Why it takes so long to nerf BSM?

But it’s shown next to the Double D Defective Demon hunter pirate build?! Now I’m even more perplexed! What’s next, is a core classic rogue deck gonna have <50% winrate?! How is a deck that’s trying to kill itself, with no presvervatives to speak of outside of popgar stronger than flood paladin, the bugger doesn’t even have defile in it! If it was the insanity build I’d understand but this- this is hurting my brain

The deck runs on Mountain Dew™.

The real answer. It’s not egregious enough for an emergency patch. With that in mind they will not patch a new set release until they have at minimum two weeks or more of data to look at. Does that answer your question?

maybe revert tsunami buff

one less elemental should make a difference

That is almost certainly not what they will do. They e generally avoided deck killing changes, and that would certainly kill the archetype entirely when it just needs to be slightly slowed down.

Why would they nerf a low skill mana cheat highroll deck? Marin druid has been in the game forever now and only with a few peripheral nerfs.

Turn 5 tsunami is about a turn quicker than you could do it before the patch (you could do surf into watercolor turn 5/6 before this miniset) the only difference is the replayability (with conman) and an extra shot with skyla to hit the turn 5 play more consistently. If anything you’d want to nerf the replayability (sorry rogues) as opposed to what has always been an relatively consistent option in turn 5 tsunami.

At anyrate you nerf that an theres about 4 or 5 other mana cheat decks that will come in and fill the void. Nerf em all or leave the low skill mage one alone.

The real problem might be that the CONTROL decks are bad against it; e.g. the traditional slow warrior can’t handle it; the reason appears to be that the default mage is played mostly “from hand” while it’s also very fast VS the warrior so it’s uncontrollable if it does its thing very early.

But the fast decks don’t care that much; they have more robust combinations of cards and they usually get the upper hand on the mage even if they have a slightly slow average game time; combined with the control decks being bad against it: it results in a very fast meta.

Maybe they have to redesign some control decks; people like VS’ ZachO and many others are starved of good slow decks anyway; and I’m bored of control warriors taking 20 minutes to make my paladins lose anyway (deled them warriors k thx bye).

Well, the funny thing is that control decks were actually doing pretty well against it. BSM caused a resurgence of blood DK, for example.

The problem is that the orb varieties aren’t weak to the control decks because orb will finish the job.

That just leaves aggro, specifically pirate DH, which is effective against both versions.

They are collecting data, thats why probably… like always…

That’s what VS was saying (right?) but I don’t see those DKs playing much in the stats; maybe they just weren’t good at all against most other decks so they can’t be played anyway; maybe VS were wrong (again).

The warriors being VERY bad against them pretty much confirms without a doubt that “traditional” control can’t handle them at all; at least control of the board type; maybe “Priest”-type control is needed.

BTW orb is now an archetype of hsguru and it seems worse than BSM; it’s not clear what’s going on with matchups because it depends on filtering of ranks and days; similar matchup stats anyway.

Think the fact it looks worse is that it’s worse in the mirror, which bumped up the stars of the old mage lists that were being driven to tier 3.

Mage is feeding on mage which is feeding in everything else.

Well, I don’t use data like others do in predicting reasonable nerfs.
Instead I use history.
If history is any indicator? They will kill the deck.

I’d just farm them both right now since their matchups are similar anyway; that means usually going to another fast deck; the simple demon hunters or even other fast decks people forget exist.

I personally just stopped playing this month entirely and do achievements. It’s either dull playing the same 5-round deck or I find the pirate demon hunter obnoxious since its too mulligan sensitive.

History is just another type data, but I get your point. :slightly_smiling_face:

I just meant that I don’t use mathematics to calculate what would be reasonable. I don’t believe reason exists within Team 5 anymore.

When was Blizzard in general a company of mathematics and reason? They were always about the art and aesthetics; their game engines were always 10 to 20 years older than the cutting edge at least; it’s the ART that was always superior to most others.

Which is why it’s important criticism when people say that lately the art fell off a cliff.

I guarantee you the minute the nerf BSM( a tier 2 deck) and it become marginally playable. There will be 50 topics between here, reddit and twitter about DH and all the other decks that existed before the last balance patch. The way they designed things there will ALWAYS be an outlier deck.

Excellent points.

Agreed. They nerf one thing, another pops up.
It’s the “balance of broken” rule.
