Abilities

Bestow Hope [Trait]

Cooldown: 1.5 seconds
Passive: 60% of the damage Auriel deals to Heroes and 20% dealt to non-Heroes is stored as energy.
Bestow an allied Hero with Hope. While they remain near Auriel, 30% of their damage to Heroes and 10% of their damage to non-Heroes is converted to energy. Auriel can only have Bestow Hope on 1 ally at a time.

Auriel can store up to 475 energy. Auriel will regenerate back 15% of her maximum Energy over 6 seconds, if she hasn’t taken any damage within 5 seconds.

Sacred Sweep [Q]
Cooldown: 8 seconds
Sweep the area with sacred power, dealing 40 damage to enemies and an additional 160 damage to enemies caught in the center.

NEW: Cast speed increased by 20%

Ray of Heaven [W]
Cooldown: 4 seconds
Consume Auriel’s stored energy and heal allied Heroes in the area for the amount of energy consumed.

Detainment Strike [E]
Cooldown: 12 seconds
Deal 55 damage to the first enemy Hero hit and knock them back. If they collide with terrain, they are also Stunned for 1.25 seconds and take an additional 165 damage.

Crystal Aegis [R]
Cooldown: 70 seconds
Place an allied Hero in Stasis for 1.75 seconds. Upon expiration, Crystal Aegis deals 275 damage to all nearby enemies and grants the target Hero 20 Armor for 5 seconds.

Resurrect [R]
Cooldown: 60 seconds
After 0.75 seconds, Auriel will channel to a dead ally to resurrect them back to life with 30% of their maximum Health, canceling the channel resurrects them. Resurrect’s next cooldown is increased by 10 seconds and increases the maximum Health by 10% an ally has for every 1 second it is channeled.
Auriel can use this ability while dead to resurrect herself, but she only regains 40% of her maximum Health.


Talents

Tier 1

Increasing Clarity
Enemies hit by the outer area of Sacred Sweep are pushed slightly toward the center.
❢ Quest: Every time Sacred Sweep hits a Hero in the center, increase the center damage by 0.5%, up to 15%
❢ Reward: After hitting 30 Heroes, this center damage bonus is increased by an additional 15% and reduce Sacred Sweep cooldown by 1 second.

Righteous Assault
Reduces the cooldown of Sacred Sweep by 2 seconds for each enemy Hero hit by its center and increase its cast speed by 10% (Prev: 20%).

Heaven’s Light
Each enemy Heroes hit by the center of Sacred Sweep reduces the energy cost of the next Ray of Heaven by 8%, up to 40%.

Tier 2

Majestic Span
Increases the radius of Sacred Sweep by 15%.

Heavy Burden
Passive: Detainment Strike slows enemy Heroes by 25% for 2.5 seconds, double the amount of slow and duration to enemy Heroes stunned.
Sacred Sweep also slows enemy Heroes hit by 25% for 2.5 seconds.

Repeated Offense
Passive: Enemies hit by Detainment Strike are knocked back 25% farther.
❢ Quest: Every time Detainment Strike Stuns a Hero, increase the Stun damage by 10, up to 60.

❢ Reward: After stunning 6 Heroes, increase this damage bonus to 250.

Tier 3

Burst of Light
Hitting an enemy Hero with the center of Sacred Sweep reduces Ray of Heaven cooldown by up to 1 second.

Energized Cord
Increases the energy stored from Auriel’s Basic Attacks to 100% of the damage against Heroes and 55% of the damage against non-Heroes.
Passive: While Bestow Hope is active, Auriel passively heals for 26 per second.

Empathic Link
Auriel stores 30% of damage taken by allies with Bestow Hope.

Tier 4 (Heroics)

Crystal Aegis [R]
Cooldown: 70 seconds
Place an allied Hero in Stasis for 1.75 seconds. Upon expiration, Crystal Aegis deals 275 damage to all nearby enemies and grants the target Hero 15 Armor for 5 seconds.

Resurrect [R]
Cooldown: 60 seconds
After 0.75 seconds, Auriel will channel to a dead ally to resurrect them back to life with 30% of their maximum Health, canceling the channel resurrects them. Blinding Flash
Enemies hit by the center area of Sacred Sweep are blinded for 2 seconds.

Piercing Lash
Detainment Strike now pierces and hits all enemy Heroes in a line, reducing the cooldown by 2 seconds for each Hero hit.

Glimmer of Hope
Ray of Heaven grants Shields equal to 20% of its current amount it heals to allies below 40% health for 2.25 seconds.

Angelic Flight
Cooldown: 40 seconds
Active: After 2 seconds, fly to a target location.

