yes, I do aim for a balance. I utilize community knowledge pools whenever they are available, and when those options arent applicable or unavailable then I will resort to the google it approach. But I prefer to engage in knowledge seeking in a communal way, such as we learned to in school. Raising a hand to ask the teacher a question wasnt just a benefit to the one who asked that question, all within earshot of it could learn from the exchange as well. So I continue that practice to this day, you may think it unnecessary but I find it invigorating to be able to connect my consciousness of grey matter between my ears to another person’s consciousness of grey matter between their ears. That spooky action at a distance of the two grey matters exchanging information across the distance, however small or large, is a wonderous thing. Something I dont get to enjoy by simply using google to find whatever AI compilation has in store for whatever I may query. I used to be able to rely on adding reddit to the end of any google search to be sure I would find something written by humans, but that isnt reliable anymore seeing how sites will add Reddit to their page titles so that they appear in relevant searches even before the actual reddit results get listed.
So yeah, you call it spoonfed, I call it organic learning. If no one here can answer what I ask or no one replies in a reasonable time frame, then sure, google it will happen. But its almost never my go to for a first option on stuff of this nature. Recreational gaming trivial knowledge.
