I think the true issue about wild players is that they expect it to be balanced. The unbalance is the purpose of the format. Sometimes they do something because people whine a lot. But it’s a wild format, it’s like that, a huge mess with stupid combos.
If you play for balance, just play standard, trying to make the wild format as you would like rather than how it is and should be is a bad idea and you’ll face some tough moments if you think it’s a good idea.
I feel like asking wild to be balanced is the same as asking for a vegan meal in a meat restaurant. They’ll serve you peanuts and the side salad with an awkward smile, but that’s about it.
I’m not confusing anything. Devs taking time to balance wild is a waste of time. Wild format should just be a conglomerate of all the cards, period.
If you think the format should be balanced, I think you just chose the wrong format, period.
they have no tournaments for wild. if they bothered to actually distinguish wild and standard, they would consider standard the official card game. as such, they would only consider the gamebreaking effects of cards retrospectively; in other words, they design cards solely based on standard, then only adjust it if it’s gamebreaking.
Stealer of Souls is pretty busted in Wild, but the I think it’ll eventually find its way into Standard as well. If you think people dropping Jaraxxus or Archwitch Willow (or really any big threat) on Turn 4, 5 or 6 in Standard isn’t going to raise some eyebrows from the dev team, I would guess you’d be wrong. Regis recently made a Standard deck that was doing some pretty gross things, and typically Regis makes more content-based videos. Imagine that deck getting optimized by a top Legend player. I could see it.
I don’t think that the card should be nerfed solely on it’s performance in Wild.
It’s a new card, right?
Is this same combination possible in Standard? It doesn’t seem likely.
I think if it is oppressive in Standard then yeah, it’s problematic.
but nerfing based solely on Wild makes no sense to me.
Everything in Wild is broken and this is no different.
I just think that if Stealer is problematic, then it will become evident in
Standard.
I do get players frustrations.
I lost to the deck four times today.
If wild is meant to be unbalanced then all card nerfs should be reverted upon rotating out of standard. The purpose of Wild is to allow long time players to use cards they collected years ago (Or allow new players to try strategies not permitted in standard). A Turn 5 otk with little to no play around besides Rock Paper Scissors is a game killer. as a long time FTPer (besides 2 welcome bundles) having to grind gold to keep up to standard is a chore.
I’m playing a gimped deck that lacks Hemet and Soularium, I sometimes have to make a pit stop with 3-4 cards left in my deck but it’s still effective and frustrating judging by all the friend requests.
Though actually on the Chinese server there are more wild players than standard players, honestly if wild starts generating them more revenue at any point it could flip. There are actually more players on Chinese server than all other servers combined I think though I don’t know for sure with that.
Though I’m not convinced we want standard format level of nerfing in wild.
Its almost certainly getting changed to one of the following:
‘The first card you draw each turn costs Health instead of Mana’
‘Battlecry: The next card you draw costs Health instead of Mana’
edit: alternatively, they could just hall of fame out Mechathun, since that card will cause Wild problems for as long as it exists. It was supposed to be a meme card to begin with.
I said devs are not to waste time into balancing wild, not that they should add confusion between standard and wild cards.
Out of topic argument dudee.
