Well maybe flamewalker and mozaki should be banned from Wild too. I’m totally fine with early OTK being out of the game.
Satanice Teemo,
Thanks you so much for your input. So happy you could join the conversation. I am very happy to report that Stealer of Souls is not the deck that got me legend I use my priest for that.
But regardless of which deck I choose to use to get into legend, it doesn’t matter what rank a player is on ladder, anyone who plays ranked is entitled to join the conversation and express how it impacts them for whatever level they may be at, why? Because ranked wild is ranked wild and we all started from bronze.
And if you feel that this post is such a waste of time, thank you for taking the time to tell me that.
Its good and i am all for it. I always wanted a more regulated Wild mode and pictured another mode for the freaks called Chaos, where they could play their broken combos all day.
Too bad though, because they most likely wont do another mode and its highly imporbable that they will ban specific cards completely. When SoS rotates, it will be playable in Wild again or else this card was a scam. So either they will eventually nerf it again or make it part of the Warlock Basic Set with an infinte ban in Wild and that is even more improbable.
So i guess the ban in Wild is coming because its the fastest way to react to the current problem and they arent sure yet how to properly nerf the card without destroying its purpose entirely.
I’ve played and play SOS in both standard and wild. And I support a nerf for this card would impact both formats. Like if the card was first 2 or 3 cards drawn per turn pull from life, that within itself would be better than how it is now, or a battle cry where they next three cards use life instead of mana. Or… disable the ability for this card to take advantage of immunity.
But Ban… that’s the lazy way out.
Considering that they developed this card and every card before that and werent able to realize that this card would be a problem in Wild, its not much of a surprise that they take the “lazy” way out. I am using quotes because banning specific cards is actually standard procedre in most, if not all, competitive TCG/CCG.
But that’s the thing, there is no way that Blizzard did not see this combo interaction. Like seriously? They have teams of very smart developers that know what they are doing. Unfortunately there just seems to be a lot of people Screaming foul over it and so they ban it… those same people are going to go back to screaming about secret mage, or even paladin, or raza priest.
To be honest, I was expecting a nerf, not a BAN. And that’s where I have an issue with it. I’m not saying that the interaction is not broken with the immunity cards, however, there are a lot of other broken mechanics in the game that are equally as frustrating. And if Blizzard is going to start carrot dangling their cards, than what’s the point of purchasing new expansions only to have a card here or there banned.
I think it’s a low point for hearthstone if blizzard will actually go as far as to ban a card. And yes many of you can argue a laundry list as to why blizzard is at a low point for other reasons, but this is not what this thread is about. It’s about the fact that they are going to ban a card for their latest expansion.
Anyway, we shall see what the future holds.
There is quite a difference in complaining about something broken and complaining about something strong.
Secret Mage is not broken. Its super strong, but none of the interactions are broken and you have tech cards against them as last resort. Thats the reason why i do not have much problems with Secret Mage in Wild, but others have. Its plausible though, because its a strong deck with insane synergies.
But the first time i played against an SoS Warlock in Wild, the realization about it being broken came immediately when he made his special turn on turn 5. He just won the game because of that, nothing i could have done. Even with Aggro decks it was a huge problem and they were supposedly the counter.
I will also doubt the statement that Blizzards developers are very smart. I will go with the rational statement and say that they are just as average as most other people and this card is proof again. They made a mistake and they realized that quite fast. Its not like they react immediately to everything the community complains about, so the fact that they dont even want to wait for more statistics should be reason enough to consider that they did not know what they were actually doing when developing the card in the first place.
i do love when someone defending an OTK deck is like what about these OTKs, and we can simply be like, them too, they can leave as well no one like those players either.
based on the past few years this is highly debatable
Laughing at you a lot!! Me being a main warlock I see how wrong you think of the very class you should defend! Don’t you realize you’re limiting the power of your own class when you’re in favor of banishment? Who will win in the end?? The other classes, and the warlock once again lose a good deck! Wizard OTK deck has two running in wild mode, warlock had one, now by Blizzard Entertainment’s own mismanagement, the class lost a strong deck. Keep advocating the banishment of cards from your “favorite” class!
“get over it” Who told you that?? Let’s think about it… me, you and everyone else paid very dearly for the cards and now they can be banned in wild mode? WTF?! The question I ask you: Why the hell am I going to keep playing this game??
Banning cards from wild mode is a huge fiasco! This is the result of mismanagement! But as most just wizard game, or paladin, nothing else is going to happen on this platform, I’ll skip it!
Yeah, and I’m laughing at all you hardstuck Diamond 5 Warlock players who’ve only just managed to hit Legend this month for the first time because you’ve been abusing this disgusting card.
I hate any OTK that involves zero set up and has zero counterplay: Mage (APM, Mozaki, etc.), Tiller Priest, and yes, SoS Warlock.
I have no bias. I call it for what it is. I literally own all the cards and yet I refused to play this deck once because A: it’s disgusting, and B: i’m not a scrub and I’d rather climb with a deck that requires skill.
What is remarkable is that you are making an assumption that I was offended. I was not offended at all. What is very evident is that you’re an instigator. And you continue to make posts that are not constructive to this thread.
I must say, I also thoroughly enjoyed how you kept writing posts that I choose not to respond to, then you were going back and deleting them. That certainly was a hoot.
You asked me to be specific.
And then you are going to blame me for “derailing the thread” when I give you the specifics? LMAO!
Holy 8400 WINS? with warlock alone… dammmmmm! lol you a warlock pro.
main i dunno, warlock/warrior/paladin>priest>hunter here? got to legend both in standard and wild with them and played wild till legend last month and this one before mini set and after mini set also trough legend
…and i can say this deck was BULLSHT, there is a reason why everybody and their moms was playing this bs deck.
i mean, ive never sympathized with any otk because they basically play they own solo game where you are not invited, but this deck was the EPITOME of it.
and if your hurting because you just xpent your dust crafting malganys, loatheb etc just for abusing with this deck well… you got it coming.
Mediocre vision only! Hey, aren’t every deck part of a card game?! If they’ve never nerfed cards from the wizard’s OTK deck then in their view they can but the one from the warlock class has been banned in the Wild, bizarre way!! (This is going to be a shot in the foot!)
