Are you using Grace ? at least if you did multiple times with another “hero” we can statisticaly say we really need Grace.
Yeah, most of my tries were with Grace… but I tried with everyone… If someone playing this boss now could you check if u can drop that book?
This is one the worst pve experience in the game ever. It feels amasingly chaotic and frustrating trying to do the achievements, and most off all like a chore. Abolutely 0 fun. I’m digusted i lost my time on it and on reading topic like this one…

I was able to get the Efficient Octo Sought done by turn 8-9 from discovering a flamestrike from the nature studies. This was also before the latest patch and the spreading madness would screw you over easy. Now it looks like they have fixed the spreading madness part. I would recommend trying to kill them all with flamestrike and see if it works for you.

Wanted to go ahead and post this guide for the 34/40 lorebooks list that we have. If anyone can find any of the others in question please post so we can get the total correct.

Thanks for the updated list, TWoodz. I saw your tip for Challenge 11 about killing other minions besides Trenchstalker being okay as long as you do not click the spawned lorebooks and I decided to test it out. Sure enough, as I was killing random minions the Ancient Decree lorebook spawned but I simply left it alone without clicking. Then, I killed Lady Ashvane and the Creation of the Naga lorebook spawned and I ignored that as well. Then, finally, I killed Trenchstalker and the Tom’s Message in a Bottle lorebook spawned. So that was three lorebooks spawning in a single attempt without clicking on the first two.
I decided to test if this also worked in other encounters as well. For Challenge 2 - Patrol Captain, I took the opponent to fatigue twice but was only able to get one lorebook to spawn on each attempt despite not clicking on it. However, for both Challenge 3 - Ol’ Rattleswipe and Challenge 4 - Captain Hooktusk, I was able to get the legendary spawn lorebooks after already getting the random spawn lorebooks without clicking them.
My working theory is that you can only get one type of random spawn lorebook per attempt but legendary-specific lorebooks will still spawn as long as you have not clicked on any lorebooks to that point in a given attempt. This makes it significantly easier to find legendary-specific lorebooks compared to the previous method of trying to kill the Legendary minion first before any others.
I am already at 34/40 lorebooks with the same list as coi and TWoodz, but hopefully this insight will prove useful to others hunting for lorebooks.

For sure man, I have to give most of the credit to Coi. I was just able to compile it all together in a neater form.
I can’t find Ambassador Program on XII.Ruins of House Evenlar encounter, only the Dathril’s Unsent Letter, I repeat that fight more than 10 times already, tried a lot of different stuff but no luck, sigh
Note: also my Halus abilities achievement is stuck on 8/9, I always make sure all abilities are triggered, some question A. do you have to finish the battle with the ability to make it count?. B. Does Caye’s improve ability make it do not count?
I just have it recorded as it spawning later in the fight. It was so long ago now that I completed it I don’t quite remember exactly. I just recommend trying to fatigue the enemy and don’t click on the other lorebooks that spawn. For Halus ability you just have to make sure you use whatever the ability is during the fight at least one time.
That fight only requires you to survive 10 turns, I already tried to kill every minions but no spawning, restarting (before the last turn) like countless times already, no luck
yeah I already make sure all 9 abilities are triggered once, very annoying, sigh
