If this was a Paladin card, it would have its cost reduced by holy spells cast and end up costing 0 while letting you pick two titan abilities

Well, guess mages have to console themselves with being one of two unwated red-headed stepchildren (along with Priest). But hey, at least your Protoss deck actually can win games! So you have that at least over Priest.
yeah, funny thing though. Both classes were fine until team 5 decided they needed two more classes.

Bad, sure, but playable. At least in wild. Saw a top 10 legend (4 v 9) hostage mage mirror earlier, 1 was running new quest, the other Osk. Definitely the 40th card in the deck, and easily replaced, but cant be THAT bad if its in a top 10L deck. Admittedly, hostage is the easiest deck to hold a dead card in hand until you get a BC you need, but still…

Yes, but exactly for the reason you state. Hostage Mage can go super greedy and buy an infinite* amount of time until Osk is playable. A normal deck is at the mercy of what Osk offers a few times.
Hostage Mage has got to be one of the most annoying decks in the format for that reason alone.

I also thought at first it’s a FULL TITAN so when I figured it’s just 1 ability of 1 Titan I realized what people were saying when the card was revealed. But I found a deck that obliterates the meme paladins that has the card (albeit I mainly used the card for the achievement). See my thread from today.

Hey, I thought you liked control decks. Nothin is more control than hostage mage.
I agree, its definitely the most annoying deck though. Someone should make a highlight reel of hostage mage games to show to people who desire a control meta.
Oh no, you got me wrong then my man. I do love Control decks, but not all Control decks.
I don’t like hostage mage for the same reason I didn’t like infinite Time Warp or Mill control decks. My object of the game is not to let the other play not play the game. I think that’s terrible. My object of the game is to let you play the game and see if I can counter it.
I’m trying to play Chess, not Solitaire.

Completely agree. Thats why I dont like Ice Block, Objection and Solid Alibi. They promote the hostage/prisoner style of control which is a bad experience to play against. Unfortunately, its been around for quite a while now in different forms, so is unlikely to change any time soon.

It is easy to understand why these Casino decks are so played and loved.
First, it is entertaining. No games are the same. Anything can happen.
Second, because anything can happen, anyone can get away with a victory against pretty much any deck.
When I am on a big losing streak playing my “serious” decks, it is always fun to just say “to hell with it” and let’s just gamble, see what happens and have a good laugh. Casino Mage can be quite the catharsis at times 
Well, I say We share the love, and foist these kind of decks off on another class for a few cycles. Mages have served their time.

That is the whole community. I wonder what would happen if pally had to be the one that is always stuck with the hail mary joke deck? We should force the playstyle off on them for a few expansions, and then poll again. Something tells me the results would be different.

Well let’s see…Team 5 could have changed it from a random Titan effect to a discover to align with the rest of the Mage theme from this expansion. Instead, players can get pumped up by playing this crappy card one turn sooner! jazz hands
