Pure paladin: surpasses demon hunter winrate near lauch

That horn is perhaps the most powerful removal cards i have seen in a class in a while. If it wasn’t a 6 cost card i would just call it out right broken. I am really liking the fact that big paladin is playable. Sadly it feels like it is just making pure paladin super OP.

What is the winrate of the next best class?

Right now, 54.1%, enrage warrior. 55% is a very dangerous threshold for any deck to cross, its going into nearly uncharted waters in terms of power level, very few decks in the past have had such high winrates.

Paladin has blow past that now, currently sitting at 56% winrate, nearly 2% higher than the next best deck. Keep in mind, 2% Winrate is usually the division between a tier in deck rankings. Thus paladin sits at T0, and enrage warriror leads the T1 tier.

The rankings look to be

T0: Paladin
T1: Enrage Warrior, Hound Hunter
T2: Totem shammy

Thanks i do expect totem to fall down maybe bottem tier 2 possibly i could be wrong since its plays are also fairly predictable but i think paladin just has alot of support for a fairly straightforward deck.

The one skill i would say this deck requres is when it goes vs control or spel dh other then that its fairly straightforward as everyone says.

I am assuming the new card dance floor is probably inlcuded in this list as a one off i dont see two copies being needed unless im wrong since paladin can thin its deck rather quick.

Edit - it seems big paladin runs this card i tried looking not yet being run in pure paladin dance floor according to hs replay

I am abit surprised but i gues if u buff liadrin with the one spell it can do the same thing
or maybe its not needed.

This deck is literally every other game at diamond 5 up right now. Yay. The spikes in this community are unbearable. Tomorrow will be be 4 out of every 5.

Similar, but still not the same, because of the weapon.

Before it’s just minion piles basically ALL game.

Now it’s minions but then sometimes you get the weapon (well, two weapons, disco maul is also very very good)

Really, the countess is also another card that lets paladins do more than just vomiting predictable minions.

New location and cold feet also gives them variety of options.

It’s a good thing that devs realize their mistake in making paladins so “boring” in the past. The class is finally fun.

And fun is what matters. Not your meta tier lists.

I’ve been seeing success with my totem shaman list against Paladin at least. Shaking up their aggro list to be ever so slightly slower has made them more vulnerable to being out aggro’d, so I can just board flood into blood lust game after game.

For many players paladin at its current overall winrate, which is far higher than any deck should be, is antithetical to fun. A balance or compromise needs to be struck between PP’s performance and dissatisfied players (who are many (and may outnumber paladin players having fun)).

If people aren’t having fun, they would just quit trying to fight paladins, and you end up with paladin mirrors all the time, and win rates would go down to 50% (I believe that happened to rogues once)

But that’s not happening. Not yet. If anything the win rates are still rising.

It should also be noted that just because paladin is at like 55-60% win rate, it doesn’t mean the people playing other classes/decks with 45-40% win rates aren’t having fun. Fun and winning are not the same thing. Some might even find it fun playing the underdog and trying to figure out how to make the god paladins bleed.

Well, I certainly can’t disagree with your thinking regarding the analysis you have given. I think that’s more than fair, what you’ve stated about the weapon, cold feet, and location.

Paladin is usually a class I play fairly often. I have my 4th highest wins with the class. Your description of minion vomiting rings true for mech paladins to my mind, especially in wild.

Fun, is in the eye of the player having said fun. I’m not much into the meta tier lists that you reference. In standard and in wild, I only play achievement decks, and troll decks that are so bad, my opponents will friend request me to ask me if I need help deck building. A recent deck I built had only 1 and 2 cost cards with no synergy whatsoever. My wife plays DK and Hunter, however.
If any deck is currently a meta tier list, it is unequivocally pure paladin. If that’s your idea of fun, then I find that to be absolutely splendid. Enjoy.

I’ve played 5 games today, 5 of them have been paladin.

Looks like my prediction of the format becoming paladin appears true so far, it’s probably going to only get worse.

For those interested, I’ve had some success targeting paladin with spell DH. 4-1 so far.

If memory serves, the last time we had a braindead deck like this taking over the ladder, it was Quest Pirate Warrior from UiS. They never really nerfed that deck, either.* People just got bored of playing it. The same reason why Pure Paladin wasn’t seen in Legend before this, people with a modicum of skill didn’t want to play it.

I’m not expecting nerfs, tbh.

*They did increase the number of pirates required but it didn’t really hurt the deck, if I remember correctly. Rokara was still coming down on turn 6.

Increasing requirements is a nerf.

And seems you forgot Nelly would crash the opponent’s game, without the opponent knowing it happened. So if they Played Nelly quickly and ended their turn, they could easily skip your subsequent turn.

Also seems like you forgot they not only fixed Nelly, but subsequently nerfed Nelly.
