go bad day after day, not to mention the buddy system, it’s complete awful and unfair.
I had friends tell me horror stories about the ANZ server, and I’ll admit I thought they were exaggerating slightly until I hopped over to see for myself. From all accounts, the EU server is the most healthy, as it has a much larger player base than the US.
Again, I hope things will improve for you, and you’re right, players should go and check out for themselves, how a tiny player base can impact the match quality and MM on small servers.
Well, yes it is, Hots is probably the only game in the world that penalizes you for your high winrate and rewards loser ruiners for low, and I have a lot of gaming experience in my life.
In other words - it’s broken or it’s a unique representation of some unsustainable game model.
Who cares, smart people realized all this at the start, when gaming media wrote that Hots lost 50% of its online presence because players didn’t like it.
The stupid ones here are us - who continued to play it lol.
And it was just an experiment, elements of which were made literally hastily on the back of their hands, and unofficially shut down just 2 years after release.
That’s all it was
It doesn’t really matter the extent of what you think, the matter at hand is that you’ve demonstrated that you do invent falsehoods as a consequence of unwanted experiences.
Yea, people can throw in this game, and it’s based on the cooperation of people for games to have ‘good’ matchmaking. That’s part of why most pvp games are rife with complaints of ‘unfair’ and ‘rigged’ matches that plague low mmr ranges and lowpopulation servers. One can “literally” look up Dota, LoL, smite, or whatever, and find, verbatim, much of the same posts in the same context across the world.
Yea, I get games where people throw, quit, feed, and actually convince themselves that they’ve better off for having done it. The capacity for people to choose to remain ignorant, unskilled, angry, or whatever are all entirely outside the metrics of what matchmakers do. Despite how many years go by and how many games get made, the loop of complaints fixate on blaming a ‘boogie man’ and pretend that nobody else experiences what you can despite the overwhelming evidence of how easily accessibly such encounters pervade worldround.
That’s part of why ‘forums’ for many games end up dying in favor of other community outlets that just organize their own games and further reduce the pool of ‘good’ players.
This isn’t new, unique, or novel things exclusive to one region, one game, or even one company. That’s part of why the feedback doesn’t deny you had bad games, but they don’t agree with your choice of actions because of them.
Mate I’m talking about facts, sharing numbers and data. You’re the only one here sharing your opinion over a technical issue, doesn’t matter what you think or believe.
You want to understand the issue play S.A server, I have over 12.000 games played there over the years, how many you have? If the answer is 0, you can’t even debate with me on this issue.
Garuda (like many of us) is no doubt exaggerating about some of the issues encountered on small servers and how that impacts matchmaking, but these small servers are very different beasts from the EU/US.
On the ANZ/SEA servers, players can’t find ARAM games without being placed with and against AI, and even that can take 10 minutes to find one other human player to match against the other human player. ARAM games pop almost instantly for me on the US, at almost any time of day.
Before Hots was put in maintenance, before the HGC was canceled, MM rules that prevented mixed rank rainbow lobbies for Storm League (might have still been Hero League) on the ANZ/SEA were lifted, because most players couldn’t find a match. That is in patch notes somewhere, so it’s not speculation, I remember the discussions about this on the old forums.
Many players, from ANZ, have said the only mode you can find games in is QM. I think it was @WhereTheRumGone who recently stated that in order to get ranked matches, they scour their friends list and LFG channels just to find games in SL, as otherwise, the mode is dead. Many of these players have also stated they play on the US or EU servers and suffer the latency, as at least they can find matches faster, with a bonus of an improvement in match quality.
Most players from these small servers have all had similar complaints, and yes, there will be exaggerations, but small servers have to make more compromises in MM, so they can function at all.
I don’t agree for a second that MM is “rigged”, even on small servers, I think it’s more a perception issue that comes with a very small player pool. Players will tend to notice the negatives more, as they are likely to occur more often than on more active servers such as the EU or US, simply due to the low player population. If there is an active troll, you’re more likely to be matched with them again, than you would on healthy regions.
Hopefully, it goes without saying that I respect and accept your points, but I do have sympathy for those playing on these almost dead servers, as players on these servers face challenges that are yet to impact the two larger servers, at least to such a significant degree.
Latency is above 200, it’s impossible to play. There’s a lot of good players here, but sadly the majority quit the game already.
What should be good news it’s actually not. There’s a lot of new players, but the matchmaking is ruining everything. By playing unfair matchs both vets and noobs will quit eventually.
Then the OP is being dramatic and crying that the game is continuing the downward spiral to it’s death.
The thing is that the OP points to all sorts of other issues but the one that is causing said issues. The population is low.
I know, it just takes the cake IMO for crackpot MM conspiracy theories, which is impressive considering all that I’ve read here and on the old forums over the years.
50% may be kept by selecting teams of different strengths, doing it in turn. First , yе have strong players, and after enemies have ones, and ye are given garbage.
