it’s a mix of ~30% old Duels ~70% old Arena.
I don’t call it bad, it’s probably an improvement.

im guessing you played someone with wishes ?
I’m glad if other people are enjoying it. My first impression is that it’s the least enjoyable format of the game I’ve ever played.
Because blizzard is dumb enough to try to convince everyone.
In fact they probably did lose money on not going even harder.
come on, open your wallets, give everything you have to blizzard for the new wonderful arena!
In the Underground Arena i did 3 runs. My best was 7 wins. I took EVERY loss to Imbue Priest and players with three wishes. It’s pretty hard to beat those setups with just an average drafted deck.
This is more of a lottery system IMO to get players to spend and waste gold in hopes of getting the high roll Priest deck with 3 wishes. Pretty much guaranteed to get 10+ and just face mirror matches at the end.
Sounds fun!
Priest part a little less, but that won’t last forever
If they really wanted to fix something they could Go with the BG solution.
Make the own substitute for the original.
Going to need an explanation of this. Not a clue what you are talking about.
Pretty much, you only get 2 chances instead of 3, and now it costs $2 real cash for each session. What, they don’t get enough money as it is?
You create a different card that has the effect of the nerf you want and replace the original in the mode.
If one gives +1/+1 to a minion in standard.
You create a different Name and ART that gives only +1 attack to a minion in arena that Will replace the original in that mode.
So you ban the entire Priest class in Arena, got it.
If Priest is that broken and It is.
Sure.
Still for the numbers increase the earlier imbue Minions cost is probably enough in arena.
Make a arena version that cost 3. Both the neutral and the Priest one.
Unless of course the power level of Priest is there for a reason.
Making alternate cards for arena is interesting but i doubt they would find the resources to do it and realistically they want arena to showcase cards that are available in constructed that players will then pay to try and acquire.
If they want they are doing a horrendous work.
Because i don’t see more people using imbue in standard. So at minimal the marketing strategy is bad.
I was referring to Arena. Getting players to spend money ion hopes of getting Priest to draft and win with. I mean the gold pot is a blatant gambling ploy to get players to pay to play. I imagine this was born out of the amount of money they make on brawlesium.
again with the insane conspiracy theories …
Calling capitalism a conspiracy theory is wild. Why do you believe you can win 95 gold instead of 90 or 100? So you’ll end up one day missing 5 gold for whatever you wanna buy next and use real money instead to fill the gap.
Actually, it has more to do with psychology, although it’s also tightly coupled with how supermarkets used to work
It’s called “psychological pricing” and it’s banned in a few countries since not long ago, mine included
EDIT: nevermind, that’s for prices being at 95, 99, not rewards
By any rate, I seriously doubt they would decide on the rewards in such an arbitrary way, lol
You’re confusing two things here: Psychological pricing is as the name gives away referring to the price. The theory is that if you see 4,99 you’re more likely to buy because it looks smaller than 5,00.
What happens in Hearthstone is something entirely different. It’s not about the pricing but about the gold you earn.
Wanna buy a pack? 95 gold - damn, doesn’t work.
Wanna go Arena? 145 gold - shoot, doesn’t work.
Wanna play underground? Dammit, only 295 gold.
These broken x5 gold values are supposed to make you being stuck down the road. And then it’s either waiting for the next level up which can take up up to 1-2 days depending on how often you play, or just using real money and bypass the artificially created problem.
That’s the reason behind the x5 gold value. So yes, they’re clearly utilizing mechanisms that are disadvantageous to the players in order to earn more money. It’s the small subtle tricks here and there.