Tier 6

Reservoir of Hope
Ray of Heaven also deals damage to enemies in the area equal to 30% of the energy consumed.
❢ Quest: Each maximum energy Ray of Heaven Auriel casts increases the maximum amount of energy that can be stored by 75.

Light of the High Heavens
Bestow Hope grants targets 10% Spell Power and 10% Attack Speed.

Heaven’s Wrath
Enemy Heroes hit by the center of Sacred Sweep have their damage reduced by 25% for 2.5 seconds.

Tier 7

Lightspeed
Resurrected allies gain 200% increased Movement Speed, decaying over 4 seconds. Resurrect’s cooldown increase is reduced by 5 seconds and if a resurrected ally remains alive, Resurrect’s cooldown recharges 50% faster.

Diamond Resolve
When Crystal Aegis expires, it grants the target 55 Armor for 5 seconds and to allies in the explosion radius by 15 Armor for 5 seconds.

Shield of Hope
Cooldown: 60 seconds
Active: Activate to grant all nearby allied Heroes a Shield for 3 seconds equal to 50% of the amount of Health they are missing.

Mending Light
Ray of Heaven heals an additional 10% of the amount healed over 3 seconds, this healing amount is increased by 2% to Heroes for every 3% of their health missing.


Core Discussion

I made a rework concept for Auriel to address issues that plagues Auriel for a long time, such as the lack of out of combat healing, talents that were often unneeded such as Swift Sweep, which can be overcome with proper positioning.

She lacked out of combat healing which made her susceptible to drawn out fights and extreme poke damages, which are her weaknesses but too much of a weakness.

She also had to commit to fights close range, without any proper way of mitigating damage or protecting herself and her Q talents could use some flare when it comes to usability.

Most often, you’d take Righteous Assault or Searing Light, just so that Auriel can give out more utility or damage and extra energy from said damage, to heal allies.

Her ultimates are also problematic for being really too similar, with Crystal Aegis, people waiting out the stasis making the protected target an easy picking if properly done, while Resurrect is as equally punished while relying on already winning the game.

Resurrect is also problematic when it comes to balancing, and I think I have a proper idea to at least make it less problematic and rewarding, and to be countered if done poorly. It can also stop Cho’Gall cheese comps in QM.


Talents discussion

Increasing Clarity has been buffed a few times by increasing its damage, but since it doesn’t scale, it doesn’t really matter much and that Auriel has to stand still, can make her easy in the open, by giving it a scaling damage increase and a small cooldown reduction, Auriel can benefit more from being aggressive.

Righteous Assault hasn’t been changed other than giving what Swift Sweep provided, it’s more for utility.

Heaven’s Light is a talent meant for rewarding Auriels who uses their Sacred Sweep to reduce the energy cost of their Ray of Heaven, allowing for later talents to shine.


Nothing much has changed around the level 4, considering all of them are useful other than a little bit for Heavy Burden, I gave some functionality to Sacred Sweep to give it some more usability outside of slowing E.


I doubt Auriel is the type of Healer to get a cleanse in the game, considering for what she does.

Burst of Light has been given back, but with a condition of rewarding Auriels who utilizes her Sacred Sweep efficiently.

While Energized Cord, can reward Auriel, it is a bit underwhelming when it comes to performance, often you already get energy before you could even restore it back with your damage, the extra healing should allow Auriel to at least help herself when being poked.

Empathic Link just gets a small 5% buff.


At level 13

I removed Converging Force and merged it with Increasing Clarity, so that it provides other things than just damage, considering it needs one.

Other than that, the two talents Blinding Flash and Piercing Lash are still the same.

Glimmer of Hope got changed, considering Heaven’s Light at level 1 reduces energy cost. It’s more exactly in tuned with the name of having a glimmer of hope, by shielding allies in their dire times.

Angelic Flight got moved to level 13, so that Auriel can have it more freely than having to choose it in her level 20, which is already too late to pick at all.

In this tier, it’s all about utility, damage mitigation or mobility.


I merged Will of Heaven and Wrath of Heaven into one, considering you’ll pick either for the proper hypercarry, it’s nerfed in terms of attack speed but it should still be usable under a new name.

While Reservoir of Hope has Searing Light merged into it, considering you’ll take Reservoir of Hope either way and it seems more fitting to be a level 16 talent.

Heaven’s Wrath is to help out Auriel stay in the fight, by reducing enemy Hero damage, it’s only at 25% because of her earlier talents, that’ll help her more consistently or to provide more utility in general.


The ultimate upgrades have remained relatively the same except for Diamond Resolve, which now grants Armors to allies in the explosion as well, which should at least help it be more consistent.

Mending Light is to help out Auriel deal with sustained damage, giving up the ultimate upgrades or a burst mitigation on demand.
