Vicious Syndicate: Better make gamers angry instead of bored

Lol scrotie I was enjoying reading your post right up until this. Whys your ego always get the best of your intellect? Sigh.

Unless there are substantial and meaningful nerfs to Paladin the meta will continue as is. Everyone will continue to think the outlier offender decks need hit(which some do) but forget that Paladin is near invincible on ladder for anyone that can play cards.

I have NEVER had an easier run to legend. I sat down in an evening and ran my 10 star bonus to legend in a few hours. That is simply pathetic and most of my opponents NEVER had a chance to win from turn 3 forward. Even zilliax was no match for the burst of Paladin.

I’m sorry but it’s the truth. Game devs have to choose between going wide & shallow, or going narrow & deep. Along a spectrum, of course.

Where the sweet spot is on that spectrum, that’s opinion.

Keep the discussion simple (you seem to divert too much into micromanaging the balancing when we haven’t even gone beyond the overpowering discussion); VC’s point is too blunt so it can easily be interpreted to mean “instead of keeping it dull then even overpowered is good”; my point is that’s dumb because if it’s too overpowered then it can it make even worse(because in the long term frustrated people abandon you) so the wise course of action is to do it with balancing so that would be the way to UNLOCK MORE INTERESTING CARDS (by making them usable) (and then we could talk about micromanaging balancing).

What about an 1-cost card that says “when you use this you win the game”? If you’re going to say “but the opponent may have similar cards”: don’t: I mean as it is now and then you only add that card to 1 class (unless you will respond with “but then everyone will play that class” in which case I’ll tell you “semantics: it’s still 1 overpowered card that made the game lame and annoyed people and some of them quit”).

There’s no such thing as a 1-cost card that says you win the game. There never will be such a thing.

It’s like asking what would happen if Goku was in the real world.

Regarding “boring” vs “angry”: I think I made it clear that balance is desirable, and that having exciting cards is desirable. That’s implied when I described the hypothetical ARPG developer striking a balance between the two.

What I opined on is where I think the balance should be. And that was clearly an opinion.

Look at it this way: I think that, if you are single, unemployed and have to choose between paying your rent and not being evicted, or paying your auto loan and not getting your car repossessed, then the overwhelmingly correct option is to get evicted. You can sleep in your car and reliable transportation is a likely issue in getting a job. I understand that not everyone would make the same choice I would there. People value things differently. I can tolerate difference of opinion. But I don’t think that I could actually agree with a different opinion. This situation is like that. I don’t agree that balance is more important than excitement. I think balance is overrated.

But obviously the best option is to not get evicted AND keep your vehicle. I’m not against having both. I’m just saying that I love my Prius more than I love my apartment. And I think that gamers as a whole care more about fun than they care about balance.

That is WAY too specific to be just an example

Are you getting evicted bro??

No.

But I’ve been homeless before. Past tense. (I was not carless.)

Also please stop using your superior Hearthstone opponent reading skills on me. You were of course 100% correct, too specific to be fabricated from thin air, and I did want to reward that, but otherwise I really would rather not have shared that

And now someone’s going to be like “skill duznt exist, Altair only maek legends cuz he nolifes”

You have the sight now, neo

Altair actually got a seasonal job in tourism, so no more no-lifing

I play 2 hours a day, beaten and exhausted, which shows in my results (499, no more top 200 for me), and that’s with my best deck, Sludgelock

I picked up the broken druid and somehow went sub-50%. Don’t ask.
