Should I dust Jaraxxus, Eredar Lord of the Burning Legion? I don’t think he’ll be good as long as the sacrificial pact interaction exists from Zephrys
Im not going to dust him because he is classic and so will be good after the meanie genie is gone, but yes he will probably never see play as long as highlander is a thing and i dont see it going anywhere since it was already good and just got DQ Alex
Does Zephrys offer Sacrifical Pact when Jaraxxus is in play?
I asked myself that back when bloodreaver gul’dan was released.
Unless they buff Jaraxxus he most likely isn’t gonna see play again the drawbacks of playing him are to big.
You limit your health you impact the board in very little way the moment you play him (the 3 damage weapon does help but you only have 15 hp so you can very easily die next turn if you swing on a minion) and the 9 mana cost you can do very little combined The moment you play Jarraxxus
Only part that remains good is the hero power which gives you a 6-6 as long as you can get alot of use out of it it is golden but since you only have 15 hp and are always close to dying you really can’t guarantee that.
My experience atleast.
Every time, every single time, it was highlight reel foder when he fisrt got released.
Jaraxxus is a very cool card. You could even call him the OG hero card, before Death Knights were a twinkle in Ben Brode’s eye.
The problem is he costs your entire turn and all you really have to show for it is 15 health and a 3 attack weapon. Back in the days of pre-nerf Molten Giants, you could purposely let your life total dip very low and then play free Molten Giants, taunt them up with Sunfury Protector and then comfortably cast Jaraxxus without worrying about instantly dying.
Those days feel like they’re long gone. The power level of cards is pretty high compared to the vanilla set. I wonder if they couldn’t give him a bit of a buff, maybe dropping him to 8 mana so you could at least squeeze in a hero power on 10. Even with that, until Zephyrs is gone he’s probably unlikely to see play and with the new Alexstrasza, Zephyrs will see a lot of play.
I will never dust any classic cards. (Even Millhouse is staying in my collection !)
After Gul’dan rotated out, i used to put Jaraxxus in my warlock’s deck for fun. It was hard to find a good window to play it, but it can definetly turn the tide of a game. Every time i did manage to play it, i could almost see my opponent scratch thier head, often emoting “wow”.
Power of the cards is improved a lot. Thus playing 9 mana - do nothing and probably drop your health to 15 is horrible idea. Might work against some control heavy decks to try to overwhelm them with hero power but against anything else its like asking to get destroyed next turn.
Not to mention zephrys offers a OTK for 0 mana…
Maybe in control heavy meta or slow enough meta with no spike dmg. So probably never again.
Still…I would rather dust my golden Tirion instead of this demonic gentleman.
