I pretty much never squelch but in all of the most insufferable scenarios. If a player spams constantly till the game is midway or near the end I will squelch. Past that I have a very thick skin when it comes to premade emotes lol.
Personally I donāt unless either A) Iām in a poopy mood and know emotes will get on my nerves, or, B) the opponent emotes more than once within the first minutes or two of the game. In this case itās a obvious sign that they are an emoter and will emote the entire game.
I take it upon myself to squelch any player that will hinder the fun in my gaming.
I donāt really do it? A lot of the time I have the game muted cause Iām watching something on another monitor so I donāt pay much attention to emotes.
Personally, I turn the music off but it helps me to immerse into the game when I have the other sound effects enabled. Once in awhile I will play music, but I swear it distracts me enough to make pathetic misplays. I end up paying too much attention to the music and it diverts my attention between two things. Iām not a very good multi-tasker. I try my best to focus (which often isnāt enough) as is. This works best for me.
Does anyone else have some unusual quirks when playing HS?
I have squelched exactly twice:
- Once when I was discovering what it was, to test it out.
- I faced one person who roped and said Greetings three times every single turn. I donāt remember exactly when I squelched but it was probably either turn 6 or 7.
Sometimes I like to hear their trying to get under my skin. It makes victory so much sweeter. Itās like the ultimate revenge after youāve been being BMād the entire match. And once the tides turn, the emotes stop, leading usually to a silent concede. Itās such a satisfying experience.
Every time.
Emotes are horribly pointless (more than even voting systems like redditās upvotes) and I donāt need to deal with some man-child spamming emotes because he had a bad day at work.
Doesnāt help that Iāll play salt-farming decks like theft priest when I feel like it.
I enjoy emotes. I never spam them. However, in trying to be a good sport, I like to greet my opponents and thank them for the match should I lose.
Always at the start of every match. I find the voice acting atrocious.
To each their own. I can understand that. Not everyone is into voicelines. I take voicelines into great consideration when using cosmetics, personally.
Iāve never squelched anyone, personally, and never will.
I squelch when my opponent clearly anticipates spamming the entire game. But, thereās no better feeling than allowing your down to emote, to take over the match, and the emotes cease.
I can hand āgreeting,ā but beyond that emotes are typically unnecessary and is a tactic to induce salt in you so as you misplay.
I donāt squelch.
Sometimes it can be annoying if they snowball a win, but itās oh-so-satisfying to copy them whenever I turn the tables.
Same goes for roping. You rope once, youāre fine. You rope multiple times or emote while roping⦠You better grab yourself a Snickers, son, 'cause we gonna be here for a while.
In my experience, playing as though the enemy roping doesnāt affect you oftentimes works and they stop. Iām not about to double my time wasted to spite a clown Iāll likely never meet again.
In other words, play as you normally would.
Also, thank goodness for YouTube.
Iāve had the opposite experience. If theyāre roping intentionally and I end several turns the moment Iām finished playing my cards, it always seems to continue.
Some return roping though, accompanied by many thank-yous, tends to put them in line more often than not.
Iām sorry to hear that. My strategy is not full proof. But, back to not wasting my own time by roping. I just refuse to do it.
This is not to say I blame you. Sometimes giving players like this a dose of their own medicine works.
Imagine a world in which a greeting or an emote of any kind would annoy or bother someone. Seems like entitlement to me. A first world problems. I say emote awayā¦and Iāll gladly join you.
Depends on my mood. Sometimes I greet back at the start of the game, but after two or three greetings I squelch. More often I greet back and just squelch afterwards.
Itās not a first world problem. Itās human nature to react emotionally to bad sportsmanship.
Completely agree but Iād say if anyone is getting ātiltedā as they say, over emotes, they are probably overly sensitive. Of course, not much bothers me at all. Iām pretty stone cold in most facets of life. I just pay it no mind and in the grand scheme of my life, itās HS and therefore, is something I do for fun. You want to emote me go right ahead! Iāll hop in the emote train with ya if you like. Makes no difference to me.
In fact, if I can get a thunder king to emote a bunch, thatās a win for me. Itās hilarious.
