So - the ultimate cancer deck can onlybe beaten by yet another pure cancer deck. Hence, wild SUCKS because of those two decks. Honestly, Id rather face Kingstard all day versus Res priest. Either way, they need to just DELETE barnes or give us a neutral, cheap spell that turns a graveyard minion into a 1/1 zombie. Enough with this crap.
Exactly.
Reno decks can adopt so many different strategies, and can also be refined to give you at least a fighting chance against your worst matchups.
I am quite interested in your decklist.
Perhaps there is some room for different tech cards.
The best Reno Mage lists haven’t performed well for a long time.
You can tech it to do well against both Kingsbane and Odd Paladin, but it’s not a deck that’s well suited to deal with high value monsters such as Cube and Res decks.
I play kingsbane rogue right now. I cant say it does such a great job against this deck though. More like 50/50. Especially with Barnes round 4.
To be fair though i replaced sap and vanish with 2 elven mistrels cause of draw problems. So maybe if i put them back i ll have better luck with this deck.
there is no graveyard in this game no rez mechanic either the cards we have summon copies of minions
Every Reno Mage deck included them. This is not a way to make your deck unique.
So, if you understand it why do you complain that you cannot win somebody? As was already said Reno decks has not enough value to go well against heavy decks. Actually, the only Reno deck that succedeed in this recently is Mechtun warlock.
I wasn’t mocking you but I don’t think Reno Mage is a good Control answer to Big Priest. You are limited to running 2-3 transformation effects + potentially Kazakus were as something more like a Big Spell Mage shell would have access to 4 transformation effects in the deck. I’m not a fan of giving up consistency of answers for the power increase of Reno/Kazakus in anything but Warlock personally since Warlock’s hero power kind of negates the inconsistency to a degree.
I’ve LITERALLY seen 1 other Murloc in roughly 100 games in Wild. The “Kingstard” deck is your common aggro deck not Murloc anythign tbh. Also if Murloc becomes common it at least has a strong counter in Hungry Crab. Murloc Shaman is a lot like Even Shaman… it must have board in order to function.
I would imagine as Sap is the main reason I did well with it during RR against Big Priest. I haven’t seen anyone running Vanish in Kingsbane Aggro Rogue but it would make some sense tbh.
Mill rogue will always do them in. If nothing else, rogue with saps are invaluable for pissing on their swings. If you are gonna tech, there are more options for rez pool pollution in wild. If you are gonna continue with Reno Mage, look for solid tech choices that pollute pool. I would imagine saronite taskmaster or gravelsnout would be good includes for that deck
I am inclined to disagree. As a mecha-c’thun warlock, I have done quite well against them (currently rank 3 wild). The trick is to use Treachery to put several Doomsayers into their rez pool. A fair amount of the time, a random rez on their part will clear their board for you.
To make room for Treachery + Doomsayer, I have removed Twisting Nether. This actually improves things for a number of match ups. Most notably, portal-lock; you can now board clear regardless of how many spiders they have on the field.
…which is, actually, OTK deck.
Suggesting it is not control oriented?
It is “survive” oriented I would say. The same way as a good old freeze mage.
" A control deck , also known as a late game deck , is a deck that attempts to attain victory in the late game, through a combination of early game removal, taunts, and powerful cards in the later rounds of the game. These decks focus on controlling the early game in order to survive through to the later rounds, where they can use a string of powerful spells, or a steady flow of larger minions to overwhelm the opponent." – HS gamepedia
OP: i have been ranking up to 2 in wild, going for legend this month with odd paladin and here is what i can tell you about Barnes Priest, Bloodlock, and other big cheat decks. You won’t be able to get very far in ladder with your pet deck, maybe rank 15 to 10. If you want to beat those decks just remember that they rely on a high roll. If they dont manage to curve out Barnes, you need to be ready to go face. Maybe they wind up cheating out a copy of Barnes on turn 5 and you can quartermaster/bloodlust/savage roar a wide board, game over. If Barnes hits Ragnaros, go wide and go face. If Barnes hits NOT A TAUNT, go wide and go face. Otherwise, I teched in Prince Liam to answer psychic scream, witches cauldron because nothing beats a high roll like high rolling a devolve, or unstable evolution, and the owl to silence the statue, and I was good up to rank 5.
Now, up to rank 5, these high roller decks are good because they are streaky. They rely on facing substandard decks and less skilled opposition to get bonus stars. 5 to legend, there are no bonus stars, making Barnes and bloodlock unreliable for leveling. This was the point that I took out my specific tech choices. Coincidentally, this is also when i started seeing a few more Reno decks. Less “turn 4 game over” just makes room for more “turn 6 game over” in the meta.
There is real irony is that Reno was THAT card back in the day. OP’s deck beats aggro by curving out Reno, so what’s the difference? Maybe just suck it up and grind aggro to legend and then you can play your fancy homebrew all you want. Otherwise, ladder will be full of disappointment.
Btw im no legend yet, but this month I started at 7 and yesterday reached rank 2 with 4 stars, so take it for what its worth. GL
I would really have to classify it as a combo deck and not a control deck. Just because not everything goes face does not mean it’s control imo.
I’d call what you are doing selective quoting. What you are doing is taking a small part of my sentence, vomit out a (false) conclusion and pose it as fact.
You remark upon adding reno and kazakus not making a deck unique, though in that very same sentence i remark that those are the only cards i use as a starting point. Your lack of effort is Shameful and you should be Ashamed.
Regardless, i do not want to play kingsbane rogue or an aggro deck, i don’t like those decktypes. By your logic, i suppose the only way to play against bigpriest is to just Autoconcede. Fine i guess.
Its just like autoconceding against tokendruid. If you don’t play the exact counter, you Autolose.
Well, if you want to be able to beat Big Priest and don’t want to play aggro or Kingsbane, pick one of the 50/50 matches. Odd Rogue, Odd Paladin, Midrange Hunter, or Reno Priest. Or you could take one of the slightly unfavored decks, the 45/55 splits, and add in Anyfin Paladin, Shudderwock Shaman, Even Shaman, Mecha’thun Warlock, and Cubelock.
I guess what I’m saying is, there’s a lot of decks that can compete with Big Priest.
I appreciate that you want your Reno deck to perform well, but it’s just too slow against Barnes. Maybe you should just challenge a friend and you can both play whatever the other guy doesn’t want. You ban Barnes, I ban Reno.
I don’t know where you are ranked, or what your budget is, or what your objectives for playing wild ladder are, so here is what i suggest, if you want to be creative with deck design. At rank 20, 15, 10, 5 and legend, play whatever you want, because you won’t lose your rank.
I usually bash out some games with my mid range holy handbuff grenade paladin deck at these ranks, but honestly my expectations of winning are well tempered. Usually I play until get that message that i cannot lose stars at this rank. Well, my highly creative deck was rank 9 at best, with a slight chance of winning at rank 5.
If you are trying to ladder in wild, eventually you have to hard counter the most degenerate decks the internet can come up with. You have to learn how to beat them or join them, unless your Reno deck is THAT GOOD. Otherwise, just challenge a friend and ask him to lie down for you.
Usually can tell a new player in Wild by their decks they choose to play, usually.
