Mech Mage may be the first deck I want to take to Legend since Un’Guro Quest Mage.
Mech mage is just as stupid as predicted and will probably (and hopefully) be the first archetype to be nerfed.
I dont think mech mage is ridiculously overpowered, but its a little too easy to tutor the mech discount spell, which enables all the mechashark combos. The spell should discount the cost of one mech, not each one in your hand.
Early thoughts…
Naga Mage might wind up being inferior to Mech Mage. I’m surprised at this, but the consistency in Mech Mage is really, really good. Naga Mage still looks good, but struggles hard vs Paladin if they get Cariel and heals off.
Curselock has more staying power than I gave it credit for. It falls over to early tall boards, but otherwise can go long with the best of them.
Overall, the only thing I think that needs addressing out of the gate is Security Automaton, the 2-mana 1/3 that gains +1/+1 whenever you summon a Mech. It simply scales too fast and coming out on curve creates non-games a little too often. Make it a 1/2 and see how things shake out.
Pirate Warrior is going to ruin the whole meta. No reasonable tempo deck can even compete or keep up with it at all. This was already a problem, but it’s even worse now.
They need to nerf the actual quest pretty hard, or a lot of the actual Warrior pirates IMO.
What? This has to be fake news.
Make spellcasting great again.
Just opened my packs i got with gold and looking at what i gotta craft still, but i am excited!
Make Antonidas Great Again would fit the actual acronym
Though if what you say goes through then mage wouldn’t really be spellcasting but vomit mechs
But speaking for naga mage, I somehow won 2 out or 3 games with a naga + quest deck (look I wanted to finish a weekly). Guess people didn’t expect that a quest mage would actually play minions, and those minions might actually have synergy with a mage casting spells (namely I like how it helps me draw)
Honestly, that might not be a bad way to play the deck.
Good good good and good again
Aggro seems incredibly strong. Pirate Warrior, Mech Mage, Mech Paladin, Rogue, Hunter, Mur-lock.
I’ve theory crafted a control warrior which can just about keep up but is pretty boring, Reno Mage and Quest Reno priest don’t seem consistent enough at least at my deck building skills to keep up with the meta.
Hopefully someone will find a control deck that I haven’t spotted yet that is fun and competitive but from what I’ve seen so far this isn’t the meta for me.
I actually think Pirate Quest Warrior might be one of the strongest decks ever seen in HS
Unfortunately I don’t like at all.
9 games so far, only 2 decks in 8, mech mage and mech paladin, one match against pirate rogue, all aggro.
Now that we understand how that curse mechanic works it’s way more powerful than anyone was expecting. It’s no wonder they have fairly high costs. This could be a very interesting deck in the meta for sure.
I didn’t realize anyone didn’t understand how it worked, to be honest.
My concern was always for Warlock’s survivability into that ramping damage. Having played some of it this afternoon, it’s definitely going to be a contender. Probably low Tier 2, upper Tier 3 if the meta is aggressive enough but absolutely a Legend-capable deck.
Ironically i think after playing War and Pala control i think Paladin has better board control effects. It’s nice to see both decks have a solid draw setup built in that isn’t clunky. Still too early to say which one is going to be best but we now have two solid control decks in a meta that are proactive.
Mech mage isgoing to be fairly lame to play against. As normal Rogue has half an archetype. Weapon pirate synergy is shoved down our throat but I do not see it will no native healing. Burgle rogue is only ok… Druid ramps as normal… dredge is a fun mechanic. I hope duels does not suck
Oh, yeah …quests are still pretty stupid
From what I’ve seen so far I just don’t know if Warrior has the early game tools to stop decks like Pirate Warrior and Mech Mage spiralling out of control. Paladin might but I’ve always found Paladin boring to play personally
Seen mostly Mech Mage and Pirate Rogue. I’ve played both decks and they’re definitely fun. I’ve had some success with Murloc Shaman, but it can’t really compete with Mech Mage. I have yet to play Murlock (it’s probably next up). CurseLock is suprisingly not awful. I’m not totally sold on the archetype, like I feel it fits well into a Naval Mine/Phylactery shell better than working as a solo archetype.
However, I played one game of Quest Warrior because I got a Golden Nellie and as soon as I played the Quest my opponent conceded. Based off that one game, it must be the most broken deck in the meta. Science has spoken!
Yeah that was my experience. That and not enough sweepers against mech mage and flood decks. Paladin tends to have better tools to fight for the board early.
