People who wont accept responsibility for their own emotions probably won’t accept responsibility for their own actions, either. I’ve received a lot of vitriol today from people who are mad at me for not echoing conspiratorial nonsense.
Someone said they were quitting & I said essentially “good-bye”, & was labeled “cruel”.
It’s what Blizzard has been doing over and over for years, including here in Hearthstone. They value short term profits more highly than players/customer reputation and satisfaction in their calculations, and more highly than fulfilling promises to players (WoW Classic). Doesn’t make sense to me either.
I understand how you feel. This game is very predatory in nature and it frustrates a-lot of people. This game thrives on manipulating endorphins in your brain to increase peoples addiction rate. Sadly voicing frustration on this forum will get you trolled and ridiculed. Its a shame this forum is so toxic and its a shame the gaming community in general is a poor reflection on society today.
so they are making the gam fun…because as far as i know those endorphin you keep mentiioning have a lot to do with having fun
so what you are trying to say " releasing games people have fun playing is wroooooong!!"
and pretty sure you are trolling OP with that endorphin bit because he claims the game is made to make people rage…
unless there is a connection between rage and endorphin i never heard about before
Nonsense. So many people derive so much enjoyment from rage that they’re positively addicted to it. Entire cable television channels are built upon the premise.
So when Blizzard makes some cards that do fun things, I’m not particularly shocked when people come here to complain about it. That’s their version of having a good time — oh, how bored they’d be with nothing to complain about!
I am not immune. I love a nice, profanity-laiden rant from Lewis Black or George Carlin as much as the next guy.
The only thing that bothers me, is when they forget it’s all one big joke. It’s not rage that bothers me, so much as self-importance. Unfortunately, they’re usually found together. And especially when one’s feelings are placed above the empirical evidence, as opposed to a temporary distraction from it.
You’re taking words out of context, stop that. They implement terrible mechanics, features, whatever it is, into the games that are fun. Said mechanics etc that are always thought of and designed later on are usually counters to things they don’t like. In wow, guilds using a strat that maybe wasn’t thought of by the devs, results in a hotfix to kill the strats usefulness. In Hearthstone, Leeroy is the answer to astronomical stat minions that THEY designed, but instead of implementing an actual answer they implement a ohko lol there’s your face.
I’m not offended, y’all stop taking things out of context assuming I hate the entire world of video games because they’re games and not virtual life or some other stupid nonsense, and stop putting words in my virtual mouth.
They are making this game addictive, which results in very unhealthy behavior and obsession. Fun in moderation is good. Addictive and obsessive behaviors are not. Its really quite simple, the worse someone feels when they lose the better they feel when they win. And people end up devoting large amounts of time and resources trying to “chase the dragon”. And I am not trolling the OP or berating them for their post. Lord knows there are enough jerks in this forum that already thrive on doing that. Im just empathizing with someones frustration and not trying to bully them about it.
Hey mountain,
You may find this interesting. I read your statement and thought of this.
Back in the day, I was in a long term treatment facility for addictions. I had been before, but not to a place that was as hardcore as this. There were all sorts of “addicts” there, not just one type.
I remember one lady was in the program for her long term addiction to …and I’m not kidding…Candy Crush.
I forget the story in its entirety but ultimately “it” ruined her life.
Of course it was her behaviour that led to her circumstance, but interestingly the one and only time I’ve heard of someone seeking serious treatment for video game addiction.
You meant exactly the opposite? You meant figuratively and not literally, right?
Also, and this goes for most of those upset about the direction of the game, perhaps this is no longer the game for you. It seems Blizzard has made their design style pretty clear of the last 2 years. Now it’s certainly reasonable for a player to want the game design to pivot into a different philosophy, but I don’t think it’s reasonable to expect it to happen given that this design theme seems to be the pattern for quite some time. I happen to enjoy the game the way it is right now. The excitement of pulling victory from the jaws of defeat; the exasperation of being on the other end of that match; and even the simple games that plod along without too much fanfare toward a win or loss. I’m sorry the game doesn’t suit your taste. But I think people need to understand that the way the game is right now and the way it’s been for the last couple year is what today’s Hearthstone is. Thinking they will change is rather silly.
