Slow, but the thoughts enough to warrant viper on an ETC at least on the off chance you’re caught not bringing the freeze n cheese deck
A viper in your etc might be too slow.
I don’t know what decks you guys are facing, but the weapon rogues I’m facing have a 7+ attack by turn 4. Turn 5 that thing is like a 13+ attack and you’ll be dead. You need to viper on 3 or 4 or freeze them.
The idea is to break their weapon AFTER they waste the buffs on it, otherwise they could just use their hero power or pull out a second spectral cutlass and try again. But I hear ya not everyone can get lucky and survive or control the first 2 strikes. It’s usually the third hit that’s the game ender in my experience
If you can go wide in the early game a weapon rogue deck will struggle to handle that too
If you dont have freeze or ooze you can just be fast like Demon hunter or wide with taunts like Shaman.
2 4/5s or a frosty decor will give the rogue a headache
The competitive weapon deck doesnt run spectral cutlass so it just wants to 2 3 4 into a chunky weapon and deal 20 something damage with it and then finish you off
They dont want to spend any time dealing with your board so the more minions you can play the harder it becomes for them to keep up with your pressure
Yes that’s true. It’s a good reason why making the spectral cutlass a 4 mana card makes it a poorly designed card. It’s not that the card itself is bad, but the environment the game finds itself in now.
Cutlass should probably be a 3 mana card. 2 is definitely too low.
A simple way of getting around weapons is to play more taunt minions to force the weapon user to deal with them before being able to deal hero (to the other players face) damage. The big flaw in that is there are not a lot of taunt minions that support deck goals.
Ex: surfalopod does not have taunt.
It could be interesting to have cards that have a zilliax like affect that grant bonus’s on the level of the 2/3 mixmaster - essentially the effect of a 1 or 2 mana battlecry “grant a minon 2 life” level of power. edit: to be clear, I don’t mean make those effects battlecries, but to give those effects a small game impact at the power level of those particular battlecries.
Having some flexibility in some card use within a deck could lead to a wider variety of playstyles.
Better bring plenty of taunts between the two deafens and the discover a quickdraw card, they can easily get thru most stuff to go face
