seems to me that suggestion would drastically decrease the game profits and we know a game like this one gets shuts down if it his happens
ive seen this suggested before is it being done on mtg arena(or shadowverse) with great success ? only reason i can think for someone to suggest this thinking is a good idea is it worked for HS competitors
we are on a thread about a suggestiont to increase the game cost by stop giving free cards … so when is saw yours on top of that…
Well, to reiterate, I am only suggesting one alternative. Perhaps, it’s a naive suggestion, because as you say, this would most definitely lead to lost profits. But, and to be clear, I have no ill will toward Blizzard (although, I wish the company wasn’t bought by Activision) nor Hearthstone specifically. I’m trying to think outside a very small box here, but can’t seem to come up with a way to lure new players while bringing back veterans that have long since quit. Hence, these free packs some players are receiving. That’s not a terrible idea, really, despite other, envious players.
I don’t believe it was me that posted that, especially because it’s not an idea original to m e. I stole the idea from someone else, really – I can’t remember from whom.
The core point is what you consider being optimal.
I’ve reached legend already and don’t really care much of my ranking anymore.
Playing meta, high win-rate decks is not interesting me anymore (if they do not fit what I like playing)
Now I like playing homebrew, off-meta, half high-roll dependent decks, sometimes having around 40% winrate.
This is MY optimal way of playing the game, for the fun.
Since the previous posts were about Whizbang not being “viable” (very debatable since players managed to reach legend with it), the discussion was about the card playability for a F2P player
I mean, is it any better to spend on games that aren’t dying? If you want to be practical about it, get a job. If you want to be rational, entertainment money isn’t supposed to have a higher purpose than entertainment
Technically wrong. Look at any super old MMO that by All accounts should be dead and are still thriving, corporation-wise, by whale spending. Not great games by any account, but alive.
Hearthstone still makes more money than 99% of games out there. Your hemorrhaging means “stopped generating ten billion dollars or whatever, now it only generates 5” it’s in no way into the negative range.
I understand. To clarify, I’d characterize “optimal” (in my statement) as using the best tools at disposal for the highest win-rate possible. But, you make a valid point, and whatever floats your boat. I, too, enjoy home brews and off-meta decks. I’m only not very good at it!
I have been quite amused by the players who regularly spend money on HS complaining about how some players are going to get more free cards than they are.
I have not spent money on HS in a long while, but since most of my HS collections have hit between level 84 and 120 on the rewards track (along with buying the mini- set), I also do not expect to get very many free cards from Catch-Up Packs, and yet, I am not complaining about the extra free cards that new players or players with small collections are about to receive.
It’s clear that they are giving large amounts of free stuff to entice new players to try HS and to get players who have abandoned HS to return. I doubt what your proposing would be more impactful than what they already have planned.
It’s actually a bad idea to keep the draft. I played mtga before, and I would deliberately keep the higher rarity cards instead of picking a more suitable one. This makes the mode less competitive.
A better solution would be to hand out a ticket instead of a pack for the weekly brawl.
Well the point is that its a choice you can make. Maybe a weird super narrow mythic wheels pick 8 and the other picks are trash anyway. Nice little pickup for your collection and just throw it in the sideboard. Or ignore it and obviously make the better pick for your deck, perfectly reasonable option. But the choice is there. If you het tempted or not its up to you.
